I'm amazed how well they grow with that set up really good job seriously. Couple tips would be picking the first sprouting pods out to promote new leaf growth while the plant is young and if leaf damage occurs, picking those leaves off to also help promote new growth by removing wasted energy.
I was pleased to see you posted a video about Pot A Peno peppers. I started 2 of these in an Aerogarden Harvest 40 days ago. They started producing flower buds a few days ago and are about 6 inches tall. I’m looking forward to seeing some peppers.
Glad you were able to save the pepper plants! Pot-a-peño was the first plant that I planted in my first Aerogarden (Harvest 360). I grew one plant in the unit and it did very well. At one point, it had 20 peppers ranging in size from one inch to almost ripe. That seemed to be the limit because the newly formed ones would drop. I kept it for a little over four months and finally needed to try something else. Such a good plant for the Aerogarden!
That is unfortunate. I tried a few varieties from ParkSeed so far, and luckily, all of them were good. But we never know when we will get a bad batch of seeds.
@@aerogardenexperiments the seeds were fine but for example I ordered 50 seeds and got 10...was promised over and over to make up for it and nothing happened. This was from their site and I figured maybe I'll have better luck on Amazon and had exact same issue...I ordered a 25 pack seeds...got 9 in the pack. Again when I gave ved review was promised more seeds to be mailed...got nothing. I'm a easy to please to customer..had they made good on thier word I'd be a customer for life!
This is awesome to see that you can split multiple sprouts in one sponge to others. It is also awesome to see a successful jalapeño growth. I have the farm 24 xl on one side i have 2 sponges with jalapeños and 2 with tomatoes. The tomatoes are growing pretty good at 7 days in already removed their domes. However my hopes are with the jalapeños.
These look amazing. I was so hurt that I had to get rid of one of my pot-a-peno plants. The other one was just about dead, just like yours when I moved it outside. It's making a nice coneback. This was all because of aphids. I seem to recall you had a problem with aphids at one point. What did you do that finally got rid of them for good?
Hi Kris, yeah, I keep hitting Aphids once in a while and I couldn't win. The only option I follow is to discard everything except the plants that Aphids don't like. So, when I see Aphids, I switch all my gardens to tomatos, petunias, Fenugreek, and Cucumbers for 3-4 months. Then I slowly add other varieties one by one.
Beneficial insects are great. I like green lacewing larvae even for indoors. They are way better than ladybugs. Why bother fighting the pests when you can have an army fight on your behalf? Green lacewing larvae took care of both aphids and spider mites for me when fighting them in the past was a big hassle. The lacewing larvae are harmless to humans and they'll cannibalize each other or disperse when there are no more pests to eat. The adults aren't predaceous, they feed on nectar, pollen, etc. They're completely unscary.
How many should I plant in an AeroGarden Bounty Basic? One...Two Plants or Three? Maybe they are so big....I just should plant one... Thank You so Much!!!!
Lovely crop of peppers you have there. My pepper plant in the unit is producing a LOT of peppers. Every time I look at it there's another one. The pepper plant that started life in the unit but grew too tall (I've pruned the new one back more) and sits on the windowsill has, at the moment 3 good size peppers, one has turned red and has started producing a lot of flower buds again. I notice you harvest yours when they are still green. Is this just the variety you're using, green only?
@@aerogardenexperiments I haven't tried growing sweet peppers in the units - yet but I'm making curry tonight so will be using the red chili and possibly one of the green ones too.
Especially for Peppers, I don't change the water unless I see any issues. I see Pepper plants are sensitive to play with root system. Also, they drink a lot of water and keep emptying the bowl. So, I let the water go all the way to the bottom and then refill water.
Did you get aphids anymore? Whenever I am trying to grow any kind of chilies or jalapeños at my AeroGardens I keep getting aphids somehow. It’s so frustrating.
No hand pollination required. Pepper flowers are self-pollinating and take care of themselves. However, shaking the plants a little bit will increase the chances of pollination and yield will be much better. @aerogardenexperiments thank you for your response and your videos! I finally now have one flower that has bloomed and many big buds that look like they want to open (also pot-a-peños). it is the 20W model? it is amazing that so many peppers can be grown with such low power.
Yes, it is 20W model. PotaPeno is a wonderful jalapeno variety and work best in Harvest models.

Do you prune some leafs off becaue there are so many covering up all the buds and give the plant airflow?
That's exactly true. I prune the plants every now and then to give them a good airflow.
