I mean, he doesn't really unless it's in the wet, but I'd just call it a different approach rather than a slower one.

@@amigdala1364I know a lot of driving on the limit and racing line and this was virtually a perfect lap. Only small mistake was the slow speed right hander early on but that corner you won’t lose any real time missing the apex as he is still carrying the speed.
This lap was like one of his best laps in his career. Basically perfection.

Funny I was just watching Brundle's commentary on Hakkinen's and Schumacher's era of drivers' onboad pole positions. Never used any superlatives but when it's his compatriot, the commentary is full of them. LOL.

He was meatriding Alonso at monaco 2007 and Kimi at spa 2007 so idk man, just off the top of my head. Maybe he just didn’t do it at first and then started more towards the mid 2000s.

That’s just his driving style, he doesn’t have enough grip back there to get it done, so he finds speed on very late trail braking instead

@@amigdala1364 I don't really understand what you are getting at. Looking at Ham's onboards it is very clear he uses the dry racing line almost every single time, except in the wet. I'd also argue that not focusing on exits and instead on carrying speed through a corner has its own advantages as well. If anything, since he doesn't have to work the throttle much on the exit, it saves his car fuel and also prevents him from spinning out.
