OMG this really makes me realize how much I hate this. I can’t believe I completed nursing school in a homeless shelter with my daughter to only be in a career that I dread. I’ve always known that bedside wasn’t for me, but now I’m stuck as I don’t even know how to start in other areas. 😢😢😢
Your degree is so, so valuable. It doesn't need to be utilized in the hospital only. You can do a clinic, outpatient dialysis, home health, home hospice, med spas, school nursing, community nursing, telehealth, outpatient psych/behavioral health, insurance companies... heck, you could even been a freelance medical writer on Upwork! Most nursing positions take new grads. They know you'll need to be trained, so don't worry if you're not already experienced in the area. You've sacrificed so much to make that degree work, let's make it work FOR YOU!
So you managed nursing school while be homeless and having a child and don’t think you can figure out how to leave bedside? I think you are forgetting who you are . Your clearly a badass that hit comfortable and forgot you were you! I am sure you got this
Awesome I love it and I know what your are talking about I do part-time at medsurg at Gibson area hospital and that’s a first for me, I am an oncology nurse. So yes, I had to learn the sequencing that you just layer out I made a couple of UA-cam videos about my medsurg experience - it freaks me out 🙈
Hi Karina! This video was a sample report on a med-surg patient, so any info I shared was worth passing along to another shift. It's only about 4 minutes long, which is a pretty typical length of report on a med-surg patient (should take 2-5 min to do that). It's paramount to patient safety that you remain focused during that fast-paced short information sharing time. Eliminate distractions, all information is important, get practice writing it down quickly, use abbreviations, and pre-fill out part of your report sheet if you're having trouble keeping up at first with basics (name, room #, docs, allergies, isolation, history, code status) . With practice and experience, you'll get better at it.
Phenomenal question. I think a lot comes down to knowing your responsibilities and taking ownership of them. So, if the CNA has to bathe and walk patients, they're not waiting around for the nurse to tell them what to do. Promptly answering call lights. Working together with the RN, whether that's for bathing or turns. Proactively letting the RN know if something concerning was noted (behavior change, elevate BP, etc).
Jesus loves you. Even though all have sinned and deserves punishment, Christ offered His life to pay the debt of our sins. Believe, Trust and Repent. God bless you..
Can I ask a personal question How much med Surg nurses make If u u can estimate for me 😁,I wanna b 1 one day, do they also work at theatre? I love working at theatre 😁,and also one thing do they carry stethoscope I love that instrument 😊😊😊
The rate of pay varies widely across the country in the US. It can be as little as $40K starting out, to $60K depending on where you live and if you work night shift. I'm not sure what you mean by theatre. And MS nurses use a stethoscope every shift!
I'm a new grad who's on a tele med surg unit so this is perfect! Unfortunately I don't get that much info from my off going nurse!! 🙁
Yeah I'm an RT that bounces units a lot and I really wish I got the standard more detailed reports also

Great , short and detailed report
How can your PCT/CNA make your life easier? In other words, what makes a good tech in your eyes?
