- The Intriguing Story of when a political coup made ICC - break from their colonial cricket roots, India Challenging England for the crown of Cricket
The Veto that had been established in 1909 by the MCC that was put in place to make sure the powers of the British empire remained untouched, through chiefly their main colonies of Australia & South Africa
But it would come under fire in 1982
As India along with Pakistan and Sri Lanka challenged England for hosting the 1996 world cup
Put in play was a brilliant political move from South Africa
That had rejoined Cricket after the abolishing of Apartheid rules
And asked for more democracy
It was followed by tremendous strategic masterstroke by the 3 Asian countries to put it into vote
Making sure that their financial bid would take all associate countries to their side.
But a vote change in 1989 meant
That even if Australia had used that exact same tactic to win the 1992 world cup hosting bid
India could not do so
Needing a 2/3rd majority of full members
Along with the support of a founding members
And that led to a grueling 13 hour long meeting
That was as volatile as it was fractious as it could be
Where tempers ran high and both sides lobbed accusations at each other
Where the minutiae of law, ethics, morale and the very soul of the gentleman's game was called into question
From involving the chief justice of a supreme court
To involving the media into the war
From blames of bribery to slipperiness
To straight up hypocrisy, irony and double standards with which the mainly white countries ran the global organization
To even the scandals and controversies that erupted when both sides blamed each other for the security, standard and even their long suffering history
Ultimately causing ICC
The imperial cricket Conference
Which later became the international cricket council
To be changed forever
This story is about the 6 months period when the old world with its antiquated rules was completely dethroned
Giving rise to a new power
Which in future was to be the center of cricket
This is the story of when Jagmohan Dalmiya, IS Bindra, and Scindia
All of them future BCCI presidents and ICC chairman
In combination with Imran khan, The Pakistani world cup winning captain
Future Pakistani PM and the representative of PCB
Along with Neil Parerra the Sri Lankan cricket board prudent
brought the ICC to its knees
This is the story of when Cricket was changed
Forever.

Its so nice to know that it was a Sri Lankan that had the guts & bravery that revolutionized not just Asian cricket, but world cricket & actually brought together India & Pakistan together under a united goal.
After election, you also posted a video about democaracy 😂😂
Can't wait to see how England was once again scummy to treat Sri Lanka like that
Please do make a video on it
Please make a video of how India saved SL Cricket & what controversies surrounding ICC happened after Veto was abolished
Eagerly waiting for ur videos pls upload more frequently
Yes bro I am still waiting bhai
Lmao I knew a Sri Lankan was behind all this commotion lol. Perera un ironically really changed cricket forever I think all non UK/AUS players (so vast majority of the sport's followers) and fans should appreciate him.
And then bcci became a dictator 😂
It’s funny how often this happens throughout the history.
After being looked down upon and being humiliated time and time again they became the king
@@Shadow-no1yl Now BCCI is behaving like how England behaved in 80s.
There is no democracy in ICC.
Now ICC = BCCI
Bas yahi bolke rand! Rona krte rehna tum log
Yep, embodying the McMahonisms into Cricket.
Man, could you please speak a bit more clearly? It is so hard to follow your muffled audio at various times throughout the video. Although you might be reading a script, but you can focus on your emphasis and intonations more. Just my 2 cents. No hate.
Constructive criticism...I agree its hard to follow when the narrator doesnt speak in a fixed pitch for the entire duration of the video
Its true. Narration should be more smooth.
Try X 0.75 playback speed... Really
Narrations of previous videos were great. This one looks completely off. Content is great as usual.

Brother your videos are bangers! All of them. Don't even ask about making more videos just make them! Seriously man, i love your videos...
Another brilliant video. I am getting to learn so much about Indian Cricketing History. Thank you so much! And yes, waiting for that next video :)
This is spicy! Longer episodes boss!
I've been waiting so long for another Cricket Raaz episode! I know you already made a video about the 2021 BGT, but please can you make one more longer full story video about the heroics of the 2021 BGT and the Gabba Test
Looks like u cant have enough of the test match we won vs aus
no
This video shows that politicians running the game is not necessarily a bad thing as everyone believes. Those guys know best how to handle this diplomatic stuff and get their way, make a coalition with other boards for a show of strength etc.
And yet these days Eng/Aus ex-players have the audacity to question how BCCI=ICC is becoming a thing... Its just compensation
Amazing, waiting for the next video on this saga
It would great if you mention some source links in the description for further reading. Great Video :)
Yes we WANT to know about more interesting stories. We WANT to experience these moments with your storytelling skills. Please make them as soon as you can possibly do...
Waited for your video ...ur my inspiration to start youtube channel🙌❤️
Hey man can u make a video about pakistan downfall? Or a video about the 2005 ashes? Love ur videos
Nah pak downfall was 2014-2016. They got a couple of good years after that but never became consistent apart from 2022. The current one is just a bad patch imo
@@twistedpanda1143clearly you are not following Pakistan cricket news. It’s been going down since Ramiz raja. It has a lot to do with political stability.
Excellent video
The only channel whose new episode i wait for
yeh how India came to rescue Sri Lanka ??? ❤👍
Pls do make a video abt India saving Srilanka...i really want to know abt it ... especially from you! Just cuz your videos and the way you narrate is just sooo amazing !
I also want to know more abt cricket history so i would love if you made the video
Thank you. Wonderful back story. ❤
please make a video on big 3
Great video!
Please make a video on how, after 2007 ODI WC failure, the BCCI + coaches + Selectors + Captain + team strategies changed the fortunes, and we ended up getting such a dynamic and young team ready to win the 2011 World cup.
Seven players from the Squad for 2007 WC were replaced for the 2011 WC
1. Rahul Dravid = Virat Kohli
2. Sourav Ganguly = Gautam Gambhir
3. Dinesh Karthik = Yusuf Pathan
4. Robin Uthappa = Suresh Raina
5. Irfan Pathan = Ashish Nehra
6. Ajit Agarkar = Piyush Chawla
7. Anil Kumble = Ravichandran Ashwin
The players who were retained from the 2007 WC squad for the 2011 WC Squad were
1. Sachin Tendulkar
2. MS Dhoni
3. Virender Sehwag
4. Yuvraj Singh
5. Harbhajan Singh
6. Munaf Patel
7. Sreesanth
8. Zaheer Khan
In one of your earlier videos, you had explained that, in a 3 way competition between Raina, Kohli and Rohit for the middle order batter slot, Rohit had missed out. Similarly, how did Indian cricket end up discovering those 7 new faces, assign them specific roles in the ODI setup, give them a long enough run to test them, and finally select only those new faces who have done well in the interim period.
The journey and revolution of England from 2015 to 2019 is very much well documented. I feel India also did something similar, it was a huge innovation and revolution for the Indian ODI team between a disastrous WC and a successful WC.
Please make a video on the journey of the Indian team between those two world cups
ahh the last line, "Nation made it so not that history deemed it so"
Would love to hear about how India saved SL Cricket & what controversies after the veto was abolished
Good work sir
Keep positive love this Channel ❤❤❤❤
3:58 its pcb not bccp
It used to be called BCCP before 1994. In January 1994, they changed their name to PCB.
Cricket would never be of the same level as it is today if England still controlled cricket.
would love to see that but sorry to say, sometimes your speech becomes too fast. Can you please do something about it?
Please make video on Sri Lanka topic
What about wtc final matches???😮
Please continue making such videos
How about do a video on the current cricket administration? India has become a worse monster than what England were.
You should explain how is it worse ? Clearly the game is expanding. Associate teams defeating big teams is a proof of that.
still better than what england was tbh. English people are some of the most arrogant people and that reflects in the past incidents.
No, England and Australia were far worse
BCCI is undoubtedly the most powerful cricketing nation with a lot of influence and tons of monies.. but that doesn't equate corruption.. also, the other nations wont be a sitting duck to such corruption as they will end up losing an opportunity to become powerful. jealous much ???
@@ResearchReallyand also the fan follow increase there fans tends to come to stadium to support there team. Example Netherlands vs SA match there were a fair ammount Dutch supporter there
wake up babe cricket raaz dropped a new video
I love your videos. It’s hard to follow. your speaking is muddled and hard to understand.
Your videos are the best ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Unfortunately now cricket has become a monopoly of bcci, the organization which played it's part in making cricket democratic is now responsible for it's downfall
What downfall? Bcci help cricket board like Afghanistan, Nepal to grow as a result Afghanistan qualified for sf and Nepal was competetive in this wc and also other associate nation was competetive including usa Scotland in this wc and icc's most of the fund come of from bcci which now distribute among associate nation well atleast compared to past. Listen u can't be democratic with non democratic organisation or person if u r not dictator then other will replace and be a dictator it's a fact so better for u to get off from lolipoichu world.
Where's the downfall??? Cricket is still growing and growing.. go and check how many new leagues have started.. even small nations have started playing cricket... !
Next part of this video please
Cricket is a business model..And one of the modern 'God' of the world.
Good Research!
Agree or not India produces the best politicians in the world.
Dear Sir , please make the Hindi version as done above ❤️🙏
@cricket-gully we want hindi version of this video and English version of kxip downfall in 2015 IPL
any chance you narrate without a sing-song cadence? it feels like I'm listening to a bollywood song instead of great bit of cricket information. Other than that keep up the good work
Very Interesting! Now the boycott of Sri Lanka, please!
Please make video on Sri Lanka topic you mentioned
Saw the title "Cricket became a Democracy" and thought bro is going to talk about some fantasy
From then to India dictating cricket to ipl money to pitch tampering to reducing teams in major icc events in fear of smaller teams knocking out bigger teams
to ruining domestic cricket across the world to match fixing to using icc events as a political tool to becoming the most hated cricket nation.
But hey everything is good
Ah yes, the T20 revolution-because who needs the rich tapestry of Test cricket when you can have the fast food version of the sport? It's wonderful that we now get to see 20 teams at the World Cup. Who cares about the quality of cricket when you can have quantity, right?
And sure, the United States beating Pakistan is definitely a testament to the success of T20 leagues, not at all a sign of the sport becoming a circus where anything can happen in a couple of hours. I mean, who wouldn't prefer watching a game that can be decided by a single over rather than the intricate, strategic beauty of a five-day Test?
And let's give a standing ovation to the BCCI for their magnanimous efforts in promoting cricket in Nepal. Forget that their main focus is on a cash cow called the IPL, which of course, if it had been started by Australia or England, would have been hailed as the "Second Coming of Cricket." Too bad their own leagues didn't quite hit the jackpot-clearly, they were just not visionary enough.
Change is indeed constant, and thank goodness for T20. Otherwise, we might still be stuck with those tedious matches where skill, patience, and strategy were actually required. How boring that would be!
Who knew cricket needed flashing lights, cheerleaders, and a three-hour commercial break every inning to survive? Apparently, the timeless battle between bat and ball just wasn't cutting it anymore. Maybe next, we can replace the wickets with piñatas for even more excitement!
World Cup video laawo.
Sir ji, pls make a video on Rohit's 91 against Aussie...
Bro can you do just one video about how Mohammad azharuddin did the fixing
1:33 and... USA/Ireland... the US was a significant cricketing nation at the time and so was Ireland... but since both did not aknowledge British supremacy...
Never knew about this thank you
man your inflections and speech cadence, espescially on the ends of words is soo odd that it distracts from the content...
What about big 3. 😅😅 democracy bcci
please do the video on SL and India
Sri Lanka saved India video
Today: entire World Cricket is under the foot of BCCI and Jay Shah😂
I think Australia would also take advantage all this. I would love to know how they played in this battle field.
Please make a video on lanka topic
And in the 2010s BCCI made cricket a dictatorship
Let's do the Lalit video. Good luck
I wonder if your narration style turning a lot of potential viewers away.
In a democratic process no one is more equal than others
i would want to see the video where india saved sri lanka from the rest of the world
"BIG 3" concept also same as old one.
Waiting for the new story
You should have a Netflix series
Please be consistent un video making
Next video please
Please dubbed this episode in hindi too
JA Scindia (the son) just looks like his dad MR Scindia!
Ind vs pak please
इसका हिंदी वीडियो क्यों नहीं है हिंदी वाले चैनल में
BCCI rules cricket, yet Australia is the more successful than entire Asia.their population is less than aspiring cricketers in Asia.what is the use of all this power?
It shows that cricket is still a fair game... BCCI is strongest cricket board and still we won a WC after 13 years.. it shows that BCCI is not fixing matches and tournaments.. if they had done something like that.. India would have more than just 2 odi and 2 t20 wc !
Yes I wannna know
Of coz please make it
I would like the sri lanka video
Bro post a video
BCCI helped in liberating cricket from imperialism and then became the dictator of cricket 😂
Pakistan lost here too? Humiliation is every step of the way.
For me the cricket died when T20 Leagues took over the actual cricket. Bring back the days of Tri-Series and Sharjah Cup.
Cricket is not dying but expanding. You might be the old school cricket fan who loves ODI and Test but understand this "Change is the only Constant', without T20 and leagues cricket will not change and without change it will not expand and will die. Back in the days it was just a game with 3 main teams Aus Eng and SA and when SA got banned WI took that place rest were just minnows but what happened in 1983,1992 & 1996 changed the cricket and its landscape now you are witnessing a 20 team World Cup with USA defeating Pakistan AFG outperforming NZ. That only happened due to T20 and League because these Associate nations players play all over the world in diff leagues adapting to those conditions. Still They say BCCI is killing cricket when back in the days Aus Denied to play SL and ENG denied to play Zim and nowadays Australia is busy in finding excuses to not play with AFG while BCCI is encouraging cricket in Nepal. Main problem is that the Idea of IPL emergered in India rather than Aus or Eng otherwise they would've termed it as "Revolution" and while they started their own league which did'nt succeeded as much.
saying like ppl who says we had democracy when lalu and cpm was running bengal and bihar , and we miss ballot paper
