I think it would actually be after the second go around where he says "so softly a supergod dies" instead of "cries" if you listen to the sample closely
SO much! There are more volume variations which I think gives it more buildup and emotion (that drop back to simple voice and strumming after the chorus is so beautiful) . Also 0:25 and 0:33 are a MUST!
I may be drunk 🙈but if this is supermen I've not heard this version which I like 👍and as a drummer I absolutely miss the great drumming fill that I have on my LP😁
OK nobody seems to have heard the version I know and love😄maybe somebody got a hold of am unfinished song or whatever but there are gaps which were filled with amazing drum fills which really make this tune so get that version 😁sounds like somebody got a bit of this song somehow and I'd like to know how you did 😄🙈👍🤔😍
This will always be the definitive version for me. The music on the version from The Man Who Sold The World just doesn't fit with the strange, enigmatic, mythical lyrics.
waiting for Culture Shock to kick in at 1:00

this may be one of the best comments I've ever seen

indeed it kicks in at exactly 1 minute mark...

My favorite version of this tune!
Love those Ronno divebombs at the head of the choruses. I can't get close. Just a screech when I try.
A cheap boss od2 pedal through an orange crush 20 will do it
very hawkish of Ronno...
I just think this version is so much better
Totally

It was on a bootleg that was pretty common in the ‘70’s... “DOLLARS IN DRAG”... that also had “MAN IN THE MIDDLE”... (kind of a lost track it seems).
You're noided then
Interesting but the other version has mad bass. Ronson's guitar is still powerful here.
This song is Brilliant IMO. Excellent guitar from Ronson and magnificent lyrics from Bowie, it ozzes rock in an acoustic way.
And special thanks to Jimmy Page.
@@TheEWFX29 : I'm afraid you lost me mate Mick Ronson is playing guitar on that album. Please tell.
@@thenicklas615 Jimmy Page gave David Bowie the main riff in this song. Bowie has used it in other songs too like Dead Man Walking also.
@@TheEWFX29 : Good ol' Pagey never a loss for a riff or solo lol. He's my childhood hero for decades still is.
this version "oozes" super hero lore...bar none!!👌😜🔥
The precursor to Dead Man Walking!
like bowies acoustic lead in with Ronson crunchy electric guitar fill ins...

The copy I have is for the man who sold the world but I love this version although I miss bowie's manic voice and the great drum fills😍😄👌

this version was a studio version for the glastonbury faire in 1971...iirc
That’s the album I had with this on. Love this version.
Alternate version is best version 🪨

To bad I can't invite David to my birthday!!!!
why is this version not on Divine Symmetry?
It was recorded during the Ziggy sessions. It will be on the Rock and Roll Star box set
Except this song appeared on "The Man who Sold the World" not "Hunky Dory"
This track was an extra on the Rykodisc release of Hunky Dory.
as a bonus song on the rykodisk version of DBs MHSTW!!
culture shock
c-c-c-culture shock
i here no cymbals high hat or crash on this uploaded mix...tis a pity
Tiene mas de Hunky Dory con esa acustica esta version , de igual forma prefiero 100 veces mas la de The man who sold the world ;)
