  • Plastic has become a way of life. It seems almost impossible to avoid plastic, Unfortunately, people do not use plastic responsibly, and most of it ends up in our oceans killing over 100,000 marine animals each year. With many solutions available, uninformed people will continue using plastic. With time, plastic will accumulate, eventually causing irreversible damage to the ecosystem.

Thank you. This documentary has gotten me thinking about how I can act locally to create awareness to start reducing the use of plastic. I live in the Pacific (Port Moresby) and the effects of plastic pollution is evidently everywhere. There are storm drains currently filled with plastic bags and that's where I'll start with clean up. Getting the community support is vital.

Thankyou for making this Documentary. Attending beach clean ups is educational and gives you a first hand look at how and why it is so important to recycle and find other choices of product that are safer for our environment and planet. Say no to Straws "No Sucking" and do not use Single Use Plastic. There are so many amazing products on the market that are better for our Ocean's. Love your Sea Life and let's all do our part to protect our Oceans and Planet.

I use reusable water containers made of metal I have about 8 of them I fill them all sometimes to go camping etc. Sometimes when I leave I freeze a few and use them in the cooler as ice. We can do better if we try. 👍😎

This is really sad, and since the animal biodiversity is decreasing, the weather is warming, Covid-19, and any more much more, like the world like war and greed. It is very depressing to all of us sometimes you just feel depressed and think why are there so many bad things in the world, well this question is a challenging and interesting question. Also, Thanks for making this video; it was a lot of help to my essay and was kind of made by students like me! Nature does not need plastic! Huge companies should be aware! People should do the three Rs, Recycle, Reuse, Reduce!!!

We can do better if we try. 👍😎. They have paid for themselves many times over 🤔

Well done, good job, sister. I do understand the caring nature of women. We really need to know this. Act soon. I live in India, in a region where the river meets the sea after 300miles. I personally have reduced much of my plastic usage by more than 50%, I have banned certain plastic products in my home, especially packaging and packaged products, some toys and utensils, no packaged water, etc. But I'm still stuck with use of diapers. I now feel the lack of support a large sized family could have offered me by tending to my babies at times, in this age. We need more kind hearted people oh! population isn't the problem, it's irreversible, irresponsible pollution. I have been taking measures in my personal life since more than 15yrs now. Pray that GOD guide and help us with our ventures and protect all of His creatures. We are on the verge of failing the test of life of this world.

i think we are about 50 years behind where we should be the key is education to solving this problem to many people look
at it as to much trouble to do the right thing i think there should be recycle fee attached to everything we consume so that
it does not end up in our waters and i would do away with the styrofoam opting for some other type of packing material

Why is it that we can't just clean up this garbage island?
Why wouldn't federal assistance be available?
This is so detrimental to the planets future.
    I don't get why it's so hard.

The video is concise and very insightful, explaining the situation of plastic pollution in our world, it's great that it gives some hope for the future as there are still lots of people who care deeply for the environment and for all living creatures. It's definitely a responsibility of each and every one of us to do the best we can. But as I watch modern documentaries on ecology, my heart breaks… I can only imagine how painful it is for God to see all of this… All living things that he created with great love are suffering... We forgot about the responsibility we all bear, corporations blatantly ignore the cries of millions of humans and other living creatures on the face of the Earth. But I know one thing - God will not endure it without end, he will stop those who destroy the earth (Revelation 11:18), - and the further we go, the more we can see that there is actually no other way around this crucial issue, as, unfortunately, humanity in general, lacks free will to do what’s good, to sacrifice for the sake of the future, - and it's the Creator who will renew justice by restoring Paradise conditions, as it was in the very beginning (Psalm 37:2, Matthew 5:5). And as I see how events unfold in accordance with the Bible prophecies, my belief that a better world is getting closer and pretty soon things will change for much better on an unimaginable scale is getting stronger: www.jw.org/finder?wtlocale=E&issue=2021-05&pub=wp21&srcid=share.

Probably best to start at the source - the producers of plastic & force them to change their ways rather shifting the burden to the consumers & governments (who are generally all bought & paid for by those same producers & corporations)...sadly, though, if there's profit involved, nothing will fundamentally change. We're slowly killing ourselves & most seem not to realize or care.

the obvious question is how does all this plastic get into the oceans in the first place? Not nets - that's obvious - but all the rest. Its said that it washes down from lakes & streams - but I doubt it - the quantities and types of plastic dont add up. There's too much of it for that.
Its much more likely that some irresponsible private waste disposal folks are dumping bargefuls of this stuff into the deep oceans rather than paying to bury or recycle it - just think - what would YOU do to make money ? Most likely the Chinese, Indians or both (or any unregulated countries with a coastline) are dumping it at sea - knowing that they will never be caught - and its Free ! Are there any such studies ?

Re-useable bags are offered all over the United States, but most prefer the convenience of buying single use. Especially with Corona virus; stores are not letting
People bring in their re-useable bags. Instead, they’re told to bag outside in their car. Or at least where I live.
