Because Abigail is always like that the moment she meet her unit..she don't back down and she wants to live on her family name and that's how she brought up. May Scylla and Abigail get to that point also like the way her unit understand her.
Abigail is elitist for most of the first season. She doesnt want her unit hanging out with someone from Necro, especially not someone who has no name or family history in the army to live up to. Plus, she is bitter because instead of using Scylla as a plaything like Abigail does her men (and women I bet), Raelle actually fell in love with Syclla and wants to be with her all the time- even at the expense of their training.
High Atlantic look down on everybody. She didn’t like Raelle, either. Scylla was a distraction from Abigail’s POV. Raelle skipped training, stayed out late, missed inspection, got into general trouble all because of Scylla. And whatever Raelle did affected the unit’s ranking.
I feel like the opposite in hand to hand Abby would be better bc she have get proper training while scylla as a necro doesn't do training so whatever she knows it's from out of the fort salem while in magic wise scylla would have the upper hand especially with all the off cannon works she knows bc of the spree, (that said I do believe that both are very good and powerful in both cases)
