This is also my favorite part of the entire movie. This actress was simply fantastic!!! I can remember rewinding it over and over just to see this part.
When I was a boy. I was a good student. Everybody were kind before I drop out. I didn't have feeling until seeing my mothers tear. Her song reminded me the feeling I've had.
Her interpretation is not the best, but I like how at the beginning she laughs and makes jokes, and she gets more serious during the song and almost ends up in tears at the end.
I had a lecturer like this, the criticism wasnt as targeted as it was in her case, but he was a real pompous man, who made his course more difficult and tedious than it needed to be (and it was an already difficult subject) I pushed to pass his course anyway, Then a few months later...he died. I dont know if its worse to be hypocritical and dislike someone in life , then be all sympathetic and sad when they die. Or if its worse to use your dislike of a person to justify not caring about them dying. Either way, her crying at the end because she felt nothing was a mood I could relate to when I walked pass his memorial service so I could get home.
Becca Chapman well, this whole movie was just Meh. The stage versions are so much better. This is such a great song and she just doesn’t do it justice 🤦🏽♀️❤️
Thank you the Late Professor William Robert Stephen Gerristead , for the teaching in life and love for 5 years. Thank you My Dear , For the 40 years of your career from 1978 to 2018 Born May 16th 1961 and Died tragically April 10th 2018 . Welcome 🙏 home to the Lord . Superman.
our school did "a punch line" {Like a chorus line, but with comedians) (a custom play) we used all the songs from this, just changed the lyrics, and made it more hilarious.
I absolutely love this song. At first glance it seems like one of the lesser songs from the show, but if you really analyze it, it's so powerful. I do agree that this was a little too harsh for my taste, but still a good performance. Is it just me, though, or does she kind of look like a female version of Mario Lopez during his "Saved By The Bell" Days? :-P
When you lose a Performing Arts genius who pushes you to your limits, you never forget what they taught you, when life was scarier to a stage performance, in life there are no dress rehearsals, life is a stage.
Same here- especially the very end: "6 months later I heard that Carp had died... so I dug way down to the bottom of my soul, and cried... 'cause I felt.. nothing...." :*)
Yeah I think they could've done better without Cassie. It just...idk...it seems like maybe the musical didn't run long enough so they wanted to put that subplot in there
Yamil Borgess is my favorite Dianna. Probably the ONLY one to really seem Puerto Rican and act the song with an array of attitude and emotions. "You know what Morales. I think you should transfer to Girls High. You'll never be an actress. NEVER."
I watched a stage production of A Chorus line and it seems to be pretty in line with the movie. So I'm not sure why people dump on it so much. Also, I like this Diana Morales better than the one in the stage play I saw. Borges reeks NYC where of course this is set.
Robert Lopez Jlo Was Diana To Me When She Was Starting Out Dancing n Acting. She Got Her Movie Quote ‘ Were Puerto Rician We Jump Around A lot n Jlo Did Her Shaking Dance When She Was Younger
I really like this song. I thought Yamil Borges, did an incredible job with it. If she didn't, she wouldn't have become a successful singer over in Germany.
@cb2398 Haha! You have a good sense of humor. On a more serious note, yeah, I've known some people like that. They pretty much trudge through life repeating to themselves, "This bullshit is absurd."
@cb2398 I'm not 100% sure that's what it means. I have always interpreted those lines to mean that she couldn't feel anything for him, so she faked it because she IS a real actress. It's away to rub it in his face.
So.... how much of this movie is these extremely talented dancers standing passively on a line watching a solo number where another talented dancer doesn't dance, but sings? Watching the initial scenes, that's not what I thought this movie would be... I mean, at least they could have come up with a dance sequence as part of the song....
Woo we're doing this as part of our school musical (Its a mixture of loads of musicals) and the girl that's doing it, my GOD she's amazing! Like way better than this person here :D
Theya Havranek she was crying because she didn't feel anything when she heard the teacher died. The way he treated her caused her to lose all sympathy for him.
allieandfluff in making a musical they rarely sing on set. They recorded in the studio then lip sync as they film. Hard to get good sound and the actors voice can tire after 10-20 takes. But it is her own singing
theminutepast she does cares that Mr. Carp died. You can see it in her explanation. He may have been tough on her but she still misses him and now she knows why. very sweet 😢
Acting in a play is different bc it's more emotional and more about feeling. That's hard to convey thru a screen. But lets be honest: there are some real shitey plays out there too. Hello Dolly for example. The only reason why ppl say the play is better is bc seeing a play isn't as accessible as seeing a movie. If more ppl saw plays vs. movies, I guarantee you that plays like Wicked and Hamilton will get BETTER critiques that are more about story, design and pace rather than just design.
These orchestrations are so utterly awful No wonder this is the biggest flop of a Broadway musical to the screen of all time. This Diana Morales is horrific.
If you really think about it she was trying to see how inanimate objects felt and she did cause they don't feel anything
Damn you're right!! But why did she feel nothing when she was on the bobsled?
@@Showfanslyc the bobslegh it's also an object it doesn't feel just moves...
B O O M...mind blown.
Oh that makes so much sense
I guess I am kinda randomly asking but does anyone know a good place to stream newly released tv shows online?
This is also my favorite part of the entire movie. This actress was simply fantastic!!! I can remember rewinding it over and over just to see this part.
I loved this song. It's the one that stands out for me most
She's wonderful. She can shift from one actor with her voice to another so easily. Great voice!
it's dubbed, not her voice
I always thought the last three lines were how she felt nothing about his death but she was now a good actor with out him so she cried anyways
I think every Hispanic in America has sung randomly, "Went to church, praying, Santa Maria, Send me guidance, send me guidance"
tipofmytongue1024 Yes we have. We all have.
What are you all talking about?! I love this womans voice!!!
what is everyone talking about....I fell in love with this song because of her singing!
A much as people hate on this woman, I really enjoy her voice
Your sarcasm is delicious! her voice is awful
What is the best? Is acting a contest?
One of my favorite songs from Chorus Line.
I love when she holds those notes
I loved this movie, this was my favorite part and the very end of the movie. She did a great job.
My fave song from this movie. It's been easily 20 years or more since I saw it and I'm amazed I remembered the words mostly. Thanks for posting.
I had a lecturer like this, the criticism wasnt as targeted as it was in her case, but he was a real pompous man, who made his course more difficult and tedious than it needed to be (and it was an already difficult subject) I pushed to pass his course anyway, Then a few months later...he died.

I'm singing that song in my singing class right now :)
same
My daughter sang it for her GSCSE music oral.
This was the most relatable part of the show to me. I had an acting teacher just like Mr Karp and I couldn’t get into method acting.
The final moments with Morales makes me chil into this movie
She is awesome . The best one ever a natural in her performance!!
I dug right down to the bottom of my soul....Love it!
Even though the film isn’t great I still love this bit
A girl performed this in my school's talent show. I think she could give this lady a run for her money on this skit.
Becca Chapman well, this whole movie was just Meh. The stage versions are so much better. This is such a great song and she just doesn’t do it justice 🤦🏽♀️❤️

that karp accent was............rough
my favourite song in the movie! thanks for posting :)

@flickingmybick She cried because she turned into an actress and could fake the crying but she still felt nothing.-she was good!
When you lose a Performing Arts genius who pushes you to your limits, you never forget what they taught you, when life was scarier to a stage performance, in life there are no dress rehearsals, life is a stage.
WHO DID NOT SING THAT ENTIRE SONG?!?!?!?!?
.......YOU'RE LYING
I haven't seen it enough and don't remember all of the lyrics, but I sang what I could remember.
You may try listening Leah Salonga's Version.
this is my favorite part in the whole movie i loveee this song oh so much :] :D
A very good film
This is awesome.
Diana, I know how you feel. We had a crack pot immature theatre teacher my junior year in High School.
I agree.... But this woman is the best one.
@theminutepast she was sad because she wasn't sad that he died...if that makes sense
Bonnie it does.
Yes
I thought it was supposed to be a commentary about how you don’t have to feel anything to be a great actress.
simply fantastic
The fabulous Miss Borgess...............WOW
Haha I always loved that last sentence
God, this song got me to cry and laugh - good combo!
I love this part too
I Love it ❤️
Same here- especially the very end:
"6 months later I heard that Carp had died...
so I dug way down to the bottom of my soul,
and cried...
'cause I felt.. nothing...." :*)
I never had the chance to see this on Broadway, so I like the movie. I just can't stand Cassie - I pass over all of her scenes.
Janaya Crudup same. I don't care for the actress, her looks, her hair, and her storyline.
Yeah I think they could've done better without Cassie. It just...idk...it seems like maybe the musical didn't run long enough so they wanted to put that subplot in there
the directors in my drama club said that i cant sing unless i find pitch, im on a spotlight and tonight is opening night, guess whose practicing
Will never compare to the broadway show.
Yamil Borgess is my favorite Dianna. Probably the ONLY one to really seem Puerto Rican and act the song with an array of attitude and emotions. "You know what Morales. I think you should transfer to Girls High. You'll never be an actress. NEVER."
People cut on the movie, but I really enjoy the casting of Diana, Sheila and Maggie, more than the original Broadway cast.
Robert Lopez I think, no I know she is fucking fantastic in this role. She's made me cry since I was 12. I can't watch anyone else do this number.
I watched a stage production of A Chorus line and it seems to be pretty in line with the movie. So I'm not sure why people dump on it so much. Also, I like this Diana Morales better than the one in the stage play I saw. Borges reeks NYC where of course this is set.

@snerkful Connie Wong sidesteps the question of her age earlier in the show/movie. She gets caught in this clip.
IS SHE AN ALTO?!?!?!
hola. Mucho. Gracias. Está. Música. Está. Mí. Favorito
@allieandfluff they usually lip sync when they film and then record a soundtrack and add it to the movie
I really like this song. I thought Yamil Borges, did an incredible job with it. If she didn't, she wouldn't have become a successful singer over in Germany.
I feel nothing after seeing the show live because I went into a dream coma
Why is this only showing my views???
Thumbs up if you've had a teacher like this. :P
I like 4:16-4:42. It made me laugh :D
Amaaazing
its also really obvious at 1:36
Damn this woman is pretty.
@cb2398 No kidding, your friend is Ann Coulter?
@cb2398 Haha! You have a good sense of humor. On a more serious note, yeah, I've known some people like that. They pretty much trudge through life repeating to themselves, "This bullshit is absurd."
@cb2398 I'm not 100% sure that's what it means. I have always interpreted those lines to mean that she couldn't feel anything for him, so she faked it because she IS a real actress. It's away to rub it in his face.
im here because of south park.
What movie is this from!!!! I love this song
Chorus line
Lol today I wrote an exam about that
So.... how much of this movie is these extremely talented dancers standing passively on a line watching a solo number where another talented dancer doesn't dance, but sings? Watching the initial scenes, that's not what I thought this movie would be... I mean, at least they could have come up with a dance sequence as part of the song....
@snerkful "The year of the Chicken"
One of the few parts I disn’t get Mpls Mn. John Command Jazz Instructior.
Yep... this show only got better
Woo we're doing this as part of our school musical (Its a mixture of loads of musicals) and the girl that's doing it, my GOD she's amazing! Like way better than this person here :D
whats her name?
Thumbs up if South Park got you here :D Btw, the episode were W.T.F
Which episode was it?
went to church dining santa maria
Is it though? What they did would be considered parody, which is protected under the law. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
why'd she cry exactly? i mean if she felt nothing.
Theya Havranek she was crying because she didn't feel anything when she heard the teacher died. The way he treated her caused her to lose all sympathy for him.
does anyone else think shes lip sinking? it looks like shes trying harder to talk than to sing, or atleast trying way to hard to both of them
Musicals they usually dub the music first then play it back while they perform it.
allieandfluff in making a musical they rarely sing on set. They recorded in the studio then lip sync as they film. Hard to get good sound and the actors voice can tire after 10-20 takes. But it is her own singing
@famemmonsterX3 u must be listening to a different person
I don't understand the ending. Does she not care that Karp died? If so, why does she look so sad?
theminutepast she does cares that Mr. Carp died. You can see it in her explanation. He may have been tough on her but she still misses him and now she knows why. very sweet 😢
Citrine 13 She didnt miss him. But she still felt guilty about not feeling bad
forget how she looked. She cried bec she felt nothing when she was supposed to feel something.
She was upset/guilty that she could not feel sympathy for Mr. Carp's death. She felt like there must be something wrong with her.
I felt the same way when someone died
The director relies on reaction shots too often in this movie. The cutaways to other performers smiling (phony theater smiles) is really annoying.
Probably the last really good movie that was ever made.
@hateleyfan123 so, parody is illegal now?
This song is one of my favorites, but I don't like what she's wearing
@wickedObsessed22 I hope you can sing better than you can spell
Jesus her eyes are dead I thought they were painted on
Noa Rodriguez Noguerol apparently her soul wasn’t deep enough.
I'm sorry but this version is very...... Underwhelming.
Too tough for my taste.
Nah the musical version is soooo much better this chick has no emotion
I find this version more natural, in terms of speed and story-telling.
Lauren Coates AGREE, the musical is SO much better ❤️❤️
Acting in theater is different from acting in film.

Compared to the actual musical this movie is a piece of shit!
MusicLoversDream94 I like the fact this girl sounds actually how her character from San Juan would sound
Julian Rodriguez YEP, TOTALLY AGREE (even people from the OBC said they Hated the movie)
Very rarely will a film even come close to theater production
acheidinah.blogspot.com/2018/07/blog-post_6.html
Meh. Not really feeling it.
eww that is the most unattractive outfit.
love this song though!
love this song but this performance is just meh... bleh.... And to think I expected a lot....
These orchestrations are so utterly awful No wonder this is the biggest flop of a Broadway musical to the screen of all time. This Diana Morales is horrific.
1: Bad acting.
2: Bad singing.
3: Bad background instrumentals.
“Tell me about it” is probably one of the worst ways to introduce a song. The movie butchered the musical.
her voice is dubbed... look closely to the singing and her lips
Michael Douglas is a very weak actor. His FATHER... was FANTASTIC!
