- Gen-1 is a new AI model by Runway Research that uses language and images to generate new videos out of existing ones. It is based on diffusion models, which are a type of generative model that can produce high-resolution images and videos. Gen-1 is designed for creative storytelling and experimentation. Matt. imagine a world where i can pay Netflix or a game company $60 and and detailed prompt about a movie or game i want, and their advanced algorithm generates and sends me and entire game / movie about the prompt i sent. sounds insane, but its seemingly entirely possible in the next 20 years

@@lp712 I totally agree but... if you want a really good movie with good story and good quality and no A.I goofs, then I think we need to wait at least 5 years
And i hope by “pay a game company” you mean pay an online service that makes your game/movie within minutes. You won’t be waiting for anyone to “send” something to you… you will literally just type a prompt and wait however long (not long at all) and then it’s ready to go/download

VR/AR will explode when this happens real time. Imagine wanting to go for a walk, but you want to do it through Night City or Kings Landing… put your headset on, enter sone prompts and literally enter another world. How could you NOT be excited?!

With ARM processors similar to the Apple M2’s it’s entirely possible that our phones could act as the supercomputer that communicates with our AR glasses in the future.

AI video is today where AI image was about a year or so ago. In a year from now. no doubt its going to be amazing how good video is...Hollywood will be in big trouble once we can name cinematic stories at home. Imagine a repository of huge cinematic movies people are sharing...fanfic will be insane (and a lot of it no doubt being better than the trash hollywood is putting out lately)
Yes my friend in tech said the whole entertainment is about split open like and egg and there will be no more secrets to making great content for everyone. You’ll still need artistic sensibilities but if there’s an artist in all of us it’s about to get a SERIOUS workout

@@snickle1980 Ai won't change the war of ideas, it will still be really good ideas that make the most traction, just like when photography happened and it didn't delete the world of art. I'm excited to see what's next!

@@veenasuresh7054 Same reason I can make a story, but I am also interested in other peoples stories. Other people will prompt differently and make elements better than you made.
And keep in mind, for now AI can't create anything on its own, it needs to be told what to do. My blender may save me a ton of time cutting and blending manually, but it won't decide I may like a smoothy and make it without me interacting with it first.
The flood gates of creativity are about to burst open… GEN1 is just the beginning.

I hope it democratizes the film making process. Why should all movies be made in Hollywood, which is just one city? Why can't you have a major movie studio right down the street from where you live? Conservative Andrew Torba wants to take the technology and use it to create conservative films rather than the liberal fare that usually comes out of Hollywood.
Bro, we can make entire movies with this on a budget. It's amazing!
I wouldn't go so far as to say that it looks realistic. It looks pretty good for AI generated video considering it's early days for this tech. It is impressive for what it's achieving for sure.

Basically. Some people will make brilliant stuff but 90% will just be flooding UA-cam with low effort style transfers of popular videos, movie trailers, etc. Like every other image generation post I see is either a meme or some chick with gigantic boobs.
This is what it must have felt like when they first invented the phone or the camera. We are at the beginning of a new galactic era. The world is changing - it's very exciting - I love it!

I remember the switch from analogue to digital, and the advent of the internet in the late 80s-early 90s.
Those giant breakthroughs now feel like small blips on the radar in comparison.
With the invention of the internet, we had many surprises along the way, and many changes...but overall, we knew what to expect.
It was a variation on a theme, ya know?
After all, If you understand the concept of "horse and buggy", you can understand how the new "horseless carriage" will shape the nation and the world moving forward.
We're integrating AI into our society and culture at a MUCH faster pace, and it's _wild!_
So much so that I can't predict where it will lead, and therefore, can never prepare adequately. 😄
This may sound a bit odd, but the creation of generative AI doesnt feel completely like a disruptive _Tech._
It feels more like that expression _"Another player has entered the game."_
It's a difficult sensation to describe, but This feels like the creation of an _Entity_ rather than a tech.
What we've birthed, is now in it's infancy.
We'll nurture it, instill our values and educate it throughout the early formative years. One day, we'll set it free to make it's own creations.
I hope it appreciates the sacrifice we'll be making. 😑

2:38 + 2:47 + 2:49 + 2:55 - prior to GEN 1, we used to have to consume heavy drugs in sheer amounts to see THIS! 🤣
5:00 amazing, when you consider you’ll be able to take gameplay video or old films and have it render it however you want. Like take any old game and have it look like some cinematic film, or some old film and have it process it so the whole look of it looks modern. Just getting ideas for games is an amazing idea, you could try it on games close to what you want to make and when you find something you like you can go make that. Or take one of your own videos with your phone and imagine it was a high quality film camera shot by Steven Spielberg or something
I always have to check if they are simply doing a IMG 2 IMG batch conversion of an existing video (which is not new) or if they are animating a SINGLE still image into an animation that didn't originally exist.
It's the latter for this case
I honestly have trouble imagining what things will look like a year or maybe two years from now. Progress is very very fast. Even if progress isn't fast in some projects because they haven't released anything in a while (Stable Diffusion for example), we can be sure things are going on behind the scenes, or we can expect progress to go faster when the lawsuit has been processed so that they know which way to take the project. Either way, the future is looking bright for AI and I can't wait to see what comes next!
Stable Diffusion is still extremely impressive. I've seen so much progress in realistic image generation just from the community releasing improved and specialized models. It's honestly getting hard to tell sometimes if a picture is generated or an actual photo.

@@DaveGouda Yeah, I agree, it wasn't long ago that I couldn't even imagine a computer being able to create photorealistic images just based on a prompt. Progress is insanely fast!
Stable Diffusion is seeing the fastest progress of any technology existing. Stability AI has nothing to do with it, it's all community driven.
@@shishbasupalit5955 Only Stability AI can train on the datasets needed to take it to the next level, sure we can finetune it using thousands of images and merge models, etc., but not millions of images. For that we need Stability AI.

Nightmare fuel at the moment but lets remember that Text to Image was like that and now it's so much better.
I can't even imagine how artists can think AI is a tool for hurting their interests. All of this stuff is so obviously amazing for empowering people to make what they always wanted to, but couldn't afford to.
I think to those whose profession it is to bring to life someone else's idea yeah, it would understandably affect their interests. I'm on the other side you mention though, it empowers me, and I love it to an incredible degree, but I can understand how some would think otherwise. I feel with time, hopefully, they will learn to incorporate AI into their workflow, instead of fighting it.
It's important to keep in mind that it is frustrating for a lot of people. Technology is unexpectedly, seemingly out of nowhere, taking their jobs. Having to change jobs because of someone else is frustrating, and understandably so.
Art will slowly become more and more accessible to everyone, which is an amazing contribution to self expression.
This change won't make everyone happy, but I believe it deserves to be in the hands of everyone. Having freedom of expression, and accessibility to the tools is a good thing overall.
When it comes to any big change, there are two choices. Either take advantage of it and become an expert with it. or fight it and lose. People are so quick to feel threatened they dont even think about how they can use it.

Partly it’s because it was trained on their copyrighted work without consent. Contrast that with the very cautious approach to not using copyrighted music in models. It’s pure exploitation. That inconsistency proves it. I think stability broke the law by doing that, we will see if anything comes of that abuse. It obviously should have been opt in rather than “one day we will let you opt out”

Apparently, James Cameron is already talking about using future AI advancements for the Avatar brand (maybe for small-screen content, for the most part). The game has already changed.
Games are about to become what our dreams of futuristic games have always been. A world that generates itself, based on your own personal journey in the game. No more genetic boring areas or characters, unique experiences etc. Developers will transition to a higher dimension, and act more like God.
It's weird to think that people who are really good with words are the ones who'll get the most out of AI. Honestly, they'll be a whole profession one day just of who can talk to AI good. AI Whisperers we'll call them.

Every week now, I'm getting "Nice AI writing, bro" or something similar. It's annoying.
You're not wrong through, and I've noticed a similar phenomenon with the recent AI Streamer personalities like AI Jordan Peterson, George Carlin and AI Moist Cr1tical. When the AI is based off of someone with a solid vocabulary, it's interactions are far more complex, detailed and interactive with the audience. They catch subtle nuances of speech and writing that other AI do not.
All from vocabulary. But anyway...I fear that writers will become an endangered species.

Prompt engineers are just training the models to replace them as well. Of course the machines will be better at writing them than humans.

The idea (prompt) is the important thing here...when humans will connect brain to computers...there ll be something incredible...we will represent our ideas instantly😂 People r playing with prompts, but this will go faraway than creating stupid videos.

I don't get the hype. It looks like Stable Diffusion Deforum animation that has been out for 8 months now. This just looks like a commercialized version of that.

They added image input support to the new version of chatgpt recently i think. You could try that.

This is going to be the source of many nightmares. We can litteraly express visually our oneiric worlds with this.
This is so tight. Creativity in filming will skyrocket plenty with the help of this tech. A.I. just eliminated the need for green screen and expensive props. Imagine what you can pull off with things just laying around the house. I'm even happy for all the actors who are going to be spared countless hours of having smelly prosthetics and thick makeup applied to their bodies and faces. Looks like FX artists may have to pick up some computer skills.

That was pretty unexpected but cool to see that burger video cause it was made in the PlayStation game Dreams I recognized the UI immediately since I follow a bunch of projects made with it.
AIs are increasingly advanced and increasingly demanding computational power, so this will practically become a tool like unity, unreal or blender as it becomes something more consistent, it's like 3d art, it's better than 2d art because it's more customizable but it doesn't replace 2d art as they are different things and work differently, it's more likely that the AI will become the same thing (someone making art with AI is not the same thing as doing it manually, I've tried)

Imagine Gen-3 of this connected to AR glasses with future Chat GPT built in with a neurolink connection so thoughts transmit a direct and seemless feedback through the glasses creating an augmented visual reality and connected to almost infinite knowledge that constantly adapts its behaviour depending on your thoughts and emotions helping create a utopian life where everything is beautiful and we never had to struggle...but then comes the marketers and advertisers...and fucked it for us all fast forward a few years and its the zombie apocalypse. The end.

If we do the videos by using a chroma key background , we don’t mix ourselves with the background.
