unique symbol for that country, every country has its own National Animal. It is used by a unifying image of the nation in front of the world. The National Animal is selected carefully considering their ecology, tradition, culture, Mythology, etc.
National Animals are more than just convenient symbols to put on stamps, currency, flags, or other official emblems.

Well, in Hungary we have turul and miracle deer, and both are mythical.
In Brazil our representative animal was once a wyvern (during the monarchy). He was on our coat of arms, on the imperial throne and on the imperial scepter.
That was until the coup d'état that ended the monarchical era. Today we do not have, officially (either by constitution or presence on the coat of arms) a representative animal.
