I'm pregnant, so when I come across this recipe I was so tempted to try it. I have done as you told in pot vessel at night and had it for tomorrow's lunch. It was awesome and thanks for yummy tummy.
In those days, when money was not so easy to come by, appalam vathha kuzhambu was a typical "maasa kadasi" dish. Paruppu stock ille, vegetables very little at home...that kind of stage. Like you mentioned, my paati did not add onion, tomato to this dish. Garlic was never used at home. So it was a plain appalam vathha kuzhambu. Devamrutham only! 😋

I have to try this item once after delivery sir.. now am 9 months pregnant with ulcer so avoiding tamarind based foods as of now. I still remember my great grand mother doing this Applam Kuzambu. But in her recipe, she does not fry the applams but use it as it is. We used to make applams at home and as usual no sign of onion and garlic. But it is always devamrutham in taste.

I still remember my great grand mother doing this Applam Kuzambu. But in her recipe, she does not fry the applams but use it as it is. We used to make applams at home and as usual no sign of onion and garlic. But it is always devamrutham in taste.
