Worst part about the Metal scene is the elitist fanbois who take shit waay to serious and is a big factor in why I stopped calling myself a metalhead. While I did go through a period of about a decade of only listening to metal, my thinking changed and my tastes developed. I no longer feel ashamed to say I like bands like Baby metal because I honestly no longer care what metalheads think and haven't done so in over a decade lol
The guys who made duet with Dio, Tenacious D, covered Baby One More Time, so at this point Metalheads are SUPPOSED to enjoy bubblegum pop as well... Babymetal dueted with Rob Halford so they're totally Metal of course.
i dont particularly have a problem with bands that are commericaly succsefull, my problem with babymetal is that they are a corporate creation from the ground up. That just doesnt feel right for me.
@@islaymassive1530 I mean pretty much all successful metal acts are corporate to some degree. They have productions teams and companies (or labels) that manage them. How and when the band was created becomes less important when music is about the end product, less about the process. I honestly don't really care whether the band was formed in one of the member's mom's basement 15 years ago or whether it was the brainchild of music producer if the music good, that's all that matters.
Some people might not like hearing that, but in my opinion that makes you more of a metalhead than most of these "elitists". Because what does a metalhead care what other people think about their music? For me, it is precisely these "elitists" who have already lost the basic ideals of metal and these are the people who are not really metalheads.
Dude BabyMetal is freaking badass! They started me down my musical journey to discovering MANY Japanese bands that are all incredibly talented and innovative. Anyone who hasn't given them a chance, or the Japanese metal scene in general, do yourself a favor and check them out! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
it depends how you see it, they can either be a cutsy trio singing over metal guitar riffs, or a band whose sound is comprised of guteral vocals and nasty strings with drums pounded along with ancient ancestors, bashing lows while highs are sung melodically in the midsts of the chaos
I came here from their uzi collab, never heard them before, as a metal & rap fan, THOSE ARE GENUINELY SOME OF THE HEAVIEST RIFFS I'VE EVER HEARD, METAL CONFIRMED
It's because elitists think they own metal, they are like religeous fanatics. They are conformists who cannot tolerate anything that doesn't conform to the expected norm. Trying to control what is metal gives them a sense of power and relevancy that they don't actually have. You know you are an important band if you ruffle the feathers of elitists.
@@Corum-rl9ro Your comment is kind of cringe bro. Some people are just really geeky when it comes to genres and labeling bands, not everyone, hell I'd say only a vocal minority, of the people you described are "elitists". There are people who claim Alter Bridge or Alice in Chains are metal, I disagree, doesn't make me elitest.
@@FrogWalrus Maybe my wording was a bit too strong and blunt, but i stand by what i said. Opinion is one thing, but someone beliving they have the power to decide what is 'pure' or 'real' and not having the intelligence to know opinion is not fact actually is elitism and does resemble forms of religeous control. Just as gatekeeping is useless because it happens AFTER something has already got past the gates, elitism is useless because a band, group or acts genre is primarily defined by what market and scene they thrive in and Babymetal rose to power in the metal scene, they chart in metal charts, they appear in metal magazines, they play metal festivals. They may not be a typical band but they are metal. Labels like Pop-metal, Kawaii-metal do not matter. If any acts music is primarily metal then they are metal by default. All of the reasoning i hear why Babymetal are not metal is either based on ignorance or confusion about what metal 'should' be, or based on misconceptions, jealousy or bitterness rather than facts, and usually has nothing to do with their music. 'they don't play the instruments' 'their not organic' 'Su doesn't growl' etc., but non of that excludes them from being metal. All they are saying is Babymetal are different and should be cast out because of it. F**k that, that's not what the spirit of metal was supposed to be about, and that is why Babymetal have been embraced by their peers.
I love different aesthetics in metal and rock. Babymetal has cutesy vocals, cute style of clothing along with cute dance moves but still is very metal. Malice Mizer has a catchy yet unique kind of sound, they wear makeup and have long hair, their outfits are described has classic gothic opera type clothing but still have rock in their music Both are j-music groups their great.
I went to the live tour in Milano (Italy) this year and it was AMAZING. They have so much energy and it was so fun, the coreography was awesome, the music was so good and everyone was having a blast!
something that always impresses me about j-metal is that the vocals go from a "cute" voice to a scream that gives you shiver, a band that does this very well is "hanabi.", it's incredible how metal a song in anime op style can be (Idk if shiver is the correct expression)
Honestly the debate about Babymetal just comes down to the fact that they're young Japanese women and they don't sound like the voices we usually hear in metal
I mean... yeah, not necessarily the japanese woman part, but kawaii vocals just freak me out, i don't find it cute at all because it's essentially baby talk in another language or at least that's how i understand it There's also the fact that they are essentially part of a "production line" for their talent agency, probably one of the main reasons for their music leaving a bad taste in my mouth ( i only heard them live at a sabaton concert, so maybe i don't know enough)
@@thefruitman3200 when it comes to Japanese music and groups, I sort of figured that this was the total norm. The whole, founded by an agency thing. But I mean, if they actually have good voices, stage performance, is it not okay? I feel like a lot more talent would be exposed this way if it were more acceptable in other countries.
@@sarahhenry3607 Honestly, almost anyone can be a good singer given time. It's mostly a matter of practice. The problem they might have with it is in japan the agency scene is based on finding someone with the right look and pruning them into a singer and dancer who follows whatever song and dance the agency hands them, usually around a very specific theme. Talent is really not the name of the game, looking a specific way to fit into a mold is. Anyone trying to go their own way is often crushed under agencies who don't want any competition. It's a very EA way of doing things.
@@FastForwardPlans I totally get what you're saying, and while I do agree with some parts of it.. regardless of how we put this, vocals are the one thing that everyone tends to focus on first, and yes while anyone with enough practice has the ability to be a decent singer, its still something that takes these people insane hours of dedication to be able to accomplish. And to be better than decent? phew... Not to mention all the dances that they need to learn in the process for each different song! So I think what im saying is... Yeah they may have been hired and brought into this scene cause they are cute. But they also are putting their entire energy into it. Ya have to admit, the gals aint half-assing anything. And ya know, i think thats pretty fuckin metal lol
@@sarahhenry3607 I'm not saying they are bad, surely they worked hard, harder than most, the agency scene is pretty dang stressful where a lot of demands are placed on the people who get into it, with many singers being tossed to the wayside pretty hard if they don't go fast enough. Babymetal probably work very hard every day to get that sound. But the thing behind them, the agencies are what is offputting. Organizations that craft people into something and create these roles out of them.

As someone who loves the over the top bloody theatrics of metal shows and videos, I absolutely love to see this idol Japanese idol dancing to metal. I really like the all girl, Japanese metal band Hanabie 🤘
The thing about Babymetal is that they're a band that would also fit into the Japanese idol scene. Everyone is rigorously casted and has their specific role in the show and trains for that exact task. In that sense the concert experience is more similar to an orchestra than a band that had their origins in some garage. With the difference that you get metal with J-Pop influences instead of classical music. Because of their J-Pop influences and the orchestrated experience it's quite different than other metal concerts but depending on preference it can be very enjoyable because it's all very well done and the musicians they travel with are amazing, some of the cleanest sound you'll get to hear on festivals.

@@TheSkrunkyScrimbloI love both of those songs 🔥
Babymetal Death is their best song. It's also one of the best metal songs ever written... I said what I said, I don't care
you all should definitely listen to Sis. Anger, it’s real good.
If BabyMetal isn’t real metal someone forgot to tell the drummer and guitarists. Because they’re taking it real seriously.
Those cute singers also take the music and the band very seriously. They are totally committed to it. It's not only metal, it's great metal.
I recently went to one of their concerts and not only was it awesome, I saw a bunch of oldschool metalhead looking people there. Made my day.
I've been a metalhead since I was 12, and BabyMetal is amazing.
Baby Metal looks the way metal heads feel after listening/dancing to their favorite song
truth! lol
That is such a true statement!
They're adorable and they're metal....They're the gift we did not realise we needed!
You make it sound like that is something new or unique...
A lot of Heavy Metal performer are hella cute~
@@Robin93k Yeah, but are they "kawaii" tho? I dont think so.
@@Robin93kcute??? Lmfao HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHA yeah i agree
I was able to see them live last year. Such a good show
I fucking love their song Starlight
Sounds like metal to me, yeah.
Hell yeah it is .
The whole group is overflowing with talent.
Been a fan since gimme chocolate
I wasn't really a big fan of them until I saw them live. They kicked ass! Metal AF!
Glad you like em too bro 🦊🤘🏽🔥
Live is the only way to fully experience Babymetal. Video just doesn't do them justice.
@@Icipher353 I'm seeing them live in May next year. But I'm already convinced they are metal.
babymetal started playing on the radio and my grandma was so flabbergasted because korn was playing before it
I got tickets for their show in may in Hamburg for christmas today. I'm so excited
Saw them live November last year in 2023. I was supposed to see them all the way back in 2020 but didnt get the oportunity too, and then the obvious happened.
Was SUCH a cool experience! They knew how to control the crowd! The entire band are so damn talanted and its one of the best concerts I've ever gone to!
If anyone gets a chance, I'd HIGHLY recommend seeing them live.
It’s giving the duality of Isabella from animal crossing and doom guy 😭😭
I went to the Babymetal/Deathklok show in Dallas last year, it was one of the best metal shows I've ever been to. Babymetal absolutely killed it.
I heard them live at Louder than Life 2023. As we (dad and I) walked past her stage, she let out this demon growl almost out of nowhere that cut us both off guard and I love to listen to some their songs (even though I can’t understand it)
That would be their new vocalist, MomoMetal. She's also a kabuki performer.
Everyone seems to forget a fundamental aspect of metal...
I don't give AF what other aholes think.
🤘💥🎸🥁 🎸💥🤘
Facts brother!!!!
What's more metal than breaking the norm? Nothing! That's what it's all about!
Yeah.....right....🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟
My favourite band for over 7 years now, saw them live and it was such a wounderful concert
one hundred fucking percent
💯
They got the spirit of metal music, the pure artistry, and the sound of metal music (multiple genres at that too)
It’s the “spirit of metal” that I think many critics miss the mark on when it comes to Babymetal. The saying “that is so metal” exists for a reason.
My brother and I have tickets to see them in November. I've been to concerts like Slipknot and Rammstein, and I'm stoked for this one. I've only recently been turned on to them, but they can go pretty hard.
Cant wait
Today is the day
Babymetal live in Vienna
Ah, a person of culture I see 🧐💕
Music is always changing. Evolving and de-evolving constantly.
the japanese metal scene is nuts in general honestly
I had no standing in this debate before this video, i had no idea what baby metal was. This simultaneously is the most adorable, most hilarious thing ive ever seen. 10/10 is metal.
enjoy your dive into the foxhole, my friend. It's comfy down here.
Got to see them live in 2016, they were amazing then and are amazing now!
Saw Babymetal live and they fucking rocked 🤘
THANK YOU FOR INTRODUCING ME TO THIS BAND
Hey, if Baby Metal can get Rob Halford involved…that’s all the confirmation I freaking need!
they really did, in fact have performed together.
They also performed King Slayer with Over The Orizon and it came out an absolute banger
@@TrikoArtistUwU I think you meant Bring Me The Horizon,
But a banger indeed.
Just bear in mind, Lady Gaga also got Rob Halford involved 🤔
Fun fact they had no idea who he was xD
I saw them in Hannover last year with Lordi and Sabaton.
Honestly im not a metalhead or anything but they went hard af.
i play them all the time for the bar i DJ at and the metal heads ADORE them
Saw them live supporting sabaton and they were fucking incredible, absolutely rocked it
Worst part about the Metal scene is the elitist fanbois who take shit waay to serious and is a big factor in why I stopped calling myself a metalhead. Some people were making it their personality and they love talking shit about bands that they think are too commercial.
Catch me if you can is their best song and choreography in my opinion! The music and Catch me run is too aesthetically pleasing!💙
Dude BabyMetal is freaking badass! They started me down my musical journey to discovering MANY Japanese bands that are all incredibly talented and innovative. Anyone who hasn't given them a chance, or the Japanese metal scene in general, do yourself a favor and check them out! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
if you haven't already, you need to listen to Sokoninaru. mindblowing.
Same! Randomly came across Gimme Chocolate and was hooked immediately. Hanabie is a big one in my playlists now as well, she's got some great screams!
Baby metal is the caffeine of modern metal. It’s the energy I need to make it through the day.
it depends how you see it, they can either be a cutsy trio singing over metal guitar riffs, or a band whose sound is comprised of guteral vocals and nasty strings with drums pounded along with ancient ancestors, bashing lows while highs are sung melodically in the midsts of the chaos
I love these alt metal band videos! My favorite subgenre is symphonic/opera metal (Kamelot!)
Followed them since start (I like jpop) and been so happy to see so many enjoy them too ❤
Babymetal is quickly becoming one of my favorite bands of all time. This shit’s just so cool.
Bro that guitar went so hard.
BABYMETAL goes hard!! They go in!!
I came here from their uzi collab, never heard them before, as a metal & rap fan, THOSE ARE GENUINELY SOME OF THE HEAVIEST RIFFS I'VE EVER HEARD, METAL CONFIRMED
Don't know why people wouldn't call this metal. The music is metal, the look is badass
Malice Mizer has a catchy yet unique kind of sound, they wear makeup and have long hair, their outfits are described has classic gothic opera type clothing but still have rock in their music
Both are j-music groups their great.
baby metal is metal, but started out as an idol group not a band, now they are metal idol group with a band accompanying them to perform
BABYMETAL? What a complete crock of.......
....fun!
I absolutely adore this band!
I didnt think it was ever a question lol
First time I found them, I was like wtf. Then Holy shit. They're great, and the band is fucking brutal. So good. Unique. And just all around good fun.
well said. I was reluctant at first but damn is their music addictive. And those instrumentalists are just so incredibly good!
I went to the live tour in Milano (Italy) this year and it was AMAZING. They have so much energy and it was so fun, the coreography was awesome, the music was so good and everyone was having a blast!
something that always impresses me about j-metal is that the vocals go from a "cute" voice to a scream that gives you shiver, a band that does this very well is "hanabi.", it's incredible how metal a song in anime op style can be
(Idk if shiver is the correct expression)
I saw babymetal and another band called deadlift lolita a few years ago and they were rad as hell really enjoyed them both
Honestly the debate about Babymetal just comes down to the fact that they're young Japanese women and they don't sound like the voices we usually hear in metal
I mean... yeah,
not necessarily the japanese woman part, but kawaii vocals just freak me out, i don't find it cute at all because it's essentially baby talk in another language or at least that's how i understand it
There's also the fact that they are essentially part of a "production line" for their talent agency, probably one of the main reasons for their music leaving a bad taste in my mouth ( i only heard them live at a sabaton concert, so maybe i don't know enough)
I'm a huge Babymetal fan, and got to see them in concert. Genuinely insane, there was a mosh pit two feet from me, and I was deaf for like, 20 minutes afterward. Highly recommend love them 10/10
i love baby metal- my first concert i ever went to was to see them and it was November- it allowed me to bind with my dad! Love it!
I couldn't agree more man.
I think my favorite thing hearing about baby metal was when they met rob zombie and someone told rob that they lost respect for him because he had them open for him at a concert and rob zombie said "those women out there performing known as baby metal is more metal than you will ever be." Which just made me so happy and i gained more respect not only for baby metal but rob zombie as well.
Great performers, love the music, i usually wait to see how a performer is either personally or in their daily life if they make it public to see how i really like them. If they are jerks and just down right assholes, i don't listen to them.
Saw them live at a festival and the music is wicked. The vocals are kpop and it’s not my thing but shoutout to the band.
Opal In Sky approved that’s good 😌🫶🏻
people that think metal is just growls on heavy battery slamming and string breaking guitars, are tourists or old farts that cant get with the times in my book.
They have never heard Iron Maiden then, with their clean vocals, clean guitar riffs and melodic music
One of the most metal things BABYMETAL ever did was having a line in their song "Future Metal" which says "are you still playing the guitar? This ain't heavy metal. Welcome to the world of BABYMETAL"
Looking forward for the day they will perform it live
No. Its not us old guys. We love BabyMetal. It's millennials who never saw Led Zeppelin or Iron Maiden in concert and think you need to do nothing but growls to be metal. Screw those young gatekeepers. Metal is about breaking the rules not making them up in your own head then trying to enforce them onto others.
@blitzofchaosgaming6737 It's bot millennial, there's no age group here it's anyone who thinks they get to tell other peoppe how art works. Thats not an age group, it's a mindset. I've met plenty of Gen Xers with the absolute shittiest heavy metal opinions and I've met young people with the same fucking issues about their music.
It's not an age thing, it's an elitism thing, this 40 year old millennial has seen the whole spectrum in every age group.
I introduced my godsister to BabyMetal in July 2024. she has been listening to them everyday since. "HeadBanger" is her favorite!!! She's also 6 years old!!
Their collab with bring me the horizon to make kingslayer was the most metal thing they made together
I never seen someone just shred the electric guitar so casually lol
Think about it,a band tucked away at the back,3 syncopated vocalists (sic) prowling the stage etc etc,it`s more like musical theatre.
LOL, best answer to this debate. Love it.
Yeah, the doll metal genre is sick
Metal is for everyone, there are a lot of different flavours to choose from.
They even scream sometimes, they're great
I saw Baby Metal live. They were awesome.
Baby Metal fan here!!!!!! 😊❤🎉
I love babymetal so much
absolute icons
I cant remember all the details but i remember this super famous heavy metal star said on twitter that they love thier take on metal and some random dude said that they didn't know anything about metal and that got a good laugh out of me
that was probably Rob Zombie.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Babymetal 🔥🔥
I’ve been listening to BABYMETAL since I was 12, absolutely adore all their songs and all their effort they put into their performances 🫶❤
BABY METAL IS LOVE.😊
As someone who loves the over the top bloody theatrics of metal shows and videos, I absolutely love to see this idol Japanese idol dancing to metal. I really like the all girl, Japanese metal band Hanabie 🤘
You should watch "BABYMETAL DEATH" from the "Legend 1997 Apocalypse" concert then! 😉
I love Babymetal, and I'm not ashamed to admit it. ☠️
I'm not ashamed, too
The production and sound quality on the first Babymetal album is top notch!
That small music sample you gave also gave me goosebumps
Metalheads are so fragile and insecure, and babymetal does a beautiful job of exposing it.
If you don't like McDonald's you're just fragile and insecure about food bro.
@@CloakingDonkey your analogy doesn't work. You can dislike something but still acknowledge its identity.
The analogy would be if they were saying McDonalds wasn't food at all. Which it is, it's just food that isn't very good for you.
@@Sassaparilla Babymetal sure is music but much like Mickey D's isn't fine dining... ;^) Is it really an analogy anyway, if I'm just making fun of an ad hominem clown comment?
@@CloakingDonkey yes? Joke or not, you made an analogy. You compared the relationship of Baby Metal with Metal to the relationship between McDs and Food, even if a flawed comparison, still an analogy nonetheless.
Making fun of something doesn't change it. It just makes you look like as much of a jackass as OP, especially when you do it by making fun of someone who is entirely innocent to the situation.
@@Sassaparilla wait is the innocent party I made fun of McDonalds?
