i did this for my birthday in 2022 and left the cake on a shelf (cool temperature) for several months without it molding at all hahaha. the food coloring did fade where the sun hit it though, so i would just be careful about that!
I hope you respond! I have a mice problem, I’d love to make a decoy cake for myself since I turn 20 this year but I worry that using the buttercream will make them ruin it. Any suggestions for pastes or putty or something that I can use instead of actual buttercream? Or maybe even just an idea of how to store it to keep them away?

Try using spackle.
