The Menards I go to you would be lucky enough to find some buildings and track for O-gauge. I have not seen any kind of rolling stock O or HO gauge or locomotives
Also check out the Christmas Village section for accessories that can be use for O and H.O. scale trains. N scales check out Wal Mart and Dollar Tree Christmas sections for usable buildings.
Thank you Clyde, I should have shown that area but my mind was focused on the train items. Man hind sight is a killer.. I will check out the Walmart stuff for the N scale, thank you. Appreciate you watching and this info
Saw this in my reccommended and glad I clicked on it. O gauge BN flatcars. Much as I am not a huge fan of Menards O gauge (The track is workable for most people probably, but as fastidious as I am about clean rail, I find the metal they use has to be much more frequently cleaned than 100 year old O gauge rail I have) I do need a pair of cheapie BN flatcars to use as idlers on either side of a K-Line BN gondola, an ex-Marx tooling car that has working drop ends. Got a long pipe load for that car that needs idler flats and I am reluctant to take the trailers away from my MPC era Lionel BN TOFC flatcars.
Well I'm so glad you did click on it and I could be of help. Really appreciate you watching. That pipe load sounds like it would be a cool looking load..

I too would like to see some N Scale trains and buildings offered. It would be nice to know there would be another supplier of N. They just scaled down the O gauge stuff for the HO, they could do the same thing with N scale, Bachman has been doing that for years.
Menards is by far the most inexspensive when compared to Lowes or Home Depot we have quite a few in the chicago area and they always have the best price and with that 11% off they definitly do. They have a wide variety of train cars here.
Thats awesome for the train variety. Yeah I shop the other stores but half the time I end up at menards cause the others didn't have what I was after. Appreciate you watching
All Menards engines and cars are O27 scale. Semi scale. Buildings are O scale-ish. Vehicles are probably 1/43 scale a little larger than 1/48 O scale. Most vehicles used with O scale are 1/43. No one makes much in 1/48 scale vehicles. Good video.
Thank you Gary, since this video posted I have learned a lot from the comments that I had no prior knowledge of in the O scale department. Thank you. Really appreciate this comment.. hope others will see it as well. Thanks for watching.
Oh Yeah! My favorite Hardware store... Always... Always pick up a bag of Cheese Curds when you visit Menards LOL. Pro Tip, these are available all year round, you just need to go upstairs and poke around. Thank You for taking us on your Menards trip Pappy.
Thanks 3 Dub, yeah menards has something for everyone. We'll you know that 🤣 this was the one in Reynoldsburg. And that store last year couldn't get upstairs don't know why. And the trains were MIA.. glad ya liked it..
As far as I know none of the Menards does HO scale trains, they have some buildings in HO scale but that's it. Not too bad for instant gratification, got a few sets myself and the LEDs are flipping bright as heck but as an HO'er myself it'd be nice to have other options as far as rolling stock.
In the old days you would have the fun of taking it out of the box putting it together putting the details on it painting it etc etc now all you do is take it out of the box. But I have to admit the end product is better when they do it then when I do it.
Nice selection of O and HO scale buildings, not sure I've heard of Menards before, but really cool they carry so much train stuff! I have an HO scale water tower looks just like that, I might have to jump on their website and check out a couple of those buildings. Great Video as always Pappy, take care -Ken
Thanks Ken, they are in 15 states now, slowly spreading out.. I don't own any of it but the details look great. And I don't know about quality. But the guys that gave some hasn't complained yet glad ya liked the tour.. and always thank you for watching and the great support
Need Menards in western NC. When I lived in the southwestern suburbs of Chicago, I had a Menards within walking distance of my house. We loved the place. LISTEN UP MENARDS, COME TO WESTERN NC AND BE THE NEW, POPULAR KID ON THE BLOCK. Caps off, thanks.
Lol yeah, it does suck when you have a store you like and then there's is not one in the new location. But they seem to be spreading out more and more so maybe you might get one.. do appreciate you watching...
I didn't know they carried trains. Probably a good thing since there aren't hardly any toys stores anymore, and the amount of hobby shops isn't huge either.
🤣 I have a space above my garage that I have been eyeballing. I just mat have to act on it. HO is way more manageable for old eyes and they still don't offer enough N to make me happy. May be joining the HO brotherhood...
I'm fortunate in that I live less than a mile from a Menards store. If you are not as fortunate you can buy most of what is shown here off of their web site. About their track, the pins are always loose and a regulation track pliers will not tighten them. You didn't mention or I missed which Menards this is but at my local Menards all the track suffers from that deficiency.
They really have great items. I did read an article about the rolling stock that they don't hold up, the wheels thend to come loose, but for $20 (last year) they are a bargain. I think they have locomotives too, but again the prices may be a bargain but they may not be reliable.
@@mikebrzostowski8183 i am an N scale and getting together stuff to start an HO layout. I have no experience with O gauge.. I have seen a few folks purchase these models and change things out on them due to the price. They snap them up.. some of the model buildings are actually woodland scenics just themed changed for menards.. so that's good.. I should go back and check out this year's selection.. appreciate you watching
@TriGogglin it's a great hobby in any scale, I got my first train for Christmas be when I was 7 yrs. old. I still have it, now to my grandson. For me at 74, N scale it too small for me to handle. Great for a small area, as is HO. Enjoy your hobby, it will bring satisfaction in many ways, and time away from a cell phone. Lol

wow what a stop! but yeah, when I decided to get into modelling early this year I started out with choosing N but soon realized that the one weekend shop here (Dave's Trains & Things! @ the P&J flea market) is like 98% HO & up stuff so I'm doing both now for the joyvenience.
Thank you, yeah I still can't believe how long N scale has been around that the choices are still so limited compared to HO.. glad you enjoyed the video
I wish there was a Menards in New York City, downstate New York, Long Island, or Northern New Jersey. Model train stores are going out of business left and right near me :-(
Same here on that front, the great days of the hobby store is falling fast. Menards us expanding rapidly. You may just get one.. appreciate you watching
🤣🤣🤣 funny you say that.. I wish they would. I sent them an Email, asking, they said they have no interest in Making N scale products.. appreciate you watching
I really hope menards eventually start selling HO locomotives and cars, their O scale line is incredibly affordable and their ho buildings, The fact that menards can produce stuff so cheaply and have so much to offer is Incredible, Especially compared to Lionel
Nice tour Pappy! I'm surprised you didn't recognize that I had Gamer & Thones and Piggly Wiggly on my layout. I also have Morton Salt, County Suites Hotel, a distribution flat and I have a station they no longer offer. It took them forever to do HO scale, maybe one day they will go N scale. - Jason
Thanks Jason, I did see a few of thise names on your layout but did not put 2 and 2 together, the gamer and thrones did strike me as I had felt I seen it before but didn't place it on any ones layout. I think it's funny. Other stores have HO cars but this one did not for some reason.. glad you like the tour. They are good looking structures really wish they'd do a few N Scale..
I know I seen HO cars before. But I just checked their website and did not find any. So maybe I never seen them at all, gonna have to investigate this further. 🤔
Hey Dave. I should have went to the other ones we have. This one didn't display as much HO as before. But it was all still cool to see. Glad you enjoyed it. I think it's all available on line year round but only in the stores around the holidays. Thanks for watching hope your weekend is good
Who wants to buy them already put together part of the fun is building them I used to dedicate one day a week putting model buildings together and kit bashing it was the thing to do on a Friday night when it's snowing like hell outside
Your a true modeler mark, yes that is the fun, but you got a lot of people who just want to throw up a tree train or Christmas village and pack it away till next year.... but yes I like the build too. Appreciate you watching...
Glad I could show you more, it's an everything store, if you ever get the chance to stop in one, you should. Just make sure you have an hour to spare, thank you for watching..
They have some furniture (usually above the electrical department on the mezzanine). But they're primarily a building supply store run amok! You can buy groceries (but no produce), dog toys, kitchens, etc. and an incredible selection of ticky-tacky junk! BTW, white tags are regular price, red tags are discontinued items and any other tag color is a sale of some sort...
Sure wish Menards were in Texas. We have maybe 5 model railroad stores in the entire state I’d say 20 closed in the last decade. I miss when hobby lobby would have 3-4 rows of it back in the day…
The model stores are getting slim, everything on line nowadays, dint like when you can't see it touch it befor you buy, and yes Hobby lobby use to have a good selection, but very little these days.. thanks for watching.
@@TriGogglin same with hobbytowns they had a nice selection in San Antonio then the next year half the selection was gone the very next year shut down for good. Super sad
We had a TT scale at home (1:120) and were always buying from Berliner-TT Bahnen model train company. This was in the 80's and the 90's and as a kid have great memories of building the whole table top with my brothers and my father. What I liked about that company back then was that all the building came in a little blue orange box disassembled and you had to build it all yourself, put all the signage on etc. I see nowadays they just selling whole buildings and that's not as much fun :)
TT, I bet that was fun. You can still get a lot of kits at hobby stores you still build. I think stores like menards sell pre built structures are kinda cool for like the Christmas tree displays and Christmas villages that you would take back down till next year. But some of these would look cool on regular lay outs.but I definitely know what you mean about not being as fun. Appreciate you watching
Good morning Pappy, i don't believe we have a Menards out in Southern California but pretty cool to see a selection of model trains in their stores . Liked the tour and Thank you for taking us 👍😎 Darrell
Thanks Darrell, yeah I believe only the mid west areas so far but they are spreading. Glad you enjoyed the tour. Figured I'd give the modelers an option for their layouts.. hope your weekend is great
No they are not out here in the L.A area, ther'ye pretty much a mid western chain based out of Eau Claire Wisconsin. Used to shop there all the time when i lived in Chicago. Like their stores waaay beter than HD or Lowe's. They need to offer more in HO scale, especially rolling stock and locomotives
Oh yeah, that would be a good option for them to have.. wonder if they review comments when they see videos posted about them. HEY MENARDS,, we need road bed.. appreciate you watching
Haven't bought any Menards stuff yet, but from what I've seen and read it is good stuff and reasonably priced, probably much better than lionel. I have purchased some new lionel and will stay clear of it from now on as I don't find the quality what it use to be when it was made in America.
It should be available in all Menards stores, and if not you can find it on there web sight. Glad I could give you hope, appreciate you watching and glad you enjoyed it

Do you know if these Model Trains & Tracks that are Pictured here are Replacements for the Old Tyco Trains, I have Locomotives & Rail Cars & Tracks from the Old Tyco System & I want to use them in the Future?
Hello Wayne, the tracks in this video are O scale like the old Lionel bigger trains. Tyco was HO scale, you can get that at any hobby store, HO is very easy to find. And some hobby lobby stores carry the HO Bachman track. Hope that helps.. thanks for watching
Not at this store location, but maybe on line, but I think in the HO department it's mostly vehicles and buildings. And maybe Bachman train sets. The buildings are really cool though
@@TriGogglin Yea right now I model in N as well, but I also have HO and O scale to that I collect haha. Menards if they did N man would look nice and be wayyyy cheaper than the majority that is out there for N. Like Spending $50 for one Rapido car that is so small is just insane! hahah
I prefer diecast cars I built the layout outside with from 027 track and when the Darksider scheme engine Towing diecast Hopper cars would go through a Crossing it would make a good t h u m p i n g noise as the train crossed over. Real Steel just feels better than plastic.
Yeah, like the good ol days, when i was a kid you could go into the local hardware stores and see some good ol tyco or Bachman. So glad you enjoyed the video.
Greetings from the UK. Is the wall flat at 1.09 what over here we call low relief, a building with no depth? The prices look OK considering our currency has lost so much value against the US dollar recently compared to what we pay over here for similar items. Prices in the hobby have in many cases have tripled in the last few years.
Hello Ken, yes the wall flat is just the front of a building. No walls. Great for those background scenes when you have no space between the tracks and wall. Yeah price of things is hurting the wallet for sure... appreciate you watching
How can get a copy of the book on trains, I wish Menards in Avon Indiana would stock more trains they always run out, never restock, always told more coming never see more??
Should be able to order their catalog on the web sight. And if you go to your local menards, they have an upstairs seasonal where they keep the stuff still for sale when it's not in season.. hope that helps.. if you can't get the book, you may have to wait till the new one comes out around November I think..
Hey there, this store is Reynoldsburg Ohio, they are there most of the year but not all year. And should be in every menards. Of not they do sell them on line.. appreciate you stopping by and watching.
During the summer some stores take out that section for the summer pool stuff or outdoor stuff, take a look up stairs. Sometimes it will be up there, but should be back on the shelves closer to Christmas
The last catalog I seen was for 2023, and the only HO stuff I've seen from menards is buildings. If you go on line and put in menards train catalog, a link usually pops up for their online purchases. I hope that helps a bit.. appreciate you watching

Please, I am considering starting a new model railroad. I have sufficient space - but I was wondering (therefore my question to you) how would you compare prices between H0 and 2 rail O scale track/equipment and so forth. Is 2 rail O scale DOUBLE the price of Ho or perhaps even more costly or .. Thank you.
Hello Johnathan, ooh you are definitely going to have to research this. O scale is considerably higher in price, you can get used good equipment from eBay and places like that. Some O scale detail accessories are hard to find. And O takes up a considerable amount of space. I would find a good hobby store that carries both O and HO and look at the details of each, see what scale perks your interest. The most popular scale is HO and can pretty much find everything thing could want for a model. I don't want to sway your decision. HO you can fit alot of track and details in a good size space. Watch a few videos of people who model those 2 scales and see what you might prefer and reach out to them in their comments on the pros and cons of their scales. I run N scale. You can fit a lot I'm a small space. The engines are close in price to the HO but the major con is availability of products and the small sizes makes it difficult to work with.. you can find a lot of joy in both O and HO.. O is big and beefy and the size alone makes you happy lol but the HO scale is highly detailed and looks really good, and that makes you happy to look at them.. I know I wasn't much help but . Yes O scale is of higher prices and takes a lot of space... appreciate you watching... good luck. Stop back and let me know what you Decide to do...

or Home Depot we have quite a few in the chicago area and they always have the best price and with that 11% off they definitly do.

Hello Mike, I've seen a few HO sets on line but havnt seen individual HO rolling stock. But the buildings are really cool..
In the old days you would have the fun of taking it out of the box putting it together putting the details on it painting it etc etc now all you do is take it out of the box. But I have to admit the end product is better when they do it then when I do it.
Yes putting it together is half the fun, totally agree, but yeah I've messed up a few trying to paint them. 🤣🤣🤣

Yeah its nice when you get another company to give you options. Appreciate you watching.
Pappy, you should leave the dark side and start building in HO. LOL

Cool thanks you for this info. I'm not familiar with O scale track. This menards was located in Reynoldsburg Ohio..
Lol
@@mikebrzostowski8183 thats awesome you still have your first train, my dad sold my trains and hot wheels one day in a yard sale while I was at school.. not sure i ever forgave him for that 🤣🤣 i joke with him about it now though. I do enjoy the hobby, wish i had more time in the week to run trains, I'm 54 so I'm getting closer to retirement..
wow what a stop! but yeah, when I decided to get into modelling early this year I started out with choosing N but soon realized that the one weekend shop here (Dave's Trains & Things! @ the P&J flea market) is like 98% HO & up stuff so I'm doing both now for the joyvenience.

Morning Anthony. It's a cool store with lots to see. But the trains was all that mattered today..
Wow! That stuff is expensive! Nice items though.
Some of the prices weren't bad compared to some other train models out there. They do look nice. Thanks for stopping by..
With so many people living in condos and small apartments nowadays you would think that N scale railroading would be taking off?
Oh thats my thinking, you figure menards would want that market too. Appreciate you watching
I had no idea that Menards had train stuff.
Never been into one.
I thought it was a furniture chain and I don't need any more furniture.
Nice Tour Pappy.
Thanks Matt, usually they have more HO stuff but each store loads up differently. Thanks for watching, stay warm.
Super sad
Our hobby town is a little bit of trains, and the rest of the store is models and RC cars.. I don't even bother going to it much any more.
