Tropical Depression 2 forms in Atlantic, likely to become first 2024 hurricane

- The National Hurricane Center says a low-pressure system about 1,225 miles east-southeast of Barbados, which forecasters designated as Invest 95L, has been upgraded to a tropical depression. The NHC estimates a 100% likelihood that this depression will develop into a tropical cyclone within the next 48 hours and will be named Tropical Storm Beryl.

@@sandeegrey5977 I’m thinking this becomes at least a category 1 hurricane crossing the lesser Antilles into the eastern Caribbean before weakening back into a tropical storm as it impacts Mexico or Jamaica and the Dominican Republic, subsequently getting shredded apart from the high elevations of those islands if the latter scenario occurs.
