Hey Steve! Goodness I love your game 🔥 I really enjoy just making videos and if it’s on here that means I liked it! I put a lot of work into the broll and such too so I’m so happy that you gave this a watch 🌙 appreciate you!
Great looking game and great video! I watch dozens of board game videos each week and somehow never came across this game. Sharing board games is one of the best parts of the hobby so it's great to see that you're adding to that benefit!
This game looks pretty good I'm a sucker for the setting aswell. I just don't ever have 4 or 5 people in a group that play games like these. It's always 2 or 3 people in my house. Oh well.
Sad day :( I would love to see if we could automate a 4th player so that it can be played at 3. Unsure how good it would be - but I want to tinker with the idea!
Great video ! The parallel is obvious with Root in regards with the asymmetry of the actions and the way each faction is behaving. But in Root, the said factions are more self sufficient, not intertwined and dependant of each others like they seems here. I think your connection to the original Dune is very relevant, even though it is very difficult in it to achieve balance of power. Maybe this will be an easier entry into the system. How about some sort of asymetric King is dead ? Side note : there is literaly not a single boardgame box that is composing the background that I would not want in my collection...
Yeah Crescent Moon is like the end game of Root but the entire game. There isn’t a build up. There is just everything intermingling all at once :) it’s kinda wild. I do like what it’s trying to do and I think it’s a clean Dune and Root Esq game with its own voice
I understand your point on how it being a dedicated 4-5 player game is a benefit. As much a I adore Vast The Crystal Caverns, playing with less then 4 always feels like an unnecessary option. The balances and checks of the 4-5 player characters are needed. Still not sure I'll pick this one up, as I own both Root and Vast the Crystal Caverns, which I don't get to the table enough as it is.
Your b roll and breakdown of all the characters easily sold me on this game bro. I’m ready to play as the warlord 🔥 so good 🤝🏽 side note: I love how you tie in comparisons and differences between each character - that storytelling is tight!
Fantastic video, Sam! Super well laid out walk-through, and incredible photos and videos of the components. For me, I absolutely fall into the category of people who would primarily balk at the game purely because of the player count (so I really appreciate them keeping the game at those accounts to ensure the experience is the absolute best (even if that means this might not be the right fit for me… At least right now)). My question for you Sam, and knowing me you might already have an idea of it, what do you think the chance is of one or two of these factions being automa potential? This definitely wouldn’t be one that I would hope for a solo mode, ha ha, but now that you’ve played a number of times, does one of the factions seem like it could potentially be run by a deck of cards or some other system? I know that would remove the aspect of haggling with that faction while also welcoming in quite a bit of randomness (neither of which seem like super great things to add into the game), but some sort of system like that that could expand the player account a little lower I think would be incredible (much in the same way as the clockwork prince in Oath or how I regularly use the ROOTbots to fill up the table). Great video!!
Hey KYLE :) appreciate you brother! And to answer your question! YES. I think the Sultan and Nomad could easily be AI players... The sultan is one I am programing rn to test a 3 player game (Murshid, Caliph and Warlord - Sultan AI). I feel you would lose on some aspects but i could truly see a programmed version of the Sultan Working. Buildings buildings in hexes with the least presence - then checking for ones with only influence - then checking for ones with least control and so on. I got rambly. But im working up something!
@@LordoftheBoard Did you ever try this out? This game is super interesting to me, it seemed to have some hype, but then died off almost immediately. How did the AI turn out, do you still think highly of this game?
You can still purchase Mercs - its a separate action for 4 player only! Also I should note. Sultan can still build strongholds same as Murshid. these can still defend territory they have from the Warlord. though often its easier to strike some sort of deal with the Caliph.
This is one of our favourite videos we've seen in a long time! Incredible job
Thank you Osprey 🔥🥹
Thanks, Sam, what a great review style you have - relaxed, articulate and on point.

@@stevemathers3432 haha I’m sure you found the answer! But all the fancy filming of components :)
Superb video! One of the most beautiful cinematography shots I’ve ever seen is in here. Unreal. Great work Sam
Thank you so much 🔥💕
Great video, very well produced, wonderful info and delivery, doesn't go on too long. Thanks! Game looks beautiful and elegant
Thank you for all the kind words. Glad you enjoyed it :)

Super clean production compared to channel size! Thumbs up.
Looks fascinating! Thanks for highlighting this one!
Glad you enjoyed it friend :)
The quality of the video and your presentation is.... Professional. Glad I sub'd
Thank you so much :) and I appreciate the sub!
And that box cover is magnifique! *Chef's kiss*
Right?! Navid Rahman KILLED IT with the artwork in this game!

Awesome coverage! Cheers.
Thank you so much :)
Really interested in this one, though the limited player count options (best at 5) make me doubtful as to whether I'll get it to the table often.
Yea it really restricts many from copping. I totally get it. I highly recommend trying it though :)

That makes a lot of sense. I would recommend trying it if you can at some point :)
Definitely interested in giving this a try!

@@LordoftheBoard well THIS is exciting! If I wind up picking this game up, I would happily run tests on anything you've got going on, too!
@@GIVEPAUSEhobby You got it!

@@coolbr33z3y I still think highly of this game! Ai didn’t turn out as well as I hoped. I think the game is just best with 4 people willing to play
How can you effectively counter the warlord faction in a 4p game without the Nomad soldiers-for-hire?
You can still purchase Mercs - its a separate action for 4 player only! Also I should note. Sultan can still build strongholds same as Murshid. these can still defend territory they have from the Warlord. though often its easier to strike some sort of deal with the Caliph.
8:54 I love how you call the hex a 'clearing' as if this is actually Root
That’s my life. Every game is Root in some way to me 😂
Looks cool! Any plans for a playthrough?
Now that I have a setup! YES :) just gotta gather up some friends !
Eyooo!!!!
Can you play this game two player? Because that’s primarily how I play board games
Unfortunately you can not! It is strictly 4 or 5 players
But where are the cute animal people?
Haha look it can’t have EVERYTHING root does 😂 I am really happy they went with wooden components and not plastic minis though I will say!
Aymmetric
Fixed thank you! :)
I'll stick with Root
Def! I am keeping both though :) this like I said in the video is quite different than Root! But it has a lot of the same feeling
