I really appreciate that you have visited the north, in general we are an under-flown region, the centralism of the republic makes people believe in the colective imaginary that we Northerners have no cultural value or history, just because we do not have hundreds of dancers with costumes of thousands of colors or we do not have millions of indigenous customs .. We are as Mexican as those from the south and we have nothing to do with the Aztecs nor do we want to. We have our customs, our way of doing things, our accent and, of course, interesting places and nature despite the fact that they are not tropical beaches that everyone by force relates to Mexico.🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽
Amigo. Comment of the century. You just described it perfectly. Even though I'm not Mexican, I know exactly what you mean. I can't possibly add to what you said. BRILLIANT!

I'm a gringo and my wife is from Torreon, I'm glad you appreciate Torreon as much as I do. I'm glad you made it safe to Serbia and I would love to hear about traveling in these covid times.
That's great friend, I'm from Torreón, I was born and I grew up here, we love our city very much, and we love the Comarca Lagunera in general, Viva Torreón and Viva La Laguna, hopefully it can be a single state, that is something we have been looking for decades.
I've see the video several times, especially the part of Teatro Isauro Martinez, and I just realized that the volume of our voices, the music you used and the light inside gave a kind of mystic atmosphere, like when you go to a church, old battlefield or a graveyard, like being small and the need to be as quiet as possible. I really loved it. To other people, there's a part in the video where I'm talking to David and I'm telling him about the different cultures that came to Torreon and that are part of the theater.
hey man, the book you gave me may be making a symbolic appearance in my next video... watch this space! Thanks again for the tour, it was awesome! (I think I am now a theatre geek jaja)

¡Hola Adriana! ¡HILARISTICO! Me encanta. I really like your humor David and I find british and mexican humor are really alike, like sarcasm and black humor !
sarcasm rules! Yes I will most likely be back in Mexico next year but not for 6 months this time jaja, I'm not sure when though as it depends on a few things like Polish citizenship and whether I have a cat or not. Like you say I think I'll avoid the summer this time lol
@@davidostrowski679 Yes hopefully you can come before May next year. Finn made videos here in Monterrey and it looks like he enjoyed the city. Good luck on your polish citizenship andhope tosee you soon in Monterrey and also next time around you can also visit both Bajas !
thanks! Saltillo has to be the number 1 recommended place from everyone jaja. I went through there on the bus in 2019 on the way to Monterrey but that was it. Maybe next time I'm in Mexico (probably 2022 some time)
it kind of sucks you didn't visit, the plaza del eco, which is quite beautiful. and it wasn't that far away from where you where moving around in the city.
What!! Sacrilege!! Harina no way!! Lol, I'm joking, variety is the spice of life. I have a joke about 'the tortilla line' somewhere north of Durango, where everything becomes harina. I've always been on the maiz team jaja
awesome thanks for the reminder I know this but you know what it's like when you're trying your best in a real-life situation lol. I remember asking someone about this a long time ago. Spanish is so much more specific than English. Of course in English 'time' would be used in terms of both time and when talking about number of occasions. In Spanish I always have to think deeper almost in terms of the root of the word. time - tempus is specifically time, sorry I'm a language and word etymology geek jaja
Seeing a British guy hanging out at La Alianza is 🤯 something I would have never expected to see hahaha. 10 years ago I would not even dare go there (those were tumultuous years, things have improved since then).
@@davidostrowski679 Quite a few shootings took place in that area back in 2007-2013. But violence has dropped since. However, the neighbourhoods surrounding it still have a certain "reputation" (Cerro de la Cruz, La Durangueña, San Joaquín, etcetera).
Good Luck.
Hi everyone! Firstly just a reminder that this video was FILMED on JULY 30th 2021 and uploaded on AUGUST 20th 2021. Since the filming date I have been in Mexico City, Madrid, and am now back in Belgrade, Serbia at time of upload. HOWEVER! There are still two videos from Mexico to come, from Lerdo and Iztapalapa! I hope you enjoyed the theatre! Obviously, due to poor lighting and video length, I couldn't simply just record Jorge speaking for the entire time we were there, so I have included a selection of shots where lighting and sound are acceptable (this is why I avoid filming in places like this such as museums!!). A HUGE thank you to both Jorge and his aunt (not on camera) for giving me the amazing opportunity to witness this theatre!! *Remember that SUBTITLES in SPANISH and ENGLISH are available!! Just select captions and choose the required language!* ¡Hola a todos!
…… buen viaje
Incredible work David! As a lagunera myself, I thank you for showcasing some of the beauty and charm of Torreon with the world. Indeed, we are a very diverse city and laguneros are friendly, welcoming and warm. Much love and light to you!
Effing pigeons, good aul' duct tape! Glad you were able to fix your drone. Potatoes make everything better, even gorditas. I'm biased - I'm Irish. Massive thanks to Jorge and his aunty for the exclusive access to the beautiful Teatro Isauro Martinez. Another brilliant and entertaining video!
Literally that whole place is where I used to live 4 months ago, the market in the beginning was the place I bought food, and the bus At the beginning that Said " Polvorera " is the bus I took to go home.
It looks like Torreon has a lot of potential for an interest place to visit, but also looks like they need to invest more on rehabilitation and cleaning of the city. That part of México is very different, it has it own sub culture, it's more similar to Monterrey which I don't think you've been to
I probably showed more of the less pretty areas, but to the north near the mosque that appears atr the end, it's very affluent (almost like a Polanco in CDMX). I thought Torreon was pretty clean, then again I'm from West London so anywhere would be clean compared to there lol
We need to get Coahuila and Durango's attention for public investment. They'd rather throw all their (our) money in our "dear" state capitals and we just get the leftovers.
the chinese people in Mexico came from the USA, they were working in the construction of the USA rail road that ended in San Francisco (Thats why the big chinatown in SF) and after they finished they sent them to Mexico because it was to expensive to send them back to China
Excellente video carnal!! RIP pigeon. The theatre tour was something else!! Agree about the food of the north being far superior than the rest of the country; (many won’t understand this because they’ll never leave their safe havens of Queretaro or Vallarta 😅).
Will l be able to get authentic Northern food in Cancun? I hear that Cancun is the true Mexico experience, culture, food, language the full experience in an all inclusive 7 day package👍
I love Teatro Isauro Mtz., Where you going next?, to the Sand dunes of Bilbao near Torreón? or to Parras de la Fuente, where the best and most antique winery in all American continent is?
I left Torreón about 3 weeks ago amigo, I'm in Serbia now. The next video is from Lerdo. Unfortunately Viesca/Bilbao and Parras were not possible due to work and the infrequency of buses! I did all the research and it was all ready to go but instead I did the Matamoros video as it was just simpler to get to. Next time!

sarcasm rules!
Nice video! you should visit Saltillo one day. I advise visiting in January and you may catch some snow.
I did but on a different day, I used to walk through there on the way to Starbucks
Arguably the best food in Mexico? Who said that?
I did. You know what arguably means right. I've been to 20 states and enjoyed both Coahuila and Durango food the most.
Are u back dude ? Well welcome back 2 3rd World!
Haha no i left Mexico a few weeks ago. This was filmed in July
Is the biggest city in Coahuila Mexico state !!
¿Visitarás Baja California algún día?
¡Un día! ¡No sé cuándo!

Gorditas are better made out of harina, well, at least for me. Next time, if you haven't tried harina order them that way. :) Great video!
What!! Sacrilege!! Harina no way!! Lol, I'm joking, variety is the spice of life. I have a joke about 'the tortilla line' somewhere north of Durango, where everything becomes harina. I've always been on the maiz team jaja
@@davidostrowski679 Sounds fair, maíz is way healthier anyways lol
Second time (in torreon)= segunda vez.
awesome thanks for the reminder I know this but you know what it's like when you're trying your best in a real-life situation lol.
@@davidostrowski679 I'm pretty sure they understood what you meant.
Me hubiera dicho
Your next travel to Mexico visit Baja California
It's always been on the list amigo, along with Veracruz and Michaocan!
Visten la quinta Kasumi
Torreón is a place for romance for you!
Absolutely, and the teatro was the icing on the cake!
It's Isauro not Isuaro! Don't get mad, just giving the right name :D
I know lol, I did a typo with the graphic lol
*Isauro
Yes I know that's what the title says. The graphic is a typo. It happens
Thanks for sharing northern Mexico. I've enjoyed seeing their food and culture and people.
Seeing a British guy hanging out at La Alianza is 🤯 something I would have never expected to see hahaha. 10 years ago I would not even dare go there (those were tumultuous years, things have improved since then).
Omg I didn't realise it had a reputation lol
Just select captions and choose the required language!*
…… buen viaje
👍🏻🥰🙏🏻
Incredible work David! As a lagunera myself, I thank you for showcasing some of the beauty and charm of Torreon with the world. Indeed, we are a very diverse city and laguneros are friendly, welcoming and warm. Much love and light to you!
thanks Marisa! I miss Torreon a lot!
Potatoes are life!!
You can’t tell me you don’t miss those gorditias. 🤤
ok you got me there hun!
I love that u live my city torreón, I feel u so happy n relax at my city.
Greetings from NYC.
Oh God, I crying when i remember the City was I born, the people, the streets... Someday, someday I will return....
@@davidostrowski679 😂
We need to get Coahuila and Durango's attention for public investment. They'd rather throw all their (our) money in our "dear" state capitals and we just get the leftovers.

Excellente video carnal!! RIP pigeon. The theatre tour was something else!! Agree about the food of the north being far superior than the rest of the country; (many won’t understand this because they’ll never leave their safe havens of Queretaro or Vallarta 😅).
Exactly amigohun. When I was back in CDMX I couldn't bring myself to eat anything. It just doesn't compare to Northern food! FAR SUPERIOR
My fave food is from Tierra Caliente in the south.
@@thejectorproject ow!? Where is this? I’ll have to try so I can compare 😃

Gracias!! Saludo tes!!!

How good that you could see Isauro Martínez in all its splendor, it is a jewel of the lagoon, thank you!
I like your videos about north of Mexico, because foreigners don’t travel much in that region, I’m greatful to you.
Woow I love the theatre Isauro M
I love Teatro Isauro Mtz., Where you going next?, to the Sand dunes of Bilbao near Torreón? or to Parras de la Fuente, where the best and most antique winery in all American continent is?
I left Torreón about 3 weeks ago amigo, I'm in Serbia now. The next video is from Lerdo. Unfortunately Viesca/Bilbao and Parras were not possible due to work and the infrequency of buses! I did all the research and it was all ready to go but instead I did the Matamoros video as it was just simpler to get to. Next time!
