Very nice. Sankirtan yajna ki jai! All glories to the assembled devotees and to Bhakti Vikash Maharaj.
But I DO have to say that I think that this is not good visuals for the general public, i.e. to see followers making this physical effort in carrying someone around on a "palanquin", who is obviously their spiritual leader. This is far too intimate a guru-disciple thing to display to the general public.
If I was a member of the public, even a very open-minded one, I would think that this is weird. And that if I joined these guys -"would I also be required to carry this man around?" I would request any devotees reading this to not summarily dismiss my concern by saying - "Ah, that's just because they are envious". I personally would HAPPILY carry Maharaj around. 'Twould be my good fortune and honor to do so. But not like this in public. And I am pretty sure I DO know WHY he is being carried. I presume he isn't in the best of health, and may be too weak to walk, but he wanted to go on Hari Naam.
Our main message to the public is not that we have to worship our leaders, and give special treatment to them, although of COURSE we DO happily and dutifully serve our gurus and elders and show great respect to them. Our main message FOR THE PUBLIC is - "see how beautiful it is to chant and dance to God's Holy Names".
People are understandably afraid or concerned that they may be exploited if they take part in some religious organization. And this looks a little bit like fanatic followers being taken advantage of. I know neither is true. But the heavily conditioned public will not see it this way. Wheelchair would be better and far less effort and more acceptable for public preaching.
Please forgive any offence I may have caused by expressing this concern. To be clear, I feel Maharaj SHOULD be carried, but just not like this on public harinam. AGTSP. Kali-Yuga Pavana, Shree Naam Sankirtan Yajna ki jai!

Hare Krishna prabhuji, i don't knew the exact situation wheather maharaj is ill or not ! But People in India generally give as much respect to their spiritual master as you are seeing today Even if their spiritual master is ill, they still take him to the Vyasa asan only.
it doesn't matter wheather his health is good or not, people always give so much respect. Some people may think negative, but it is not necessary. Many people also see with lot of respect and a respectful attitude And the result is that good people appraise it and they also express the same respect towards those spiritual masters. Hare Krishna! Thankyou for your concern. Actually Maharaja has some pain in the ankle because of which he couldn’t walk long distance. Hence the disciples decided to use a palanquin instead. It may be an astonishing sight for the people in the West, but in India it is quite normal.
Although it might be a weird sight for general public, but what isn’t? If you observe carefully, so many things in ISKCON might seem weird to an outsider. Public harinam and book distribution, for example. As per your logic, people might also think that, “If I join these guys, would I also be required to sing and dance in the public? Do I have to stop people and sell them books?”
And what to speak about the four regulative principles. Carrying an old sadhu in a palanquin is nothing serious. One of the major thing that can possibly keep people away from seriously following the Hare Krishna movement is to follow the regulative principles. They might think, “Oh! If I join them, I also have to stop eating meat, no sex life other than marriage, no more cigarette, alcohol or any other intoxication, no more casinos and gambling.”
In this Kali-yuga, the sight of two people kissing in the public is not astonishing, but the sight of a sadhu being carried by young men in a palanquin is weird. Your concern is not new. After watching the videos of Maharaja in UA-cam, many people are asking why everyone bows down in front of a human being, why these people are jumping in the airport in strange clothes etc. Many such things are very strange for the outsiders and we get an opportunity to preach to them about the Vedic culture. But just because these things looks strange for some, we can’t even imagine to stop doing these things.
On one hand we speak of educating the people about the Vedic culture and spreading it all over the world, and on the other hand we are concerned about their likes and dislikes and adjust our preaching accordingly. This contradiction won’t help our preaching but make everything more confusing, as it is already happening nowadays.
If you just type the words “vox populi” in VedaBase, you will find so many quotes of Srila Prabhupada on this topic. Here are two such quotes:
“No, no. ‘Our own program.’ Our program is not vox populi -- doing what pleases the most people, as you are doing. We simply follow the Lord's program for becoming first-class, as He gives it in the scriptures.”

This is pretty much the standard of how a spiritual master should be honoured - public or not. In an era where teachers have become servants of their students or students serve their teachers only out of fear and to get good grades, it is ecstatic to see a pure and genuine loving exchange between the teacher and students so much so that they're not allowing their teacher walk. This is real devotion to spiritual master! The public NEED to see and learn this. No money, no force, no propaganda - just genuine love and respect. Here is a genuine sadhu guru and the effect that he has on his disciples.
