I bought this exact monitor thinking it was 1440x3440 but I thought that because the store assistant lied to me and said that it was. It doesn't even mention the resolution on the box anywhere.
Just bought mine on amazon for $600. I have a gtx 1070 and prefer max settings in games so for me it was a no brainers to go with the lower rez especially given I didn't have the money for the particularily expensive 3440x1440 monitors with similar refresh rates.
1:50 it actually does come with the monitor, but it's removable. (small hook that comes in a tiny package, and plugs into the monitor, after you get your cable through it)
I'm waiting for that and proper color gamut, so it can work for both photo editing and games, but I really want it at 38" wide. I think LG has one now, but the refresh is not there.
I'm really impressed with how far things have come, in the computer world! I'm tempted to jump on the bandwagon and build myself a new powerful multi media computer, within a 2500.00 budget. All this stuff looks like a ton of fun.
you can get 100 Hz 1440p ultrawide for the same price or less even LTT covered that cheap korean 1440p 100Hz ultrawide which is like $600-$700 though the cheap one was lacking on colour reproduction
It makes sense though. Everytime a company brakes the record on "Highest refresh rate monitor", it's usually a 1080p monitor, and the 1440p model with the equivalent refresh rate usually doesn't come out for a another 2 - 3 years, however, you have to give it to LG, usually such a monitor would come equip with a TN panel, but they managed to upgrade it to IPS.
Linus, you and your team should develop the next holy grail of a monitor. Just don't sell it so expensive so that only 1% of gamers can enjoy. Great video.

Unoriginal UA-cam Name if you actually knew, higher frames is better overall quality movements in your screen, it's not just for gaming, you are free to search for yourself🙃
Unoriginal UA-cam Name Nope i definitelly love high resolution and that's what i crave when it comes to gaming or watching movies myself, trying to find the best resolution for gaming ( 1440p ) with the highest refresh rate possible ( 165 hz ) is is prefered to me instead of 4k with 60hz :) that's all there is to it.
Austin did the OC through the menu and it went right to 166hz, I wonder if Linus used the monitor's OC option or if he just tried to do it through graphics software.
As someone that owns PG348Q, all I can say is after you try Ultrawide, you become a Ultrawide master race. For me the benefits and experience you get on it is miles ahead standard 16:9. Only drawback is that as of right now there is pretty much one GPU that can run 3440x1440 in majority of games around 80-100 fps is 1080Ti. Only Volta / future Vega will provide a butter smooth experience on this resolution. However if you can, get one, expensive but great. Get 21:9 in general, its really nice resolution for pretty much everything, and there are only couple of games I was not able to run natively on 21:9, most of them are pre-2005 games and of course modern Resident Evil 7 (facepalm).
Yep. The 1080 spec is pretty on the low side. Monitors last at least 7 years before it is replaced so it could see one or two graphics card upgrades which increases frame rates and make use of the extra resolution
I wish I knew how to make monitors so I could scam some idiots by creating 300 Hz super ultra fast refresh 16k pixels 3d screen that costs 4k$ Exactly how this company is doing...
i'm using 5760*1080 and when you lean back to play in surround the resolution isn't terrible at all, it just seems like the vertical field of view could be larger.
@Nedja Bajic FUCK OFF!!! for the rest of you nerds, it's a joke. I was wondering how many would actually answer with serious answer. Come on, you nerds, you could have at least answered back with a joke and make this a joke train, oh well
Idk why everyone thinks so big of 1440p. Being ultrawide, 144hz, and IPS is nearly perfection, 1080p doesn't bother me, the difference it's not that huge. It's worth it.
Im sorry but dont you see how laggy 4k is when gaming thats why no one has made 4k with *144hz* for gaming *YET* lol I dont know anymore i mean i love 4k but gosh damn thatll be in the future we'll just have to wait...
Still rocking this monitor with a 3070. To get a better image quality over the standard 2560x1080. Use Nvidia DSR to upscale to 3840x1620. Turn off MSAA as it's not needed. Image quality is excellent 👍
If you have a Blue Ray drive and want to use your micro atx machine at your media center, for instance in your living room, you will probably already have a 4k IPS TV so, speaking for gaming/working this monitor works fine. For those that need a monitor to watch movies at 4k well.... get a Predator or a Strix.
Do not buy this monitor. This thing will look significantly worse than a 24in/1080p display. It only has 81 pixels per inch. A 24in/1920x1080 display has over 10 more pixels per inch. You're paying a premium price for nothing at this point. Sure you're gaining some extra real estate, however, it comes at a cost of significant image quality reduction. This screen should be 350 to 400 dollars with the gsync module, and 250 to 300 without it. Buy a 27 inch 2560x1440 gaming display, or save your money for a real ultrawide. If you want your display to look good, aim for over 100ppi. If you are coming from a 24 inch 1080p monitor this display is going to be a downgrade in image quality.
Linus as a tech guy i a little surprised to hear you quote the manufacturers specified response times as its often far from what the product you get will do, many panels reviewed online state a 5 ms response time but under testing work out to have a 10-20 ms depending on what is displayed.
2 years later, I still can't find any affordable 1440p monitors that don't compromise heavily on something else. I need G-sync, ultrawide and >100Hz, and compared to this 1080p monitor, 1440p ones are adding 300-500 eur to the price, even the ones which are 100 or 120Hz
+710underground The price, at costco, the Lenovo Legion 1050ti Laptop has 2tb + 256gb storage and costs $200 less than the ROG 1050ti with 1tb + 128gb storage. The Republic of Gamers stuff is severely overpriced compared to the competition.
THE CRINGE IS REAL: When you can tell Linus is dying inside attempting to say ANYTHING positive about this monitor because of his relationship with LG and the need for add revenue on sponsor spots... THE WORDS WRITTEN ON THIS REVIEW WERE SOOOOOOOO CAREFULLY SELECTED... mad props on the "best monitor" sell-out bro... I know you gotta feed everyone and keep the lights on... Now go have a team meeting and pep-talk everyone "Guys I'm sorry, I can't believe I just reviewed this shit and may have NOT prevented someone from paying 1k USD for a 1080p widescreen when you can even get the same for cheaper"....
But it's not just a 1080p widescreen, it's an ultrawide 1080p with a high refresh rate, good coloring, low input lag and a curve. Either way, i'm not buying it for at least another year.
IKR "Lower res could be considered as much a feature as it is a problem" Linus just went full Apple salesman right there. "Ultrawide is an awesome experience" *CSGO runs in background* which is known NOT to support ultrawide, it's just stretches the image to the sides...
Well look at it this way, you have no say in the thumbnails. You can either stop watching and unsubscribe if they bother you, or you can accept that there's a real business reason that the thumbnails are done like this.
Yes I know and I have unsubscribed because they bother me. I commented because I hope that one day maybe things will change. After watching so many LTT videos, I think a little comment on why I have stopped watching is justified.
Its funny how the chick always gets the surprised scenes. Geish!! Im with you linus waiting for the higher res monitor with the same refresh features or higher. Geish!!
Finally! There should be more 1080p UltraWide monitors with G-sync. My problem with 1440p is the requirement to upgrade the GPU every 1-2 years in order to keep up with the newer and more demanding games. I have a gtx 1080 and want to be untroubled by that, so I'm gonna buy a 1080p ultrawide. Unfortunately, until now the only product in this category was the Predator Z35.
I'm just going to wait for a 3440x1440 144Hz 1ms motion blur reduction (I could compromise for 5ms or less) curved 34" 21:9 FreeSync or G-Sync LED-lit UltraWide monitor with accurate color reproduction for media content editing (Photography, artwork, video editing, CAD, CAM, etc.), without light bleed or dead pixels, yet has very capable brightness, has an option to be mounted to a VESA mount arm, and can game on it too... THIS is what I've been hunting for and am holding out for! Oh... and if it's under $1,000 that would be pretty fricken sweet.
I'm waiting patiently for the right resolution and refresh rate to go ultrawide. Overwatch may lack proper ultrawide support even by then but that won't stop me. It'll be exciting to get past 2160p UW at 165hz.
As of right now (black friday week), the LG 34GL750-B (Freesync - G Sync certified, instead of G-Sync) Is available for 379€ on amazon which is a steal for an ultra wide. And especially if you are still rocking a GTX 970 or anything below an RTX 2070 really, you will never cap out the 144 Hz framewise on a much more expensive 1440p ultra wide. You will inevitably have to scale down resolution which will have you play on 1080p again but that will look worse on a 1440p monitor. So yeah: My options are either to get a nice sub 400€ ultrawide and upgrade to a solid mid-range Radeon GPU in 2020 to really hit that 144 Hz on ultra settings in Iceborne for the total cost of around 700€ OR I can buy a 1000€ 1440p, 144 Hz ultra wide monitor and a 550€ GPU. The total investment is 700€ compared to 1500+€ so it's very clear to me what I'll be doing.
Please make a huge circle of monitors with a small opening and use a rolly chair to spin all the way around to different monitors while holding a wireless mouse and watch as the mouse passes over all the monitors. Btw I mean like 50 monitors.
What I'm waiting for: HDR, 1440p Ultrawide, OLED, 144Hz, Freesync 2 all at a Korean monitor price ~$400. How long would I have to wait for? 3 or 4 years?
what do you need 144 fps for? The human eye can only see 8 gb of ram.
Whenever I drive a car and I see a pedestrian on the road I immediately know that only thing that matters is a RAM speed.

However if you can, get one, expensive but great. Get 21:9 in general, its really nice resolution for pretty much everything, and there are only couple of games I was not able to run natively on 21:9, most of them are pre-2005 games and of course modern Resident Evil 7 (facepalm).
I built my pc today thanks linus and team for all of the info
It's not the "fastest"--doesn't ASUS have a true 200hz+ monitor? Linus reviewed it too.
akahomie100 Acer has a 200hz ultrawide, so yeah its not the fastest
VA tho
I've been using an acer z35 now for a year or so. overclocked at 200hz (2560x1080) + gsync. It was around $700 for a refurb.
but hardly see the point of 200hz. I don't think many video cards can give you such frame rates with high quality graphics
Farine gsync ftw. its np if your framerate is 160-200 with a 1080ti
Wtf my AOC 2560x1080 monitor is 200hz..?
Maybe 2560 isn't wide enough for Linus.
Rukia Kuchiki [1337] it’s because likes load after views
Barro 2560x1080 is 21:9! 2560x1440 is 16:9
Well Title says *FASTEST* Ultrawide Gaming Monitor not most Pixels...
Rukia Kuchiki [1337] you know 200 is faster then 166?
Great video as per usual ;)
What a disgusting name for that monitor though xD
i know they meant industrial preservatives... but Beef jerky by nature is meat dried up in preservatives, so no preservatimes just meant seasoned meat
we agree 100%. We have both here (this LG unit and the X34 Acer) - and the X34 resolution @100Hz i think is worth it @3440x1440
I'm buying this one. Gimme the lower res and higher refresh rate!!!
0:12 1:56 - Dont forget to activate your Windows! :)
Observation Level - 99999
linus bring on the ROG Swift PG35VQ !!! :)
Yep. The 1080 spec is pretty on the low side. Monitors last at least 7 years before it is replaced so it could see one or two graphics card upgrades which increases frame rates and make use of the extra resolution
I love that wider FOV is touted as a benefit for CS:GO specifically, considering that most CS pros still play at 4:3 aspect ratio.
Can you make me a watercooled tshirt ? Pls
Who is watching this midnight
I wish I knew how to make monitors so I could scam some idiots by creating 300 Hz super ultra fast refresh 16k pixels 3d screen that costs 4k$
Exactly how this company is doing...
I tried that jerky and its freakin badass....
Thanks linus.... for once....
i'm using 5760*1080 and when you lean back to play in surround the resolution isn't terrible at all, it just seems like the vertical field of view could be larger.
The cringe for denis high five
Once you switch to 144hz...
You can never go back
you don't need an ultra-wide display, just sit closer to your monitor
Brolivia Wilde and become blind
Dave Sterling, That only works for games like "The Division".
@Nedja Bajic FUCK OFF!!!
for the rest of you nerds, it's a joke. I was wondering how many would actually answer with serious answer. Come on, you nerds, you could have at least answered back with a joke and make this a joke train, oh well
Or get triple monitors and setup Nvidia surround or whatever boom !
LiamYT, no thanks. The VR route is much better!
I like their naming scheme. It actually means something.
I love my Lg 34UC79G-B (I think it's right :D). For the price of 600€ it's a perfect Gaming Monitor für me. It has also 144Hz and I think 1ms(?).
Oh Linus, your forgot to activate your windows! @01:57
Still 1080p........not worth it.
Idk why everyone thinks so big of 1440p. Being ultrawide, 144hz, and IPS is nearly perfection, 1080p doesn't bother me, the difference it's not that huge. It's worth it.
2560x1440 looks better than 2560x1080 because of more pixels. Now I do like ultrawides, but I will not have one until a 3440x1440 144hz one is made.
Im sorry but dont you see how laggy 4k is when gaming thats why no one has made 4k with *144hz* for gaming *YET* lol I dont know anymore i mean i love 4k but gosh damn thatll be in the future we'll just have to wait...
Why is the monitor so dusty?? Making 4k shots of something filthy??
ivo vaneerd 8k they upgraded
Yeah! How hard is it to clean the product before filming the B roll footage? It's just looks sloppy and half arsed
+QuietSpaceGaming I know i meant more on youtube.
+Nathan Scown Exactly, whats the point of having nice footage of a dirty product. Not the first review that has a ton of dust on it.
"Please Activate Windows"
Widescreen 1080p LMAO!
144hz jackass
Thanks now I don't have to waste my time watching this.
The Moderator
What's wrong with that?
is Ultra widescreen, 21:9 is the future
If you are coming from a 24 inch 1080p monitor this display is going to be a downgrade in image quality.
thank you dude i was going to buy this monitor but i will go with the asus 1440p
I have a 21:9 1080p and I dont see any issue with the pixels. its enough.
Guys google DSR
Ye but the Display Resolution is 2560x1080 on this monitor Not 1920x1080
Linus as a tech guy i a little surprised to hear you quote the manufacturers specified response times as its often far from what the product you get will do, many panels reviewed online state a 5 ms response time but under testing work out to have a 10-20 ms depending on what is displayed.
2 years later, I still can't find any affordable 1440p monitors that don't compromise heavily on something else.
I need G-sync, ultrawide and >100Hz, and compared to this 1080p monitor, 1440p ones are adding 300-500 eur to the price, even the ones which are 100 or 120Hz
Whats wrong with republic of gamers lol
710underground Nothing. The only problem I have is that it can be really expensive.
republic of edgelords
Republic of edgy neckbeards who are totally cooler than those other nerds, MOM!
It's a 1337 G4m1nG brand. THE 1337 G4m1nG brand. Separates poor gamers from ones with regular jobs.
+710underground The price, at costco, the Lenovo Legion 1050ti Laptop has 2tb + 256gb storage and costs $200 less than the ROG 1050ti with 1tb + 128gb storage. The Republic of Gamers stuff is severely overpriced compared to the competition.
THE CRINGE IS REAL:
When you can tell Linus is dying inside attempting to say ANYTHING positive about this monitor because of his relationship with LG and the need for add revenue on sponsor spots...
2560x1080 166Hz LG for €900 or 2560x1440 165Hz ASUS/ACER/AOC for €600-€750? .... damn.. hard decision!
"Ultrawide is an awesome experience" *CSGO runs in background* which is known NOT to support ultrawide, it's just stretches the image to the sides...
yup sell out, these companies need to push new buzz words like 144hz when you can watch t.v in 60hz and not miss any motion.
always my argument, if you can afford 1200 for a monitor, then a graphics card is meh, its the engine that runs the show.
Im reporting this for misleading sponsored content.
I love my ultrawide LG monitor which is called the 29um58-P. Names are on point.
Nothing beats the experience on my X34 Predator 100hz Gsync 21:9 with Witcher 3, GTA 5 and WoW. 3440x1440 of course. Best atm for me.
Another gay canadian thumbnail. Seems to be their main export.
boof niotyros
u neab ygggggggggggg giif dniuitr 0
good monitor please
thanks
fast pace game - shows csgo xD
you probably havent even spent 100 hours on the game lol
On a fukin ultrawide while csgo doesnt support 21:9 aspect ratio flawless logic
avckubw938v1bnvowiqv well it is fast pace . What ur talking bout?
RKrisz csgo supports ultrawide just not the menus
colg i have 2k hours in csgo. game is slow as fuck compare to quake
Love the videos, Linus and Team! They are some of my favorite on UA-cam, and they keep getting better! Keep it up 👏
This monitor is also available with Freesync (and cheaper) btw
Used to love Linus, but the thumbnails are so awful that now I just ignore these videos.
And yet here you are. Watch his video explaining it, understand how UA-cam works, or just stop coming here.
I understand it gets them more views. Maybe I am getting too old for ridiculous thumbnails and expect something more professional.
Crimly I'm with you. These thumbnails are fucking lame. I still believe they make LTT look bad, even if they supposedly make more money from them.
After watching so many LTT videos, I think a little comment on why I have stopped watching is justified.
are you using the 1080TI, that is the only card to power that monitor properly.
I'm happy with the x34 I got yesterday. Bit of getting use to from a 30" 1080p
Love the slow mo bit
I have the freesync version of this monitor and got it $550. Very good for gaming.
Does 1080p really bother you? I was happy with 720p and if my 720p IPS didnt put out I would still be using it
I'm just going to wait for a 3440x1440 144Hz 1ms motion blur reduction (I could compromise for 5ms or less) curved 34" 21:9 FreeSync or G-Sync LED-lit UltraWide monitor with accurate color reproduction for media content editing (Photography, artwork, video editing, CAD, CAM, etc.), without light bleed or dead pixels, yet has very capable brightness, has an option to be mounted to a VESA mount arm, and can game on it too...
It'll be exciting to get past 2160p UW at 165hz.
that "ohhhhh" moment when you find out the resolution.
I actually have the similar model but with 60hz cap of course.
Now this is why I love Linus. A tech video sponsored by beef jerky and shaving products. Just perfect.
