Almost like what often happens with consumable items in games, "too useful therefore never used", Amaterasu gets it's cousin treatment of "Too potent when effective therefore never allowed to actually be effective". Narratively it's incredibly strong, but that means it either cannot be used frequently or everyone needs to be able to deal with it to justify why whomever has Amaterasu cannot simply incinerate their way to their goal. The way both of Itachi's MS jutsu are presented on introduction make you think they're the type of jutsu that could effectively negate power disparities, a hyper-potent attack that would allow the user to damage or outright defeat foes that otherwise scale much higher than them. This is part of why people rate Itachi so highly in vs battles with arguments like "He just needs to catch them with Tsukuyomi!". But then in practise they don't work out that way. Sasuke has to have his moment breaking out of Tsukuyomi to show his growth from part 1, so now there's ambiguity on where exactly it's limits lie, if Sasuke overpowered it or Itachi let him break out etc. Sasuke gets Amaterasu himself and is even more adept at using it than Itachi, but as a result it simply cannot be as powerful a jutsu as it was initially presented. It's like a triangle where you have to land somewhere in it's area; The corners are Potency, Presence, and Tension. If it's going to have a lot of presence and without sacrificing tension, the potency will necessarily be dialled back.
In my opinion, Amaterasu doesn't actually do damage directly through heat. I think it's a fire-shaped chakra mass that consumes anything it touches. When focused on, like when Itachi used it to break out of the rock toad, it can eat through things way faster, otherwise it takes a bit to eat through. So it just burns away anything it touches until it's extinguished or runs out of things to "burn". This is why it can do wierd things like burn away fire (when itachi uses it to overpower sasuke's fire). It's not actually "burning" it, it's consuming it.

Fire is seemingly pretty hard to utilize in anime in general, because if it works the way we know it should, fire attacks would literally cook everyone without a resistance to it to death, instead of the generic explosions we always get. Couple that with it burning forever and it's an unstoppable instant kill. You can't give Sasuke an unstoppable instant kill move because he has to be fightable, so you make things to counter it. It renders it as useless as Vegeta's ki blast barrages in DBZ. Underwhelming.
@@gameuniverse5973 Fire Force is anime about fire, it fucking better accomplish something, and Natsu's whole thing is fire. Exceptions to a general trend don't disprove the theory
Downside of one-shot abilities is you can never use them to any useful degree because the reader will generally see it as unsatisfying and audiences want to see a full fight. Even OPM has to get tossed around a ton before the author lets him just flick away the enemy

Obito should have taken Kakashi's eye in before Chuunin exam arc, before he even knew he had a MS. Then all his battle would have ended easily. Naruto should have If routes like Re: zero.
Amaterasu itself is not that strong But flame control is broken ,I would say is kamui level , because Kaguya didn't want to get hit by flame control ,even if she've absorbed it before It kinda negs the 98%of the verse because it can be solid like a rock ,and it cuts through everything because it burns through everything So like Kishimoto made amaterasu strong with the right eye of Sasuke ,kagatsuchi is actually that string
I mean when you have anything that's a one shot kill, there needs to be a huge sacrifice to justify the character deciding to use it. The move just became a replacement for regular fire rather than being a legendary attack.
The answer to this is one rooted in storytelling laws Stories don't like immediate long lasting consequences this is why swords ⚔️ , bullets and acid can't actually do anything Blunt/impact type hits are better hence why kicks and fist fights work or even pierce type attacks (chidori)
It's why instant kill techniques or near instant kill techniques can be difficult to write or deal with especially if your protagonist is put up against it or has one. Since it's hard to work around that ability for tension purposes. I'm not saying it's impossible because it has been done
You wanna know what's funny? in the harry potter world, there's a spell called "protego diabolica" and it happens to take the form of black flames (according to the books), as it is shown to completely incinerate anyone caught in the flames in mere seconds
It's fire in general in Naruto. And that's because they shoot an enormous volume of it, so if it was actually strong, it would obliterate everything, I think that's the biggest problem. If it was compact like a rasengan or a chidori, then it would be better and could be allowed to do damage, but fire ball that is 3 people tall and wide, if it actually was damaging it'd scorch someone alive, same with amaterasu.
after Itachi seals Orochimaru there’s a final small white snake that almost escapes only to get killed my Amaterasu. So it does have one kill I guess lol
The funny thing is that it is not like it MATTERS if Madara was burning to the bone. Hashirama cells are so bullshit the guy replaced a game cartridge.
Some of my fav stuff in naruto is jiraya using tbe sealing jutsu on the Amaterasu, how cool would that be to see mid fight, like Amaterasu is thrown and you just gotta throw a seal down quick or something
Nah the amaterasu is not senitent or discriminate. It will burn anything it hits regardless of intention. For evidence: Sasuke used on it Killer B in 8 tails mode and Karin accidentally got hit in the crossfire. Sasuke had to extinguish the flames but she was clearly burned.
I kinda want to see a what if Sasuke kept the curse mark when he got Ms would he have beaten bee, have cleared the five kage summit, and would have killed Kakashi or Naruto at that point
It was used to full potential. It helped itachi escape jiraiya, helped taka contend with the 8 tails, it almost killed sasuke, it helped sasuke fight the raikage and render the raikage helpless, Its been used and shown how lethal it was many times, it was manipulated to greater efficiency, used as a shield defensively, used as part of sasukes six path rinnegan ability. Whats missing? Its so overpowered they probably didn’t wanna use it too much unless the opponents could do something about it cuz otherwise sasukes fights would be boring, predictable, and fasr

I was still expecting you to give your opinion on *"why was Amaterasu useless?"* Is it because it was overpowered from the start? Or because one of the main characters got it? Or just plot holes and inconsistency that allowed even nameless samurai to survive Amaterasu?
it happened to all fire style and several other jutsu as well. it is a trap Kishimoto fell into a lot: either it one shots or does nothing at all. explosive tags are the most egregious since the only times they're useful are vs Hidan and random ninja in the war. If he did not have such a hard on for keeping people alive then it would not have come to this.
I feel like Amaterasu should technically be able to destroy all summoning creatures, susano, defensive barriers etc but it never does. It’s supposed to “not stop burning” but it seems to get shaken off easy

i blame shonen jump for many inconsistency in naruto. when naruto got popular world wide they clearly want this series to be family friendly. like with the case of itachi planting mangekyou in sasuke by doing something simple, i can see how hard it is to make a story with the baseline of "itachi planted his jutsu in sasuke's eye but make it family friendly" within a week. i can see a version where itachi gouge out sasuke's eye to make it appear that he's attacking sasuke but actually he's planting the jutsu. and i can see itachi keep playing the villain until his death and not the wholesome brother bullshit at the end. naruto at its early serialization was pretty gruesome, lots of blood and decapitation, as the series gains popularity it got "dbz'ed" by (i believe) jump editorial. its baseline were always violent and dark, and because of that when they turn naruto into ninja dragonball many of its aspect feels out of place, including itachi as itachi was one of the earliest plot in the manga.
It's the problem that a couple Stands in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure have, notably The Hand and Purple Haze. Both of them have abilities that, if they hit clean, or in Purple Haze's case hit at all, they will instantly kill the character, no questions asked. Obviously, if every fight they had was just them instantly killing their enemy in one hit, that would get really boring, especially since The Hand's user isn't really supposed to be like a psycho murderer. Same thing with Amaterasu. If Sasuke and Itachi were able to win every fight by just lighting the other dude on fire with magic fire, it would be boring, and because of how it works, you can't have it work like a Fireball Jutsu where it hits the guy, does some damage, and then goes away. There are only two scenarios with Amaterasu, either the guy gets hit by it and dies because he's on fire forever now, or he has some way to dodge or negate it and the fight continues, and this makes it incredibly hard to actually write an interesting fight with.
Itachi didn't burn off the curse msrm with anaterasu. Sasuke went into cm2 twice after he got hit with the flames. The mark was sucked alongside Orochimaru by Totsuka blade
Obito had to have used izanagi to survive the sealed amatarasu cause obito screamed in pain which means it burnt past his clothes and onto his skin. If obito had used kamui to absorb amatarasu then his clothes would've still be burnt or there would atleast be some sign of amatarasu hitting. Instead obito comes back as if nothing happened with his clothes and everything fully intact, even the mask which he partially removed was in place again which means he probably used izanagi. Amatarasu is simply too effective on paper to be allowed to do anything of significance in the story, otherwise it would ruin the show cause the answer to any of sasuke's problems would just be amatarasu
This man said that chakra fire might be sentient? Interesting Edit: could it just be a writing inconsistency that Madara shrugged off Amaterasu, given how it literally one hits a giant animal path summon? I feel like it’s just useful when the story needs it to be
A great fix for this would've been having Sasuke pop up and help with some Edo Tensei before the Kabuto fight, since the Amaterasu could've been shown to burn as fast or faster than Edo regen, but no. That would make it too useful.
Idk I think attack power wise it still holds up. Most people just divert or avoid it then outright tanking it. The ten tails tanked attacks from the whole world including kcm2 naruto and really didn’t show much discomfort. But sasuke hit it with Amaterasu and it verbally screamed in pain and had to just get rid of the piece of its body. Idk the way it’s portrayed is weird though at times. Sometimes it can instantly obliterate a flame proof toad and hurt the ten tails, and others it will take forever to even burn a tree. Kishimoto kinda just draws fire effects very subtle
The problem I have with amateurasu is how slow it is. For being so hot, everything it hits takes forever to burn if it even burns at all. Nagato, Madara, the samurai, and Jigen literally just sit there for a decent amount of time covered in it before they get a chance to dodge or absorb it and it does literally zero damage. The Raikage just casually cut his arm off with no urgency.
That's my issue with it too, you'd think it would just immediately reduce people to ashes on contact, but apparently, there's enough time to get your outfit off of you 😒
to be fair on the Raikage's part AY had high pain tolerance which is why he didn't react much to amateurasu or cutting his arm off he didn't even flinch when sasuke stabbed though his lighting armor with chidori

I like to think of Ameteratsu as an OHKO move from POKÉMON. Sure, it kills things, but it *NEVER* works in an important battle, like the elite 4. (I used the event Suicune with Sheer Cold, it only killed Will's second Xatu.)
If you use the head canon that Amaterasu only burns the intended target, you could imply that's the reason that it didn't burn the Samurai, as he was aiming for the Raikage. Just a thought.
It may only burn it's intended target, but I personally wouldn't want to be the one with a glob of sun-hot fire stuck to my metal armor. He might not be burning, but man's getting cooked
Amaterasu was too broken for future characters. Thats why speed feats got super hyped with Bee, Ay, War Arc characters, etc. It burned a hole immediately in the toad mouth yet next time we see it, it slowly overtakes Sasuke's Orochimaru-Style Substitution, then against Ay who was like standing there for 15 seconds until he sliced his forearm off. Its bad writing but the Jutsu can be wanked or shat on because it has some great and terrible feats. If Zetsu says it hits right when you are in their sight, idc how fast Ay is, he shouldn't have been able to dodge. Tsukuyomi and Amaterasu were way too powerful to deal with so Kishimoto slowly (like in my two examples) made it weaker/slower.
The issue with amaterasu is that it doesn't upscale well. We see a clear progression from sasukes chidori busting a wall to blowing up a meteor relative to his power progression. Amaterasu is already the pinnacle of fire release and stated to be as hot as the sun so how can it become any more powerful than what it is to keep up with the powercreep? It's not like chidori where you can enhance it with senjustu or six paths chakra, It's a hardcap justu that can't improve and worked only when it had the element of being unknown. The slow burning Aoe damage doesn't help either, giving an enemy way to much time to remove their, clothes, armor, substitute or even arm in order to survive its ridiculous. Blind Madara tanked amaterasu with his armor while just standing still and all it did was give my boy a literal warm up before he gave the gang an ass whooping
There was actually another time sasuke used it in boruto and that was in the sarada arc earlier in the anime. He saved sarada by using it on a trap that sarada had tripped when in shins hideout which made the weapon disappear or disintegrate almost instantly. He also used it on some of those sharp knife projectiles that shin used to penetrate sakuras shoulder which once again caused them to disintegrate almost instantaneously. He also used it to clear out a cave of white zetsu just before the chunin exams in boruto as well. The only problem with that example is that you don't actually see sasuke do it . You mainly just see the leftover flames still burning as team 7 stumble across them in the cave. Just thought I would toss in some extra examples.
I remember in the old Ultimate ninja games, Itachi had an ultimate where his Amaterasu was an instantaneous blast that basically instantly removed the target from existence, as if his looking at you reduced you to cinders in an instant, based off his use of it when escaping the toad mouth. He opened and closed his eyes in one moment and what he looked at was gone. To me, that’s much more badass than the current version
Yeah dude the video games use to definitely give me a “Mandela effect” where I would remember certain character’s abilities different than they were in the actual anime
I was never surprised Amaterasu didn’t accomplish much, it’s basically the ultimate fire technique and fir is ALWAYS useless in pretty much any show/fight because it would otherwise be too strong
To put it in Bleach (S) Abridged terms: "That's ridiculously OP. But it won't ever work on anyone important." Once you have a skill that simply can't be beaten if it hits you the goal is to always write it so that it never either hits you or if it does, they can prevent it from harming them, like having the part burned removed or just making the flames be nullified.
What makes this video even more gut wrenching is that fact that even in boruto it will never have a chance to shine since enemies can literally shrink, absorb and reflect the flames
Amaterasu got what I've started to refer to as the Sakura treatment. Notice how on the rare occasions she did fight she barely ever landed clean hits unless the enemy wasn't human (puppets for example?) It's because for 99% of the ninja in the world, they'd be dead immediately if she landed a clean hit on them full power. Even at the highest tiers in this verse, excluding shit like kaguya, without regen, taking a single punch to the face is gg. It makes for boring fights. Kishimoto wrote himself into a corner with her and to a lesser extent Tsunade as well. Amaterasu's the same way. Shit was too op to plan fights around because it's an instant win as written against 99% of people. So all of sudden everyone can either dodge it or nullify it completely with things like the rinnegan or karma. In any fight that you want Sasuke or itachi to be in that's meaningful you have to either nerf them or it because otherwise what's stopping them from just setting every person they see on fire the instant the fight starts? Especially Sasuke with flame control. This nerfing to prevent instant kills ultimately resulted in a situation where the most meaningful damage it ever did was to the raikage and that's only because he took the hit on purpose to land one of his on so that barely even counts. Eternal black flames hotter than any other that can burn whatever you're looking at, have achieved less in the series than the basic fire ball jutsu.... shameful.
The problem with Amaterasu and all abilities that are said to hit hard is that they are 1 shots, meaning that they will always be dodged absorbed or subverted in some way. These types of abilities are never meant to rly hit unless hitting does not mean a fataility.
It's the same problem with genjutsu really, where so many abilities in Naruto are just instant "I win" buttons that make it VERY difficult to write around without including a bunch of workarounds to the ability in question
I liked Dygoknight's position on it. The Amaterasu was just too strong to be allowed to do things, if we go by its description it's an easy one hit kill that can be aimed by sight. Letting it work as intended would've ruined every fight Sasuke was in, same for the human path.
A little clarification. When Itachi and Sasuke cast Amaterasu on the webs they didn’t repair themselves, they destroyed the webs aimed at them but Kabuto had already blitzed behind them and set up more webs at the back of the cave to corner them. So that was a W for them. Amaterasu suffers from the one hit kill problem of writing in that it’s a game ending jutsu that’s in the hands of one of the main characters, meaning that unless the author writes a way around it then it basically breaks so many writing opportunities. But it’s too big and impressive to be used for small scale stuff like when Sasuke cast a genjutsu on Danzo. So it ends up in this trap where it’s not used to end fights because that’s boring, but it’s never used effectively because of or-home number 1, ending up with a jutsu that on paper is not as impressive as the vibe it gives off.
Amaterasu should be extremely powerful but due to it being given to a main protagonist, its overall power and effectiveness is considerably decreased as the story develops likely because of its potential ability to annihilate everything.
Try to picture how terrifying Amateurasu would've been if people immediately got reduced to ashes from just grazing it... I feel like that would've made it much more intimidating because the way it was displayed made all those crazy statements seem like hyperbole. Honestly, even the Scorch release Kekkei from Pakura looked more threatening than Amateurasu 😑
The problem with an instant kill move is anime is meant to be exciting, and if the character just immediately killed their opponent, that would be boring and anticlimactic. It’s the same thing in Dragonball Z. Krillin is depicted as kinda a joke, but the guy has a move that is incredibly lethal. His Kienzan (Destructo Disk) in the beginning of Z was legit oneshot, if he could land that he could have bisected both Nappa AND Vegeta. But you know how boring the Saiyan Saga would have been if they showed up and Krillin just immediately killed them, as well as in the future the only people who he manages to hit can all regenerate.
Actually your “theory” about why the amaterasu didnt burn the trees isnt just conjecture. Zetsu describes it as “the fire that continues to burn until its target is completely destroyed” which implies that it knows what its target is, because otherwise how would it know when to stop burning?
Since Amatersu keeps burning anything till its ash, when we saw it get on Orichimarus snake it meant, which would go with Jiraiya telling naruto to get back in part 1, that if you get it on you it'll reignite unless you can seal it or use the rinnegan to push it off you physically, otherwise it isn't goin away Would make sense too why kidumarus webs were able to regenerate, the places that were hit were burnt to ash, but he could just replace it, couldn't be done by someone that gets hit with their skin, further proof the ten tails having to take the skin off it was burning on as a whole
I dount count Sasuke failing to use it effectively against Raikage against him at all, because every time it failed it was because Raikage straight up threw caution to the wind in and suffered for it. He threw away his hand to knock Sasuke down, and then he was gonna sacrifice his life, because stomping on Sasuke's Kagutsuchi would've resulted in flames all over his body. That means it succeeded in granting Raikage a severe injury, and WOULD'VE been the greatest success of the jutsu in the series: killing a Kage level opponent.
Keep in mind that Naruto fights aren't just about damage. It's about forcing your opponent to use up his Chakra faster than you use yours. That's classic war, make the enemy utilize his resources faster than you do.
Just observe the rate at which amaterasu eradicates objects vs jiraiya toad stomach summoning. - Raikage dodged it (makes sense) - Gaara's sand blocked it (doesn't make sense), his sand should have been eaten away quickly, ofc not every sand. - Danzo izanagi (makes sense) - Sasuke orochimaru-style substitution (make sense) - edo nagato shinra tensei (doesn't make sense, should have eaten away quickly). - Madara absorbed it with no rinnegan, blind (wtf?) - otsutsukis absorb it (make sense). - Naruto shrugs amaterasu off with kyubi v2 chakra cloak (wtf?) - Sasuke added amaterasu to chidori. It should have completely negated rasengan (acc to amaterasu definition). But amaterasu was just a powerup.
Because he put the cloak like a layer to get rid of it which makes sense it like Sasuke Orochimaru style substitution he gets rid of the layer the Amaterasu on

Obito acknowledge that if Itachi knew about Obito completely meaning either the first hashirama cells saved him or what I think was Izanagi.
So Amataratsu still was OP even then.
Cant wait to see it, thanks for all the content you've been putting lately
5:36 Imagine a leaf burning with Amaterasu falls from a tree and touches your shoulder for an instant.
I LIKE THIS NEW FORMAT, GOOD SHIT MR SIX
Editing like this is easy I think imma keep doing it.
Natsu and fire force laughing at you with Natsu literally burning concepts
@@gameuniverse5973 Fire Force is anime about fire, it fucking better accomplish something, and Natsu's whole thing is fire. Exceptions to a general trend don't disprove the theory
Leave it to naruto to see black fire that just burnt an unbreakable wall, and think “ima touch it”
Downside of one-shot abilities is you can never use them to any useful degree because the reader will generally see it as unsatisfying and audiences want to see a full fight. Even OPM has to get tossed around a ton before the author lets him just flick away the enemy
The problem is that amaterasu was so op that Kishimoto had to make sure everyone else who encountered it could either counter it or just absorb it.
Can we get a vid on the other clans that were under utilized ,like how we go a whole show without hearing about the ketsuryagan or the aburame clan ,literally can send a mosquito at u and neg u
Obito should have taken Kakashi's eye in before Chuunin exam arc, before he even knew he had a MS.
Then all his battle would have ended easily.
Naruto should have If routes like Re: zero.
Amaterasu itself is not that strong
But flame control is broken ,I would say is kamui level , because Kaguya didn't want to get hit by flame control ,even if she've absorbed it before
It kinda negs the 98%of the verse because it can be solid like a rock ,and it cuts through everything because it burns through everything
So like Kishimoto made amaterasu strong with the right eye of Sasuke ,kagatsuchi is actually that string
It’s definitely strong just not for plot
I mean when you have anything that's a one shot kill, there needs to be a huge sacrifice to justify the character deciding to use it. The move just became a replacement for regular fire rather than being a legendary attack.
Thats why you cant give the heroes op abilities like the villains. Cause they will either get nerfed or written out of the story
removing your clothes after it is being hit by amaterasu is just a one time remedy thing in a fight.
12:40 madara just takes his clothes off💀😭. kishimoto just said fuck it because he’s the final villain & needed to show he was strong
The answer to this is one rooted in storytelling laws
Stories don't like immediate long lasting consequences this is why swords ⚔️ , bullets and acid can't actually do anything
Blunt/impact type hits are better hence why kicks and fist fights work or even pierce type attacks (chidori)
*Characters can shrug off getting blasted by a tailed beast bomb*
*Dies instantly to a Kunai to the arm*
It's why instant kill techniques or near instant kill techniques can be difficult to write or deal with especially if your protagonist is put up against it or has one. Since it's hard to work around that ability for tension purposes. I'm not saying it's impossible because it has been done
Basically regular flames that never go out
You wanna know what's funny? in the harry potter world, there's a spell called "protego diabolica" and it happens to take the form of black flames (according to the books), as it is shown to completely incinerate anyone caught in the flames in mere seconds
I don’t think it was the izanagi Obito used to escape. Otherwise Sasuke would’ve noticed the similarity when Danzo used the same technique later on.
@Six also technically it did kill danzo he just came back lol
The funny thing is that it is not like it MATTERS if Madara was burning to the bone. Hashirama cells are so bullshit the guy replaced a game cartridge.
Some of my fav stuff in naruto is jiraya using tbe sealing jutsu on the Amaterasu, how cool would that be to see mid fight, like Amaterasu is thrown and you just gotta throw a seal down quick or something
Anime/manga rule is that fire doesnt burn :P
5:30
What if the amaterasu embers that fall from the trees are too great a risk to just run through? That'd be my headcannon-y theory
A classic example on how a jutsu is so powerful that it was only used properly like once or twice
I kinda want to see a what if Sasuke kept the curse mark when he got Ms would he have beaten bee, have cleared the five kage summit, and would have killed Kakashi or Naruto at that point
I wish he still had curse mark, it would've been his way of having nature energy
Its so overpowered they probably didn’t wanna use it too much unless the opponents could do something about it cuz otherwise sasukes fights would be boring, predictable, and fasr
helpless, in what did you see the raikage shurgg that weak shit off you watching a different anime get your eyes check
@@Thatgumurk he was able to still smack around sasuke in his susanoo and even covered in amaterasu but he wasn’t actually hurting sasuke. Ofc he’d appear to shrug it off, his pride is on the line, hes in front of some of his peers fighting the person who dealt with his bro, hes gonna be very prideful and treat that like it was nothing but he was forced to handicap himself or else he’d burn alive. Amaterasu allowed sasuke to contend and do damage to the raikage. Idk if that heel drop would have killed sasuke through the ribcage but it definitely would have messed raikage up
Jigen was like thanks for the Amaterasu ramen sasuke
I was still expecting you to give your opinion on *"why was Amaterasu useless?"*
Is it because it was overpowered from the start?
12:40 to be fair that’s armor
To be fair to amaterasu the rasengan doesn't kill anyone either.
It can, giant rasengan killed yura and rasenshuriken is insta kill to all enemies who aren’t at least edo madara durability
@@avarice-j7y I'm guessing your talking about the itachi fight. No the rasengan did not kill him they auto die once the jutsu is over, its a jitsu pain created for kisame and itachi to use, its talked about in the 3rd data book I think. Kakazu needed to be finished of after and he was the only person we actually see get absolutely minced by the rasenshuriken. The pains are puppet dead bodies so they don't count.
@@badassproductions4734 alright I see
@kollie79 I didn’t say amaterasu couldn’t kill, what abt my logic was flawed?
It killed Momoshiki
It was an ability designed for a villain, not for a protagonist.
If a power is too powerful then it either must be nerfed or other abilities must triumph over it or counter it.
finally someone covering it lol
Itachi burned a powerful anbu alive with hit, one of the coldest scene that was not even in the original source/anime, outside of that it was not that yet used or it when used it was simply useless, most characters sasuke used one, had counters, dodges, teleports and much more, sometimes even all of the above combined...
i blame shonen jump for many inconsistency in naruto. when naruto got popular world wide they clearly want this series to be family friendly. like with the case of itachi planting mangekyou in sasuke by doing something simple, i can see how hard it is to make a story with the baseline of "itachi planted his jutsu in sasuke's eye but make it family friendly" within a week.
i can see a version where itachi gouge out sasuke's eye to make it appear that he's attacking sasuke but actually he's planting the jutsu. and i can see itachi keep playing the villain until his death and not the wholesome brother bullshit at the end.
naruto at its early serialization was pretty gruesome, lots of blood and decapitation, as the series gains popularity it got "dbz'ed" by (i believe) jump editorial. its baseline were always violent and dark, and because of that when they turn naruto into ninja dragonball many of its aspect feels out of place, including itachi as itachi was one of the earliest plot in the manga.
What is this thumbnail from?
So...what happened to the toad Itachi burned?
But then Sasuke's Amaterasu wouldn't have burned Karin cuz he was aiming at Killer Bee.
Amatarasu is simply too effective on paper to be allowed to do anything of significance in the story, otherwise it would ruin the show cause the answer to any of sasuke's problems would just be amatarasu
useles after the second half of ship maybe but enton kagatsuchi was OP
Simple answer if your aren't the main villain going against fodder 1 shot technique in anime tend not to actually one shot anybody
The issue is that Amataerasu was was mostly used on people who were just stronger than it or could brush it off
Amaterasu is a REALLY powerful jutsu, just easily countered. Tbh I’m glad imagine if Sasuke just used Amaterasu and most the antagonist and just wins
This man said that chakra fire might be sentient? Interesting
Edit: could it just be a writing inconsistency that Madara shrugged off Amaterasu, given how it literally one hits a giant animal path summon? I feel like it’s just useful when the story needs it to be
It’s such a cool attack too
Hello there
A great fix for this would've been having Sasuke pop up and help with some Edo Tensei before the Kabuto fight, since the Amaterasu could've been shown to burn as fast or faster than Edo regen, but no. That would make it too useful.
Itachi’s strength was never chakra amount he was the Batman of the series.
About madara, i bet that he used the preta path to absorb the jutsu (headcanon)
The problem I have with amateurasu is how slow it is. For being so hot, everything it hits takes forever to burn if it even burns at all. Nagato, Madara, the samurai, and Jigen literally just sit there for a decent amount of time covered in it before they get a chance to dodge or absorb it and it does literally zero damage. The Raikage just casually cut his arm off with no urgency.
Fr you’d think it was like dabi quirk or sumn
Plus it makes inconsistent with its appearance on OG Naruto. It was able to destroy the toad guts and the wall in a matter of seconds.
That's my issue with it too, you'd think it would just immediately reduce people to ashes on contact, but apparently, there's enough time to get your outfit off of you 😒
thats just inconsistency.
Did you miss when Itachhi Escaped Jiraiya?
to be fair on the Raikage's part AY had high pain tolerance which is why he didn't react much to amateurasu or cutting his arm off he didn't even flinch when sasuke stabbed though his lighting armor with chidori
Amaturasu is an example of a power so broken it can never work. Like the spirit bomb.
Itachi was so mysterious I bet not even Kishimoto knows how his abilities work

@@spacenoodles3700 yeah ik, it's just a massive meme to say things like "madara/itachi soloed kishimoto, not even he knew how to beat him", when that in fact, did not happen
That's the problem of having an ability that is so overpowered that it landing is an instant win condition. Either it would always work, which would make fights boring because of its insanely easy activation condition, or it needs to never work.
I like to think of Ameteratsu as an OHKO move from POKÉMON. Sure, it kills things, but it *NEVER* works in an important battle, like the elite 4. (I used the event Suicune with Sheer Cold, it only killed Will's second Xatu.)
Exactly
If you use the head canon that Amaterasu only burns the intended target, you could imply that's the reason that it didn't burn the Samurai, as he was aiming for the Raikage.
Just a thought.
That samurai was screaming though ngl lmfao
@@sixfromtokyo Maybe just fear from the shock of suddenly being on fire?
The problem is characters got stronger, when you make protagonists too strong, you have to make antagonists stronger
Didn’t Itachi use it against Yagura 😅
@@Pj_Live305 yeah he did. Itachi beat yagura with amaterasu but had the element of it being unknown back then so it was more effective.
@@AvatarYoku he didn’t even win yagura was still alive
If Amaterasu wasn’t hard nerfed that 5 Kage summit probably would of ended very differently lol
To put it in Bleach (S) Abridged terms:
"That's ridiculously OP. But it won't ever work on anyone important."
Once you have a skill that simply can't be beaten if it hits you the goal is to always write it so that it never either hits you or if it does, they can prevent it from harming them, like having the part burned removed or just making the flames be nullified.
What makes this video even more gut wrenching is that fact that even in boruto it will never have a chance to shine since enemies can literally shrink, absorb and reflect the flames
Amaterasu got what I've started to refer to as the Sakura treatment.
Notice how on the rare occasions she did fight she barely ever landed clean hits unless the enemy wasn't human (puppets for example?)
It's because for 99% of the ninja in the world, they'd be dead immediately if she landed a clean hit on them full power.
Eternal black flames hotter than any other that can burn whatever you're looking at, have achieved less in the series than the basic fire ball jutsu.... shameful.
Same thing with chibaku tensei, every time we see it used, most can breaks out of it besides Kaguya.
Amaterasu is the coolest thing ever. Everything from the name, to the sound, to the way it’s used, to the “burning for 7 days and 7 nights”.
But it got nerfed to death
No it wasn't, is Amaterasu stronger than particle style?
Great video bro🔥 i never thought amaterasu was that useless😂
Expectation: Undying flame that turns all to ash
Reality: Its kind of hot I guess
Since Amatersu keeps burning anything till its ash, when we saw it get on Orichimarus snake it meant, which would go with Jiraiya telling naruto to get back in part 1, that if you get it on you it'll reignite unless you can seal it or use the rinnegan to push it off you physically, otherwise it isn't goin away
Would make sense too why kidumarus webs were able to regenerate, the places that were hit were burnt to ash, but he could just replace it, couldn't be done by someone that gets hit with their skin, further proof the ten tails having to take the skin off it was burning on as a whole
it's not just amaterasu. it's fire style im general.
12:33 I was thinking about Micheal Jackson when you were talking about Madara's hair should've been on fire lol. But I think Marada absorbed it.
- Raikage dodged it (makes sense)
- Gaara's sand blocked it (doesn't make sense), his sand should have been eaten away quickly, ofc not every sand.
- Danzo izanagi (makes sense)
- Sasuke orochimaru-style substitution (make sense)
- edo nagato shinra tensei (doesn't make sense, should have eaten away quickly).
- Madara absorbed it with no rinnegan, blind (wtf?)
- otsutsukis absorb it (make sense).
- Naruto shrugs amaterasu off with kyubi v2 chakra cloak (wtf?)
- Sasuke added amaterasu to chidori. It should have completely negated rasengan (acc to amaterasu definition). But amaterasu was just a powerup.
Because he put the cloak like a layer to get rid of it which makes sense it like Sasuke Orochimaru style substitution he gets rid of the layer the Amaterasu on
@@gameuniverse5973 I'm talking about the speed with which amaterasu eats. Just see vs jiraiya toad stomach summoning. It led to a big ass hole in wall in few seconds. Amaterasu was nerfed badly.
The Nagato one is fine in my opinion being as he's a reanimation and is continually regening while he's being damaged
