So so so excited to meet you guys at Level Up and hopefully get a game in together! Would LOVE to learn New York Zoo, Lorcana or anything in the FTM wheelhouse!!
Resisting the urge to send you a million turn-based BGA invites lol but I gotta send you a Res game, happy to see it high on Jamie’s list. This is so fun to follow, you guys actually have diverse tastes - hyped for the top 20.
I have a question for you guys. You both play sooo many different games. Do you have trouble remembering how to play when you go back to a game that you haven’t played in a bit? And how do you go about learning a new game? Do you look at UA-cam videos? Read the rules completely first? Or, open it up and play through your first play while reading the rules the first time? Just wondering… learning to play a complicated new game can be time consuming to me. Thanks! Loving your rankings videos. 👍🏻
It really depends on the game, but usually we remember the core mechanisms but have to look up the nuance. As for our initial learn we are each different. Jamie is very much able to learn from just reading the rulebook. I learn from watching how to plays where the person actually plays while teaching. I very much need to see how things move. Setting up the game first then reading the rulebook also helps.
@@FostertheMeeple I am like you. I have trouble just reading. I do best looking up a play through video. I am a visual learner. I have watch it a couple times. Then I try to setup and play. It’s a slow process. 🤷🏻♂️
I started this hobby almost a year ago now, big thanks Jeff n Jamie, for their wonderful inspiration. At first, we had much difficulty understanding certain things in rule books, especially the interpretation of certain cards that were very ambiguous to us, especially in asymmetric card driven games. I realize there is unique jargon and core mechanisms in this hobby that get easier to learn with experience. But, yes, thank goodness for quality play through videos available that explain as they play! Thanks for awesome video and have enjoyed some of these games based on your rec!
"We've said it once, we will say it a hundred times, it transcends birds" - Jamie ""That, is a quote." - Jeff Great video, love the fun you guys are having. Lots of games here I haven't tried before, can't wait to see the top 20! Hope you feel better Jeff!
Yes, love the love for Star Wars Villainous! Playing that set, it was probably the most excited we've been since getting the original Disney box. And hope you have a great time at LevelUp! I'm hoping Alex will bring it back to New England in the summer (I've never been able to drive to a con or retreat before, and it was the perfect size for my partner to be able to enjoy it, as well), and that perhaps we'll get to play a game then. It was a blast getting to meet Jenna, Alex, Meg, and a bunch of other folks whose stuff I enjoy; you were definitely missed.
Absolutely agree, Root seems more daunting than it actually is. I was hesitant to get into it at first, since I would need to teach each faction to new players having never played it myself. Ended up playing for the first time with a French copy (I don't speak French). It was much easier to pick up than expected. Rules are well structured.
Hope you both have a great time at Level Up! Really wish I could go, but it's not in the cards this year. Enjoying these lists, and looking forward to the last two!
I agree with Empires of the North! Great game play, love the art, and thank you for mentioning there’s expansions especially an Egypt theme, I love Ancient Egypt themes. 😊 Also, I need to get my Fort to the table, still in shrink at year later 😞
I feel like you could figure out Jamie’s list by taking notes every time she mentions a game is higher or that you might see it later😂 great list as always some I really want to try.
I know we still have lots of games to go, but wondering how you feel about Blood Rage vs Matagot trilogy? Kemet/Cyclaedes/Inis? I know a lot of people have jumped on the Inis train and loved it. Great list!
Great video as always! Great to see Empires of the North getting some love. The fan made solo scenarios on BGG are fantastic. Give them a try if you haven’t.
ok, I finally gotta admit that I'm freaking in love with you guys. Every time I sit down to watch your videos, I gotta pause to go get tissues to wipe away tears. Either because you've made me laugh so much my sides are cramping, or it's because Juno is an adorbs furbaby and I want to squishhug her SO HARD. Oh, and you have GREAT taste in games! When I win the lottery, make some room for me in your house coz I will be moving in, ya'll will be retireing from the workforce and we will be gaming full time BABEH!
I played through a campaign of Imperial Assault, it would probably be even better playing it over a weekend. I found sometimes having weeks in between sessions and controlling 2 heroes, I would forget all the little tricks and abilities my characters had and it would cost me.
Have you played the original Imperial Settlers or just Empires of the North? We had the original way back in our early gaming days but sold it. I've always wanted to try Empires of the North, but haven't yet. I just saw that it has a solo mode, so now it's a little more tempting. I like a lot of other games you've listed in this section and have also added Rococo to my wishlist.
Loving also btw how many of my games are in your list! We don’t have as an extensive of a collection so it’s cool to see we’ve done a good job in what we have collected
Biggest thing I can say is be patient. Understand the first game will likely be tough, but it’s a game that really benefits from continued play. As everyone starts to understand each faction and how they all interact, it really starts to shine but it takes some time and commitment.
@@FostertheMeeple I’m also trying to get something I can buy to get the wife into gaming, she plays Jaws of the Lion with me but I don’t think she loves it 😅
I don't think I've ever heard anything more Canadian than you saying "outfits" and I'm here for it.
LOL checks out
Also, you really did a spot on impression of my voice at 16:34 , which makes me feel seen and heard and valued. Thank you. Yes, I am a little gerblin.
LOL

Thanks so much! Im feeling much better
Great list. Res Arcana and Empires of the North are favs around here. Zee Garcia gives Empires of the North a lot of love.
They’re great games for sure!
What a great list. Just so much fun. Thanks to both of you.
Love your videos! Love that you have to remind people that it's your lists and not theirs 😂 and I really like to see the contrast between your 2 list
Haha we need to keep the trolls at bay!
Great games on this list! Cubitos, Obsession, Calico, NY Zoo, Empire of the North, Fort……
Woo!!

I agree, Star Wars Villainous is the best Villainous IP!
You two are my go to players right now! Really enjoy your content!!!! Thank you.

Agreed! The biggest hurdle is knowing the factions and how they interact
Wingspan was a new gift for Christmas. I enjoy it, but haven’t won yet. Your lists are giving me some good ideas to think about.
Glad you enjoyed!
This is almost the most exciting video I've ever seen! Thank you!
LOL! You’re welcome :)
Love the way you say "outfits".

We haven’t played any of that trilogy so can’t speak to them unfortunately! I have heard great things about Inis though from friends

Yea that’s a big issue for me with campaigns too. If it’s a long break in between, lots can be forgot
Same for me with Blood Rage. Started playing it on Steam but still have no clue of the card combos. Still enjoy it a lot nevertheless.
It gets to be incredible once you know what to string together!
I'm adding so many things from your videos to my Amazon save for later cart I can't keep up! Lol
We apologize to your wallet
@@FostertheMeeple Don't it will be worth it whenever I can get all of em to table! Lol
Omg blood rage was already in my cart, that's cool to see it High up on your list
Btw sorry for commenting so much, I get excited when these videos come out and love seeing all the different games and placements lol
Every video of these, I’m like “GAH that’s not how the numbers wooooorrrrrrk”
Don’t even worry about it
Safe travels to LevelUp - we will see you there !
What new to you game would ya be most excited to try ?
You’ve convinced us to seek out Brian Boru.
Oh man I don’t even know! Hard to say really. See ya soon!

We have only tried the empires of the north version!

You’ll have to wait and see! We have 900 games in our collection give or take
@@FostertheMeeple that’s amazing!
Villainous will always be fun, but honestly just the disney one for me, the star wars one didn't feel balanced enough lol
Fair enough!!
Me and my friends are going to be playing root for the first time soon! Any tips for learning or playing the game before we get it to table?

Wonder if Roots still gonna be number 1 for Jeff 😅
Time will tell :)
@@FostertheMeeple ohh can't wait. I Think we all know what jaimes number 1 is at this point so that's not as surprising lol
Fort is a game I wanted to like but it just didn’t hit for me. I even tried with the dogs and cats expansion.
That’s fair!
Next one is next Tuesday? (I’m still new to the channel 😅)
It’ll be coming out soon! We post Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturday’s :)
