  • Why Didn't Chang'e 6's Landing Broadcast Live?
On June 2, Chang'e 6 successfully landed on the far side of the moon and collected a variety of samples from multiple locations, marking a significant milestone in the history of human spaceflight. Although the landing process was not broadcast live, its technical innovations and scientific achievements have drawn global attention. This mission not only showcases China's leap in space technology but also unveils the mysteries of the moon's far side, boosting international enthusiasm and cooperation in space exploration.
Is this true? Dear viewers! Welcome back to our channel! We are excited to discuss and explore today's topic with you: Why wasn't Chang'e 6's landing on the far side of the moon broadcast live? What caused the European Space Agency's (ESA) prediction error regarding Chang'e 6's landing time? What potential significant implications do the moon's far side samples have for scientific research?
The collection mission, conducted on the moon's far side, is particularly mysterious to observers on Earth because this side never faces Earth. Chang'e 6's successful landing represents a major breakthrough in China's space history and a significant event in human spaceflight. However, there are many surprising aspects of this lunar mission, with five particularly notable points.
The upcoming exciting video will unravel these secrets in two parts.
Part one: five particularly notable points.
    1. No Live Video of the Landing
Although Chang'e 6's landing was a highly anticipated event, there was no live broadcast. This might have disappointed many who were looking forward to witnessing this historic moment live. However, it is understandable that landing on the far side of the moon poses technical challenges. The moon itself blocks direct communication with Earth, making live broadcasts difficult. Even with the support of the Queqiao relay satellite, it does not mean that live broadcasting was possible. In fact, for safety and security reasons, it might have been decided not to broadcast live. After all, safety is a crucial factor in space exploration. Additionally, secrecy is important for protecting national security interests. Therefore, although we could not witness this magnificent scene firsthand, we can still learn about Chang'e 6's landing process through other channels.
    2. ESA's Prediction Error
A few days ago, the European Space Agency (ESA) predicted the landing time of Chang'e 6. ESA's predicted time was 8:00 AM on June 2, but the actual landing time was nearly two hours earlier. This indicates that, despite cooperation and information sharing between international space agencies, accurately predicting the exact timing of space missions remains challenging. The discrepancy between ESA's prediction and the actual landing time is not uncommon in the field of space exploration. The precise landing time is influenced by various factors, including launch windows, orbital adjustments, and dynamic changes of the target celestial body.

The Chang'e program, unlike other countries, is outstanding in that it has been 100% successful with no single one failure since it was initiated.

You were quite right to not broadcast live pictures of the Chang 'E landing. It would have taken a lot of bandwidth and provided a lot of unneccessary complication to an already extraordinarily complicated task. For example the lander would have had to drop a camera on the moon first, before it landed itself and this camera would have then had to land and then orient itself to where the lander was going to land and then orient itself to broadcast its pictures to the relay satellite or to the lander. Clearly a lot of extra work and a mass of things to go wrong. As you said this was a primarily a scientific experiment not a public relations exercise.
Anyway, a magnificent success, my heartiest congratulations!

Faced with limited band to broadcast from the far side of the moon , China made a wise choice, I.e. science over glory.
We will get to see future landings when the relay technology catches up with broadcast needs.

China has no need to hide any secrets. The reason why there was no live broadcasting was mainly because it was not feasible to make it due to having to take two times transmissions via two relay satellites especiaaly when the 1st relay satellite's life span was about to expire. That means its capability and transmission vitality of relay satellite 1 was not as robust on par with relay satellite 2.
It is a must for Chinese Mission Center to make sure this mission can't allow any technical failures or any unexpected surprising happenning otherwise it might trigger a fiasco. Safety first, smoothness first" would be the top priorities. From where or from whom that Chinese scientists may acquire convincible proofs or infos to say a live broadcast from the far side of the moon to earth through two relay satellites would be definitely for sure bringing a successful outcome? Any possible mistake would cause Chinese Mission Center taking the accountability for that, not the viewers or bystanders. Make the whole mission success is above all. Any possible troubles must be excluded. We can't request Chinese scientists should have 100% confidence in fulfilling a live broadcast this time. That's not correct. After all all the works and procedures are unprecedent endeavors from izard to gizard. It's the very first attempt of all humans. To provide a live broadcast will certainly add a plus. But that is not necessarily a must-do even if you assess there's only less 1% unpredicablity. The tolerance for a faliure is zero. I highly respect Chinese Mission Center's strict prudence. That's a highly-deciplined scientists team ought to abide by. There's no room on the moon leaving for showboat like Zelensky.
Remember, either landing on the near side or the far side; sampling from the near side or the far side,
Chinese are all in 100% success. The perfect records are every country's space exploration scientists
need to seek for. It is the Chinese Attitude worth every other country to learn about.

A few days ago I read news reports of this Chinese moon landing to collect samples. Many Indians commented that this is Chinese propaganda and videos are all animations created in the studio. They even said how could the Chinese have such advanced technology better than Indians.
Now waiting to see if there's more Indians saying the same thing.
