Best songwriter EVER in my opinion. When i was 15 my friend Scott Stewart showed me Bright Eyes. It changed everything I thought I knew about songwriting and life in general. He's a wizard, except his name isn't Harry Potter.
I read an article a couple years ago about how Conor Oberst changes the lyrics purposely because he doesn't like when people sing along with him. Not sure if it's true
@@sourpatchtakis9412 I agree. My reference was to songs that, compared to purely mainstream expectations, one might understand to be off the mainstream in the direction of emo. Maybe there's a more accurate way of conveying Conor's variation from the mainstream in his way of not always stressing good pitch, with which you could educate me.

Beautiful song, but the voice could be so much better... don't insult me ,is my sincere opinion.
I think it fits the song. He sounds vulnerable and that's what the song is about.
From my perspective, songs that are off in the "emo" direction don't need to obey the conventions of other styles.
