Maybe two holes at back so it doesn't swing?

You're the real deal! Thank you for showing your blunders as well as educating and inspiring me!
A lot of these other UA-camrs try to make everything look so easy that it is actually frustrating to watch them! I relate to you! And it ended up being an awesome-looking project!

Laughed out loud at the 1” bit. I can relate too much.

I have wood putty and/or wood filler nearby at all times for inept moments. Of which I have many. Since the magnets are underneath, filling in that oopsie will make it nearly unnoticeable.
    Nice project!

Really enjoyed this build mate - and thoroughly enjoying the new way you're making your videos, quality has gone right up! Although I admit the way you made the circle on the table saw terrified me, think i'll stick to a router or jigsaw for that! Looking forward to the next video.

Thanks for watching! Fair enough with the table saw circle haha. I was a bit sketched out when I first started doing it but once I figured out the right amount of pressure to put on the wood so it wouldn’t move, I felt pretty confident while doing it

Love to gift to someone as holiday present.
Suggestion on how to personalize with their family name on shelve edge or along top half?
    Maybe circuit stickers it?

Great video and project. Love the mix of woods and the shape. Why didn’t John say something about the wrong bit before you used it. If it bothered you could you have run it back to the table saw and just brought the thickness down? Do you know if you have to be careful of what you put on the shelf that could be affected by magnets? A really high class look and thanks for sharing!

Agreed! John’s gotta pay closer attention to what I’m doing haha. We did get one other comment saying that leaving credit cards on the shelf could stop them from working so I guess we’ll see in a couple months if our cards stop working lol!

The circle cutting method is genius! By the way, what are you rubbing on for the finish? I am on an endless pursuit for "the right finish". I appreciate the authenticity of your video.

Ok.. not everyone is good at woodwork. Some people buy and think it's cheap... what I can make I don't buy. That's easy to make no need going to etsy to buy. It's less than 50$ to make.😢

While I appreciate the video, pls consider most folks don't have some special tools like a planer. Maybe provide alternative tools to accomplish same.

    • @FishOverChicksWoodworking
      @FishOverChicksWoodworking  7 днів тому +1

We understand that. all tools like a planer do is save you some time. you could get very similar results with heavy sanding. Hope this helps!

I agree seen a ton of these so it yourself videos from other creators and they almost always have an old piece of equipment that's not made anymore or is to expensive or large.

Use a sander or a hand planer......if you can cut them straight u can make one.🎉

Don't let your credit cards, discount, and your gift cards lay too long or too close to those magnets.
    Why? It'll mess them up!
