Hotarubi no Mori e or Patema inverted, highly recommend🥺
the most upsetting thing is that this beautiful film lost against boss baby at the Oscar’s
Wtf now I wish I didn’t know this. Damn.
Boss baby ? That lame ass movie 😭.
Grammys? Girl Grammys is for music 😂 I think you mean oscars?
I think you mean the academy awards aka the oscars
I'd probably say the arsonist piece of shit who caused the death of so many amazing people that made this work of art is worsethan it losing to Boss Baby but that's still pretty dumb but also shows what Hollywood is really about wait did this even get nominated feel it didn't
I’m glad yall noticed old girl who wasn’t actively bullying but was apart of the problem
Honestly, Miki (blonde girl) was the worst bully because she’s the kind that is hard to catch doing wrong. She plays the good girl facade and truly believes she did nothing wrong. The manga portrays it better but she was the only one who didn’t change and stayed an awful person.
Yeah other reactors genuenly fall for the innocent girl bs
If y’all didn’t realize, the blonde girl(Miki), was also a bully, she was just better at hiding it compared to the others. She was definitely the worst kind of bully since she would victimize herself and play innocent and gaslight others. I also do love Shoko’s character since it gives you insight on a teen girl struggling with being deaf and feeling like she’s a burden to others because of it.
Also, Shoya has the most realistic character development for an animated movie protagonist. You go from despising him to wanting to see him change for the better. This movie is about forgiveness and it’s pretty realistic because it’s also an accurate portrayal of bullying people especially those with disabilities. There’s sadly a lot of teachers in the school system that don’t do anything when it comes to kids being bullied until the last minute where it’s usually too late, and usually a lot of kids aren’t kind since they’re still very immature.
Yeah she made me so mad, and how they all blamed Shoya when he was calling her out on the bridge. Personally I don’t think Shoya should have had to apologize for anything he said on the bridge, well to Miki at least.
For everyone who hates that blonde glasses girl but hasn’t read the manga: that’s only the tip of the iceberg y’all 🤠 We get to hear her thoughts in the manga and it’s so bad
@@Caca-yq2di IT GETS WORSE??!!!!! She is already imo the worst and you are telling me she is even more sick in the head?
I really don't like all shoya's friends
ahhh i miss hearing the slander on her name
The worst character in the whole story is, by far, the teacher. He's the most morally bankrupt of any of them. Not only does he stifle his laugh the first time he hears her try and speak, but he constantly allows her to be bullied by the other kids, when it is happening right in front of him. The only time he finally addresses the problem seriously is when the girl's mother shows up to complain about the lost hearing-aids. Then he makes a big show about how "strict" he is by yelling for the first time.
His job was to correct that behavior months ago, but no, only when his job and reputation are possibly on-the-line.
Oh 👍
This is the movie that made me bawl my eyes out. Any anime movies that I watch would just make me cry straight away.
Every time I watch the end scene I cry regardless of knowing that it happened before hand. The music filled with Shoya crying after opening his eyes to the world again made me realize I was just like him throughout Middle school and high school
The first time I watched this movie I had to pause it 3 times because I was crying and sobbing so hard that I just couldn't watch 😭😭
@@fullmoon_OTrust me, this is the movie that would get you in the feels right away.
@@nowabugale5951exactly bro. real stuff
barely ever cry but Jesus fuck I was in shambles when I was this for the first time 😭
Also I believe Miki (blonde girl) outed Shouya in front of the class because she’s trying to divert attention away from herself and once again, make herself the victim.
Its crazy how everyone betrayed Shoya even though everyone was the problem. The teacher literally ignores the bullying until his head is on the line and he wants to act all tough. Every person in the room participated in bullying Shoko and they all used Shoya as a scapegoat to take it off their conscious making him want to kill himself later as a result of this. I hated Miki the most because she tried to act all innocent and like she was trying to stop it when she was right there laughing.
I think Naoka is the most interesting character in this movie. She has a maturity where she is able to easily address her and other's feelings. The movie is obviously about Shoko but Naoka is the only one to always show up for Shoya. Her reality is that Shoko showed up and nothing was the same, everyone was burdened by her disability and she caused her boy to be absolutely destroyed. And she had a lot of maturing to do obviously but she hates Shoko for the same reasons Shoko hates herself - thats why shes so surprised when she assumed Shoko hates her back and she denies it. Shes always trying to fix things with Shoya and restore him in a way. You can tell she has really strong feelings in regards to Shoya.
As much as I couldn't stand Naoka, she had me cracking up when she started fighting Shoko's mama. Girl, WHO ARE YOUR PARENTS?! Your neglected, no home training, wanna-be noticed having azz LOL
She was badass and stood up for herself. We need more people like her
@@jwj123abcI hope to God you are talking about the mom cause what ??
In the manga it’s hinted Naoka was abused by her mom, which makes a lot of sense.
I literally cried so much at the hospital scene where she apologise to mc mom while crying in her broken voice 🥺😭💔
When you understand its not just a regular romance movies, The movie tries to inspect something much more deeper than plane romantic feelings and does it pretty well
its a romance movie about you loving yourself
15:47 Evan is spot on here. The Dub made it extremely obvious from the start that there wasn't even a little bit of doubt. In the sub she actually sounds like a younger boy so it made you think damn maybe she actually is a boy until she revealed herself that she was a girl.
I mean women voice male child characters all the time so it’s not it’s hard to tell
Women voice child characters in sub and dub anime all the time I don’t understand what your point is lol
Also she use 'ore' the informal "I" usually used by men to refer to herself, I think that adds to the confusion whether she is a boy or a girl in Japanese. That's why I think Ishida never really think she is Nishimiya's little sis, it's really rare to see a girl use ore and the fact that she dressed like a younger boy didn't help either.
I'm nearly 50 and I've been watching anime since the mid 80s and this is absolutely the greatest anime film I have ever watched. Like, this is my "first date film." If I watch this with someone, it shows me immediately their capacity for care and compassion.
you know its a good movie when rob is engaged and jerry ain't slumped
Naoka is the first anime character that legitimately made me wanna jump through the screen and throw hands 😂
This movie is so good. Glad to see a reaction to this
So, a couple of things to note:
1) The information from the beginning of the video is incorrect. Yoshitoki Ooima is the original author of the manga, not the writer of the film adaptation. Reiki Yoshida was credited as series composer. Also, Naoko Yamada was the director and Taichi Ishidate was one of 5 unit directors (a term used to credit someone directing a part of something other than a TV episode, like OPs & EDs or parts of a film).
2) Maybe this was mentioned in the video (doubtful it was), but in case it wasn’t, Shouko Nishimiya in the dub was voiced by Lexi Cowden Marmen who is a deaf actress and Stephanie Sheh was the voice director for the dub (Hinata & Orihime’s voice actress from Naruto & Bleach respectively).
The water scene where he fell off the building wasn’t actually him falling in water, it was the sensation from falling and him hitting the surface.
Wait seriously??
@@Amyisntcreativeno lol. He fell in the river.

You guys need to watch Blue Eye Samurai. I'm not even half kidding. You can't miss out on this show.
the ending, def makes me cry, it really hits me, because he could do something that i can't do, looking at everything and everyone, and opening up, i'm just, to scared to, so seeing him do it, really hits me deep
The music for this movie was done by Kensuke Ushio; composer behind Chainsaw Man.
And Devilman Crybaby
oh my god no way! this movie broke me; can’t wait to see y’all’s reactions
I loved hearing your thoughts with the both the subtle and not-so-subtle notes of this movie. Really enjoyed this reaction!
Loved that you guys added longer cuts of the scenes and chill ambience guys ❤
truly one of the greatest movies i’ve ever watched. i literally changed so much for the better after watching this because i could relate to the mc a lot. 10/10
I love the final comments from u guys. Everything was super insightful. ❤ I have been watching a lot of reactions for this movie already and u basically said all of what they said combined. The one about giving cat girl a chance even when she was still annoying a little bit at the end, she’s finally moving to the right direction, u acknowledged she’s trying to change. Also about being kind to self. And about Shoko accepting the love other people is giving. 👏👏👏
Good insight at the end guys.
i love to see how everyone reacting to this just thinks about it alot and is mostly quiet and confused as well as scared
Great reaction, and great movie guys. Part of me does wish this movie had a sequel since the movie didn’t really adapted the rest of the manga. Also if you guys enjoyed this movie you’re going to love Your Name and I Want to Eat Your Pancreas. Both emotional and well written anime movies like Silent Voice.
been waiting so long for this
Love this movie cant wait for you all to react to your name.
I appreciate that you chose the dub over the sub in this case, not only because the English voice actress is actually hearing impaired (Japanese VA wasn't), but this dub was done with the utmost care. Children playing the kids, and all.
Don't listen to people that are mad at you for making your own choices. This is an amazing movie and the dub was successful. I saw this in theaters dubbed too and it was amazing.
People who must insist that you have to watch it a certain way are not doing you favors, they're just obnoxious.
Sub was better.
I personally think sub was definitely better but I never knew the the thing about the VA. That VA got it a little too down pat
@redragonyx your opinion is duly ignored
Look, it's fine to have an opinion that thankfully isn't rooted in fact.
As long as the actors convey what is happening, regardless of language, then it should be fine in their own right.
If you have to keep telling me "the sub is better," It doesn't actually mean that it is tbh.
I just think it's tasteless to be mad at people watching a series in a way that doesn't match than your own. Anime watchers are simply not a monolith.
I don't think the VA being deaf means the dub is better, but that explains why she sounded so good!
For me, Dub reminds me of the cartoons I used to watch that was meant for kids and I can't stand English VA's, but can ignore it and still enjoy a show. I do think that compared to the sub it's not as powerful though@@tygerchickchibi
People should try watching with subtitles AND dubbed in that order. It’s like watching a 2 for 1
My comfort movie y’all 💔
Every reaction is fun when Rob is awake🤣💯
Love this movie! ❤
I was always bullied by the boys at my school and even though my mom switched schools it kept happening. Teachers didnt care and there wasn't much my single mom could do, she worked all the time. I eventualy dropped out and discontinued school. I could only watch this movie once because it felt too relatable.
ahhh yes. just got home from work, boutta enjoy this with my food and suffer 😭☹️

I love watching people reaction to this anime for the first time 😂😂

ok i must be going crazy. i keep seeing reactions from different reactors that I SWEAR I've seen before. its been happening too often for it to be coincidence. like almost on a daily basis. it genuinely is driving me insane. someone plz tell me they feel the same
just a lot of deja vu
It’s cuz reactors are reacting to the same shows/movies at the same time
If you liked this film check out “to your eternity” it’s from the same author. The stories or vastly different but both stick to hard themes. A silent voice deals with remorse, regret, and forgiveness; while to your eternity deals with lose and moving on while carrying the memories of those you’ve lost.
To your eternity is about a shape shifting entity that can transform into things that die close to it. It eventually takes the form of a wolf and grows close to a young boy that was the wolfs owner. Setting it on a path of understand life and it’s existence as well as the joys and sorrows of being sentient.
i have woke up from being in the hospital and not knowing how i got there and just walked out and found a store to call some one to pick me up XD
Beautiful 🔥✨
Naw me too, I felt that! I don't think anyone was expecting her to fight back 😭💀28:21
It’s crazy how this movie is based on a true story but the guy “shoya” died irl
really like Rob reaction here ❤❤❤
How much of a hater do you have to be to learn sign language to insult a death person.
I find it kinda funny how kyo-ani studio keep the sister face hidden and it’s not the first either they did the same thing with hyouka mc sister lmao
I can’t believe I cried again 😂😂
I know it’s a group reaction video, and you guys need to react and talk and all. But i do feel like a precious movie like this should be watched alone or with groups in silence to feel the immersive nature and sound design of this beautiful film. And i would would always always say the sub version is better than the dub version.
Wait Pat, what's wrong with how Erased ended???😂😂😂
From a Japanese perspective, it feels strange when reading English-dubbed Japanese subtitles because the original nuances are not conveyed in detail.
I think the same thing happens when English-speaking people watch Japanese anime in their own language.
I would like to thank you for liking Japanese anime, including its different nuances.
By the way, I have the same hearing impairment as Shoko, and the bullying I experienced in elementary school was similar, although there were some differences in terms of magnitude.
La mejor película una maravilla, no puedo creer que fue echa por humanos, es una peli de otro mundo increíble ❤❤❤
This would have been all avoided if that dam teacher would have stepped in. He literally encouraged the bullying.
As a speaker of both languages, the people complaining that they watched it in dub sound silly as hell. I agree that the sub is definitely better but you are moving like the whole experience is ruined like if you were to watch ghost stories in sub. It is a great movie regardless and at the end of the day, if they enjoyed the movie there is nothing to say
‘Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms’ is the saddest anime movie for me.
I recommend reacting to the anime movie “Colorful”, it’s similar to “The Silent Voice”.
This video felt like it had all the important parts cut out. As someone who’s watched this movie multiple times before I kept noticing that the parts which you really get to see Shoyas character development and self hatred weren’t shown. As well as the parts which introduced characters or built new characters were cut out. This movie is an emotional masterpiece, but I couldn’t feel sad about it when all the parts building up to everything were cut short or not shown at all. I’m assuming so much parts were cut out to keep the video short as well as to have people pay for your patreon to see the full reaction, but it’s still somewhat irritating nonetheless. Also-Dub! (Boooo someone who prefers sub!!) The sub of this movie feels as though there's more raw emotion to it. When compared to the sub, the dub lacks the core emotions. Complaining about the dub doesn't really change anything, but watching in dub really takes away the raw experience the sub gives you. Since so much of this is missing, to someone who hasn't watched A Silent Voice, this was probably confusing. Though at the end, your takeaways from the movie don't differ much from mine and many others, and I mostly agree with the opinions on the movie and characters.
And (Nerd alert!! 🤓) Here’s some more backstory to some of the other characters I know from the manga.
Naoko mainly bullied Shoko because she likes Shoya.
Naoko also has a reading disability. This is why she got so annoyed in the classroom when she was called on to read before Shoko.
During the end of the movie, she’s (as you guys have already picked up) changing and trying for the better. I’ve seen people who didn’t notice the small detail of her taking the time to learn sign language, but it shows Naoko trying in her own way.
Suddenly changing and switching up her personality would be weird, and she’s a stubborn person. Which is why she doesn’t openly admit she’s trying to do better, but instead show it by insulting her in sign.
Kawai is a bitch. She’s worse than Naoko imo.
She also bullied Shoko when she was younger but always played victim.
The second fingers were pointed to her, she cried and pinned the blame on everyone else.
She subtly bullied Shoko so nobody could really call her out on anything.
Two examples of that was when people were insulting Shoko.
Instead of telling them to stop, she laughed and said, “That’s so mean”.
Shes acting as if she feels bad, but in all actuality, she finds it funny and is secretly enabling them.
Another example is a more subtle one.
When they were in choir, Kawai noticed Shoko was looking at her surroundings for a queue to start singing.
Kawai then pretended to sing/get ready to sing which made Shoko think it was time to sing.
You can see her act like she’s singing and Shoko looking at her.
By doing this, she humiliated her and got her made fun of for missing the queue and being too early.
She acts like she’s innocent and blames everyone else while subtly doing the same thing and crying when she’s called out.
Another thing is the teacher.
The teacher they had is a horrible one.
He didn’t do anything to step in when he saw the bullying.
He is the type of teacher who doesn’t do anything unless a superior is around, which is also why he only shouted at Shoya when his superior was there.
The teacher is really only there for the pay and couldn’t care less about the wellbeing of his students.
Not to mention he also put Shoya on the spot in front of literally everyone when he really couldn’t care less.
He witnessed a deaf student being bullied by peers and lose hundred of dollars worth of hearing aids and didn’t step in. And when the bullying happened to shoya, he didn’t step in too.
And Shokos mother isn’t that good as well.
It’s said that she never learned sign language and instead communicates through Shokos younger sister.
Her husband divorced her because of shoko being deaf, and the mother eventually denied shokos deafness by refusing to acknowledge it. Everyone in the family uses sign language with Shoko except her mom.
Also that one scene where Shoyas mom’s ear was bleeding.
Although it isn’t necessarily stated, many people believe that either Shokos mom made it even by ripping her earring off, or she ripped her own earring off as an apology.
(I honestly forgot his name)
But that red (ginger) haired guy absolutely despises bullying.
He cannot stand a bully and it’s really stressed in the manga.
Overall there’s really a lot to dip deeper into but realistically you guys probably don’t care lol
Sry for the tangent i js rlly love this animovie
U guys should react the dangers in my heart , it's peak anime first 3 episode it's kinda meh but for it's getting better n better

Yeah absolutely love koe no katachi. No joke I waited like 2 years for the film to come out then another year to get a decent translation so I could watch.
The author never really confirmed if the story was a love story or not the manga keeps it pretty vague as well. They really did hit most of the main plot points pretty well from the manga only real thing I can remember missing is a few things with Shoko’s mother and there are a few chapters after the festival at the end of the movie. Some including him thanking his old “friends” for pulling him out of the river, a film project, and the manga ends with shoko and shoya attending their elementary school reunion together.
Only real thing that bugs me about the show is that it’s fundamental point is to forgive others. But imo some of those fks don’t deserve to be forgiven. Shoya at least proved to Shoko how remorseful he is and apologized but the blacked hair chick and especially Shoya’s old friends barely but in any effort to show remorse and ask for forgiveness they just put it all on Shoya that did the most. And gd Miki (the blonde) just pisses me off the girl still bullied Shoko behind her back then acts all friendly to her face and when she gets called out on it she throws it all back into your face, she’s a textbook definition of a 2 faced btch
Naoko didn't get the punishment she desevered
The blonde hair girl you mean + that's not what this show is about she ain't evil like Dabi, Sukuna, Griffith and other characters 😑

Honestly, while I get it’s very easy to get mad at Naoka for slapping Shoko after she apologized to her but honestly. I understand Naoka’s frustration. It explains it in the manga and I’m sure the little sister explains Naoka’s frustration with Shoko and Shouko’s flaw itself, but the reason she got so angry with her is because she’s trying to be open and honest with Shoko and trying to have a real conversation with her, to bring up the past and talk about it. But Shoko is so conflict avoidant and has so much self loathing she just takes on the blame and apologizes. When you’re on the other end of that conversation and hearing her say this, I get why she’s angry. It’s like she’s not listening or acknowledging anything you’ve said.
Ueno slaps Shoko and she asks her “what are you gonna do? Apologize again? You have no intention of talking to me.” Paraphrasing but you get it. This is very telling of her issues with Shoko and why Ueno got so upset with her. Cause she’s just closing herself off, taking all the blame because it’s easier than actually confronting the problem. Ueno is a lot of things, but she’s always been one to tackle her feelings and problems head on. Shoko is the exact opposite.

I was really looking forward to this reaction however they ended up watching the dubbed version :( IMO, dubbed anime just seems to take away the emotion of the original anime. Really hoping you guys watch this extraordinary movie as intended: NOT ENG DUBBED. You'll hear & see the difference and understand why anime should be heard in Japanese
