I first saw John Travolta in the Broadway hit "Over Here" with the Andrews Sisters when it came to the 11,000-seat Muny Theater in Forest Park in St. Louis. He immediately stood out. A great show and Patty and Maxene Andrews were just terrific, two ladies who really never did grow old.
My older sister was REALLY into these kinds of shows back then and watched all of them but I can't remember this one. This must have been JT's introduction as a singer!
Toni Temnille- probably one of the most underrated female singers in pop music. Listen to "Do That To Me One More Time" or "Shop Around ". Great vocals.
Isn’t it just another Mediocre song sung by a couple of helliwierd satanick masonick entertainment industry created, sellout deceivers, and gender inverted reverso’s masquerading in the opposite sex allegedly?
Definitely live. John's line at 2:15 is supposed to be "You put the spark in the flame" They both know he goofed and they are totally laughing. Great clip!
I give John Travolta all the credit. With a stone faced dead audience and syrupy sweet Tennille acting so Gee Whiz Golly. The fact that he finished the song without hitting someone in the head with his mix is amazing!
I had never seen this before.. how cool. Of course they didn't sound that great.. but! John was hot then.. Toni was excelllent performer..singer. Thanks for posting this
I guess that is my Aunt in the background between John Travolta and the lady. She passed away a few days ago. I miss her so much and I had to see her again.
hey brother let me just say I'm mighty sorry to hear about your loss and you have my condolences brother and always remember that it's the fond memories of dear departed ones that keep them alive in our hearts 😇🙏🇮🇱✝️ God bless you brother
my late brother used to make fun of the captain&tennile show when it was on in 1975 he loved john travolta on welcome back kotter but thought he should have stuck to dancing instead of singing I really liked watching this show but I was 9 years old he was 18 !
Now I put my mind working and remembered that John had an album recorded by that time...not sure if it was before or after Grease movie, but I clearly remember some girls holding the record cover and screaming LOL!!!
Wow, this HAD to be BEFORE his Saturday Night Fever days, notice he could barely "move" with the music!! He was still a cutie though! :-) Also, love the fact he was so friendly with the audience...
Evidently their marriage was not a good one according to her book. He never once during their marriage said I Love You. She said he was all about the music industry and never gave her much attention. They were divorced before he died. He knew about her book and was fine with it.
Not really, women’s voices can resonate more. Add she’s a contralto, so there might be a fuller sound from her. He’s singing Tenor but he’s not projecting
If you were around back then, John hit it huge on the sitcom, Welcome Back Kotter and then made the rounds on tons of variety shows, which were all the rage in the mid-70s. He did lots of singing on those shows, so Grease seemed like a natural when he was cast.
Daryl Dragon played for The Beach Boys before, Captain and Tenille. I always hear Love Will Keep Us Together in the organ solo in The Beach Boys, Long Promised Road.
John is adorable here, heartthrob!
john is unbearably beautiful
God, he was soooo YOUNG!
+Dreadly Me still hot tho!!! I am growing with him ;)
This was his Welcome Back Kotter days.
@@usfanlovesjiwoo1978 22 years old.
I will never break your heart John!!!💓
i don't care what people say about him he will always be vinnie barbarino to me
He was totally singing as Barbarino. And auditioning for Grease.
Good times so long long ago…makes you nostalgic with a tear in your eye
Awesome duo; John Travolta the natural tenor, and Toni Tennille the high contralto.
It's HORRIBLE.
@@HomeAtLast501 😂😂😂 lol
It’s not horrible!

Don´t forget that Mr Travolta was a singer/dancer back in the day ;-)
I think he sings great, I remember that time when I was a child and he's very talented guy...
I like this version thank you John Travolta
Travolta good voice
I love it. Toni is perfection and John sings very well. The vocals are live.
Bobby inVa And the piano man was hitting the drums and playing the bass too.
Definitely live. John's line at 2:15 is supposed to be "You put the spark in the flame" They both know he goofed and they are totally laughing. Great clip!
The captain for sure wants to break not the heart, but the Travolta's face, if he get one step closer to tenille...
yeah, it seemed he was, "I don't want her but I don't want anyone else to have her, either". Poor Toni.
um dos homens mais bonitos do século
Love this
Sem palavras..Nao sou desse tempo..Mais admiro as músicas dessa época...Hoje em dia ta dificil escutar música
Imagine if it was Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta singing this lol
Shit wld be awesome
Wow, they only sing (and they get along) and they were already entertaining, unlike today!
I remember this like yesterday....me and my geeky 12 yr old self. Love it!!!
How did I not know this existed until right now???
My god good old days! I was a teen back then. wished they would have still been here ! ❤
Wow....un encanto este hombre , aparte muy guapo el mejor .....saludos desde 🇨🇱

That purdy cut is EPIC !
you can never take away the boy in the plastic bubble!!
Life was just so much fun back then!
I remember watching this episode when it was first on in 1976.

John my heart is beating hard.
They were both very good singers back in the day
The crowd seems to be extremely enthusiastic
You're a bot.

lol!!!! :D :D :D Good one!! But so true cause it's the only way you could really listen to it.
It took me a quart of Jack and a speedball, but I got there.
Don't go breaking my balls lol 😁😂🤣😊
Drunk loser
Boy Travolta was so, so, so, so young. But when I see how stars age, I actually don’t feel so bad! 😁😅😂
liiiindo
Omg! Travolta got a voice like an angel 😮
lol no, not really. But he was cute.
🙈. He was passable. But sweet.
He sounds just as good as she does and he can act too. Rip captain.
Always had a major crush on Tenille.

Чем глубже в прошлое, тем сердечнее люди. Милашки.

Sorry to hear that
Wow @uhavemooface for your Aunt to be part of that scene so cool ^^

John not really a dancer, or singer, but he sang and dance with the best of them...
He is the best, just love him, always did & always will!
you like pulp fiction
+Mr Peanuts pulp fiction was cool. that and jackie brown i think was Quentins best work.
Penis friction ....
The Captain Rocks!
I like this duet, no John is no Elton but still he carries this great pop song well

So seventies!
adoroooooooooooooo
I love how he talks :D
Love that belated, post psychedelic paisley-orange-sunshine stage set design.
Remember when live performances were actually live, and the singers stayed in key, and weren't auto tuned?
Long Live Old School 😎🎸🥁🎸🤘✌️

Sweetheart, I love you forever till death
Truly excellent. As good as the Elton John version. Travolta is a beautiful person. Wish he could go away from this sect.
Barbarino and Tenille!
Wow, this HAD to be BEFORE his Saturday Night Fever days, notice he could barely "move" with the music!! He was still a cutie though! :-) Also, love the fact he was so friendly with the audience...
Amei assistir esse vídeo. QUE NOSTALGIA BOA!!!
Better than 2012? This is definitely correct!
Ele é um dos melhores, bom em tudo o que faz.
Yes he is and his children are very talented too
i dno if its possible for sum1 to love john as much as i do :O hes perfect!
I don't know why I like this video, but I do.
The Captain is not looking too happy that Travolta is singing with his lady....He's watching like a hawk....
Can't spell 'too'?

Compared to the horrible music that is popular today, this is not bad.
Faboulous❤

Travolta best that Elton!🎤🎶
Para mim, a música fica melhor com ele não só pela voz mas, porque ele dá um aspecto um tanto cínico. 😂
