Yeah, the parody songs are probably the best they have done for an honest trailer. Especially "The Circle of Life" had me cry laughing 😂.
"Yeah, you and I are gonna get it on, Brother!" Pitch Meeting all the way.
"Oh just get me in a room with your weirdest animator and I'll tell him EXACTLY how it should look" hahaha the creepier writer guy gets the funnier the pitch meetings are lol
This was a tough one. I really liked the Frozen comparison from Honest Trailer. Ryan was on his A game.
Who am I kidding… Ryan always wins.
“And Kimba the white lion (seriously look it up)”
-LOL
I don't know how those unsubstantiated UA-cam claims survive so long when the claims made were easily verifiably false (assuming one has patience enough to watch a couple episodes.) And given the quality of Honest Trailers, I find it pretty astounding they also failed in this aspect. Knowing this, I laughed a bit harder than I'm sure they intended.
@@dinchild1755 yeah after watching YMS watch literally everything pertaining to Kimba and PROVING it’s falsehood makes me cringe when anyone compares LK to Kimba. (Especially when a lot of arguments from Kimba fans take stuff from the 1997 movie, even though lion king came out in 1994…hmmm suspicious)
@@klblythe eh.....several of writers of the Lion king admitted to watching the Kimba cartoon in 80's, and did say that it's not impossible that those experiences could've impacted their writing to point of resulting in some similarities, albeit none conscious or intentional.
it was simply complete coincidence that Disney was approached about doing a Kimba movie 2 years before development on the Lion King started that ended up not going anywhere, and that Simba's name was originally Kimba and he was a white lion in early drafts of the Lion King.
The Joke about the Scar Placement is one of my all time favourites by Ryan
Ryan with the incest jokes won it for me.
Simba:' Oh I just wait to beep my cousin or my sister'.
It's the incest of life...later done in game of thrones..it's so familiar...you look just like your friend..till you realise oh beep..I also have webbed paws..it's the circle...the circle oh beep my life.
Mufasa:' Remember only the areas in the light are ours..including your cousins and sisters'.
Simba:' Oh boy I can't wait to know my family'.
Mufasa:'....Err yes know them '. ( coughs )( deliverance banjo music plays ).
You know, I have to give it to the Honest Trailer here! I was literally crying while laughing towards the end.
The creepy "yeah yeah yeah" got me. Had to pause the video for a minute 😂
The honest trailer is what made me look up that meaning of the word pork. I’d never heard it in that context before.
"REMEMBER WHO YOU ARE"!
Mike....You're Mike....
LOL
7:34, incidentally that’s actually deliberate on the part of the movie’s writers. Simba is being used as a foil for Scar inasmuch as each one wishes he were king since he sees it as just being able to do whatever he wants whenever he wants to whomever he wants and doesn’t understand the accompanying responsibilities. And even though Simba isn’t associating his kingship with his father’s death the way Scar is, if you compare his song “I can’t wait to be king” with Scar’s song “Be Prepared” they’re actually similar both in what they’re describing and a lot of the accompanying animation and iconography. That part wasn’t an accident
8:08, sadism. Scar delayed Simba’s death to maximize his suffering because he’s just that cruel and he inadvertently enables Simba’s escape by so doing. It’s actually foreshadowed earlier in the movie where Scar catches a mouse to eat but delays its death to gloat over it resulting in both the mouse’s escape and Zazu accusing Scar of playing with his food. That’s what that earlier scene was meant to set up
Honest Trailer really killed with those songs. :D Oh and Scar's nickname is nowhere as terrible as his real name given by his parents, which apparently translates to "Garbage", while Mufasa translates to "King".
Also, I know what they're singing. It's "Ingonyama nengw' enamabala" which apparently translates to something like "The lion and the leopard have stepped into this circle".
"We are gonna pork tonight".
I could not stop laughing
Dude, your idea to "compare" Honest Trailers and Pich Meetings is so good! Both are hilarious, and in my opinion, it's really fair to try to best one over the other, each one is so unique.
I gotta give this one to Honest Trailers. It’s one of my absolute favorites
4:05, when I looked it up I found that Simba was the Swahili word for lion and was therefore a stock name for lion characters since at least the 1960s and that most similarities that Kimba has to the Lion King were versions of Kimba made after The Lion King rather than being in the original Kimba.
LOL. Nice Toto reference. "I bless the rains down in Africa!" One of my favorite songs from them. 👌🏽
The Honest Trailer guys brought in the director of The Lion King and went over the Honest Trailer. it should be in the video directly after the Honest Trailer
“Ohh! It’s sound so peaceful. How does the music go?”
- Oh, it’s gonna go a little something like NNNAAAAA-!
“- aaaahhh!”
- Yeah, exactly! You know it?
“No, I don’t! And that sounded really aggressive. I couldn’t even understand what you were saying.
- I was saying: “Nants ingonyama bagithi baba”
“Oh, okay! It did sound a lot cooler when you just yelled it.”
- Yeah! I thought so!
OMG, The Lion King. The first time I was in a movie theatre. The first film I ever saw. The first film that made me cry. Oh, the memories.
🤣🤣🤣 this is so hard to pick!! The honest trailer really had me rolling on this one but I absolutely love Ryan so I don't know!!! Poooorkkk tonight!! Hahaha and the sister comment in the pitch got me!!
The pork song on this one was better than the Frozen one to me, lol!
Yea, I always wondered about that song:
"I just can't wait to be King"!
He does know for that to happen his dad has to die right?
I mean, with the exuberance he demonstrated in that song I half expected him to look at Mufasa's deceased body and be like:
"COOL, I'm like, KING now"!
Exactly!! I never actually thought about that until these videos, LOL!!!
Ooooh! Walking across a log for several years is TIGHT!
1:28, per the expanded material created after, it’s a nickname with his real name being the Swahili word for waste (which would make Scar a lot better). Within the film itself, it’s no stranger than Captain James Hook from Peter Pan being called that.
This was the first Honest Trailer I ev
There is also a version of this were Screen Junkies actually have the director for the movie on and they go through it, stopping here and there so he can comment.
That New Jersey line was hilarious.
I remember James Earl Jones' "This is CNN" when it first started (yes, I'm old)
For me this one is a slight edge for Honest Trailers. I loved the Pitch Meeting, but this is definitely one of the strongest HT for me.
Ok- I think this is the best HT I've seen so far. This was my first time really losing it laughing out loud! The songs actually made this hilarious this time. Also, I will say... as tragic as Mufasa and Bambi's mom's deaths were, to me, the sleeper tragic childhood film death is Little Foot's mom in Land Before Time! I just re-watched that a few weeks ago, and damn, that shit really got me! Lol. BUT- I don't know man, I don't think I can pick a winner this time, the PM was hilarious!
Potato, light bulb, guinea pig, judge!!! Hahahaha
Both were good!
Normally I always give it to Ryan straight away, but this Honest Trailer is SO damn good. 😂 This might be a tie.
It very funny the way ryan touched on it, but cats will absolutely and routinely mate with there siblings all the time, it's nothing out of the ordinary.
Have you ever watched the Lion King The Remakeboot video Mike? It's quite funny 😆.
@@OnMyMindEntertainment Oh nice! 😊 The Finding Nemo Remakeboot video is also really good/funny 😂.
Ryan and George have such excellent chemistry
Fun facts: Scar's actual name is 'Taka'. It's Swahili for 'waste'.
Also, in addition to a lot more fascist vibes (Scar basically turned the Prideland into a forced labor camp, and Nala had a little brother in there), there was originally a scene where he announced his intent to make an heir with Nala...With or without her consent. He brings in the hyenas then to enforce his rule and this would've sent her fleeing into the wilds where she finds Simba but they cut that story bit. They got the song recorded and a pretty good way into the sketching before it was dropped: ua-cam.com/video/zl8gDjaHWWA/v-deo.html
The whole movie was a lot darker before they pivoted. I wish they'd had the guts to make it that way.
This one is really the only one I can stand the songs from. Honest Trailers did fantastic LOL
Yeah, it was pretty good here. Not overly long. I think Aladdin was the worst for me so far.
Loved both 😂 HT slightly edges PM in this one
I hadn't seen the honest trailer for the lion king but I got surprised when I heard him mention Kimba the white lion.
You guys should really google that if you still haven't.
It was a Reveal of the aged when me and my friends saw a UA-cam video that details the origin and inspiration and ....... Plagiarism? of multiple Disney movies
If you were curious about the Kimba thing, I would recommend watching the YMS video on his analysis of that series and how different it is compared to Lion King (he’s working on a video of the awful live action remake and ended up creating a separate video tackling the Kimba to debunk the comparisons, which was a bigger video than he anticipated).
I definitely want to check those out. I knew about the Kimba rumblings.
@@OnMyMindEntertainment As far as his video goes, it's a very lengthy watch (he didn't realize how much Kimba content existed and he goes into those while debunking comparisons along the way). Definitely worth a watch with how tightly he edits that video.
So how did you like what I teased in previous videos?
“But don’t prides of lions only have like one or two males?”
- Yeah. What does that have to do with anything?
“Well that means that Nala‘s father is either Mufasa or Scar.
- Right. Yeah.
“So Simba & Nala are either half siblings or cousins.”
- EXACTLY
“Uuooh! You’re being weirdly OK with cat incest.”
- YEAH! YEAH! YEAH!
“Remind me to never hang out with you, okay?”
- i’ll do that.
🤣🤣
I think this one is a tie!! Both had their moments, and it is really amazing the way Ryan George's eyes look, especially in his glasses, when he says yeah yeah yeah! The comments writer guy makes about the relationship Nala and Kimba... I mean Simba, are hilarious!! What's the name of the first anime I watched...Kimba the White Lion is its name! Honest Trailers had really good harmonys and the lyrics were funny too. So... tie! These were lots of fun to watch! Thanks for bringing these to us!!
You know it Arthur!! I'm with ya, I was thinking a tie too. I actually liked all of the songs in this one for the Honest Trailer. Ryan of course kills it in the Pitch.
Probably my favorite HT.
The music at the end of the honest trailer may give it the edge
This is way too hard to chose because Honest Trailers was excellent, but Writer Guy was at his creepy best. If pressed, I'd have to give it to Honest Trailers by hair because this is one of their best. Writing and delivery about as tight as it can get in that format.
What I never see with reviewers who note the brother sister connection mention is once a male cub grows up he's chased off by the adult male. Most roam far from their original pride, occasionally teaming up with other young males. They may stay together when taking defeating an established male. They have to be on it and ready because one strong dominant established male can cow down three or four banded together, sometimes with roars and body language alone.. The females aren't slap toys either, in reality it's their pride.
There's an interesting video of a young male just at the point of being sent off challenging big daddy. Two or three females stand there watching intently while the dominant male really tears into him. It's nearly over for the newly grown one because he's tough enough to keep trying to win so he doesn't back down. He's bloodied and weakened but still staggers up to fight, barely able to stand. Just when big daddy rushes in to finish him off the females, fangs bared and claws ready back him off.
They knew when it was enough, he had to be tested. Fight over, the young male was ready to leave; and he'll be a top cat somewhere someday given the amount of fight he had in him. That's how inbreeding is avoided.
In the real order, Scar naturally would have been the pride's male. He would chase off Simba when he was old enough to survive but not yet able to beat him. Or he could have been defeated by a stronger incoming male who would have ended all the cubs to establish his line. Simba you got off easy in the long run. Typo edit.
When you think about it like that, that could've been a more engrossing way to go about the story. I would've wanted to see things play out that way. But what we got still works, lol!
@@OnMyMindEntertainment It does work. Those who grew up on these movies are now adult and an untapped source for new versions just for them. Disney has more than enough money, they're not one to pass up getting more and it would be a cash cow. Older teens and adult.... ka-ching.
Pitch Meeting wins again for me
I know the parody songs are sometimes an annoyance to you 🤭 ...but I die laughing at the wit behind changing the words to those over-done film songs. 😂😂
They are very creative, just sometimes a little too long. They were good here.
Real pitch meeting "Hey guys, I just saw this Japanese series called Kimba the White Lion.. let's do that but with Elton John songs."
“And then Simba and Nala are gonna roll around and she’s gonna give him this look like ‘Oh boy! You and I are gonna get it on, brother!’”
- It feels like it’s gonna be difficult to convey that expression on a cartoon animal, ‘though.
“Actually, super easy, barely an Inconvenience.”
- Oh really?
“Yeah. Just get me in a room with your weirdest animator and I’ll tell him EXACTLY how it should look!”
- Oh, I can’t wait for you to be out of my office, you weirdo!
😂🤣
The people at Disney thought that Pochacotas was gonna be more successful than The Lion King....look where we are now.
10:50, pitch meeting. Definitely pitch meeting
Okay, Emperor's New Groove, Atlantis, Treasure Planet, and Tarzan were all awesome, imo.
Nantsi ingonyama bakithi baba, is my language Xhosa. I'm from South Africa. Same language used in black panther btw. It means "Behold a lion" , "or here is a lion"
The fact that Simba's step sister and cousin gives him the do me eyes, makes it hard to watch it again
5:05, assuming that there were no other males banished from the pride aside from Scar who could conceivably have had their young. Which might be a fair thing to think about real lions but it’s not something that makes sense to assume in a cartoon
My fav Disney animated movie is Brother Bear
i like pitch meeting better
I dont know what the words really are
So true I hate when people just make up random nonsense to the tune of that song
Pitch Meeting, easily wins
Its very comparable to Hamlet...
Cuz thats what its based on, Black Panther might then be based off of the Lion King.
Which would explain the Xerox effect
I’m glad I’m not the only one who doesn’t love Frozen. The way you were like, errr no 😂 I watched it once, and that was enough lol
Omg Honest Trailer wins for me The new verses to those songs will be stuck in my head for life!
You should watch to "lion king director reacts to honest trailer".
Joseph Williams for the win!
(Matthew Broderick, not quite as much...)
I thought that Coco was the peak of Disney animation.......
"The Bad Voice" doesn't sound so bad when pair with a children's film. LOL
I absolutely loved the pitch meeting and have watched that one a couple of times but the parody songs were absolutely funny so I personally have to give it to honest trailers this time
My absolute love of weird al song in no way shape or form biased my opinion.
:)
It's funny Honest Trailers has like a third of the flicks in the Disney Renaissance in its "downfall" bit (Hercules and Tarzan? You serious?🤭🤦🏾♂️). The Jersey bit was uncalled for tho😅😒😐
Nick Mason of Mr Sunday Movies HATES the lion king. A reaction to the video where he explains why could be fun
Honest Trailer for the W
I voted against Lion King specifically because of the musical segment... way'da go people 👍😂😂😂😂
You should have added unnecessary censorship on this one. It's hilarious.
Pitch
Surprised in can you feel the live tonight ..due to things it wasn't called can you feel the incest tonight in honest trailers as simba and other one...are related...later done with rey and kylo ren.
Simbas a lion and supposed to be prideful right...but that's not something to be prideful of simba.
Simba to timone:' I can't help it I feel like I've known her my whole life..she's so familiar.
Timone:' ..That's because she's your sister or cousin'.
Somba:' I know right, that's why I'll make her feel the love tonight's ( Crickets play timone looks beat down )..
Timone:' ..You're not invited to my animated series'.
Honest trailer for pork, and my dad just died song
I actually never thought about the "I Just Can't Wait To Be King" song much until now
I’m sorry but I’m a little distracted by something: is your shirt ever gonna stop buffering? 😂
@@OnMyMindEntertainment lol! I find the best option is just refresh the page or in your case…
Love you reactions BTW. The pitch meetings are always my favorite
@@mjcaboose8036
I've reached out to tech support, but they've been no help, LOL!
Glad you're enjoying the reactions!
Just realized and have to comment on their video they have the balls to reference kung pow but not do an honest trailer
0:13 Is he trying to tell me that Atlantis, Emperor's New Groove, Hunchback of Notredame, Tarzan, Hercules and Treasure Planet are the downfall of Disney animation or am i missing something?
I don't believe they do the songs in Frozen 2
@@OnMyMindEntertainment Yeah when they were working on Frozen 2 honest trailer they were also doing two other musical ones (Mulan and Cats) and decided Frozen 2 wasn't worth the effort
Simba is a jerk 😂
If you want to kill the heir to the throne you probably wouldn't want to do that in the open for everybody to see. So you send him away and have your hyenas take care of it. Pretty straight forward.
- Why did they call him Scar?
- Cause he's got a scar on his face.
- Aww that's a little on the nose.
- Noooo it's a big one on his eye.
- Nevermind.
actually!! that's canon!! his original name was TAKA, but.. after a run in with a water buffalo, taka got a scar and he was called scar ever since
LOL!!!!!!
@@OnMyMindEntertainment btw... taka in swahili means waste
Ooooh! Being oblivious to metaphors is TIGHT!
@@ElMundoDeHadesOK that's actually better than the ridiculous origin they gave it at the Lion Guard series.
