My husband died 2 years ago from covid. I got into making junk journals about 6 months ago and it gives me time to think about nothing else but just having time out and a way to relax. I have had a small shed built ( she shed ) in my garden solely for that purpose.....yes i'm very lucky to be able to do that. My husband was a biker and had motobikes so that would have been the theme i would have done for him. Love your videos and you're my go to channel for inspiration. Love from over the big pond. England in the UK xx p.s. this is a great journal you made.
This is fabulous! How fun! What a great theme for a guy. I've often thought of making my parents each a journal, and my mom would be easy, of course, but I've had the hardest time coming up with a theme for my dad. A treasure theme is just perfect! He's always been into antiques, and has probably hit every antique shop here in Oregon. But not only that, he would go metal detecting, and always learned the history of the places he would metal detect. If he was driving on some back road and came across an old house with lots of antiquey-type stuff around, he would go knock on the door and ask the owners if they would like to sit down and tell him their story. He became friends with so many old timers by doing that. There was never any desire to "get in good" with them for what they had, and would never accept anything had they offered it, he just loved hearing their stories and learning about the history of the area that can only come from the old timers who lived there. He also had boxes and boxes of treasure hunting magazines. I remember hearing about numerous lost treasure stories from these magazine - they were fascinating! One of them, I remember, was about a stage coach that was robbed here in Oregon, and the coins were buried beneath a tree where a saddle horn had been nailed to mark the location when they went to dig it up later. My dad took us kids on that treasure hunt since it was close by. We actually found the saddle horn that was nailed to the tree, but since it was private property, the "treasure" wasn't ours to dig up or keep. But it was super exciting nonetheless looking for, and possibly finding, that treasure. :)
You are such a joy! Thank you for just being real. I watch your channel because of that. Thank you. As you make me smile I know that I am not the only one. Just saying you are a blessing!!!
I love this journal! I have wanted to make my 5 year old granddaughter a treasure map but this journal has changed my mind. I'm going to make her a treasure journal and there will be hints and notes in it to guide her to the treasure. She lives on a few acres so it will be great fun. I even have the chest for the end. I have been saving my silver change ( not real silver of course). She will be 7 when its done which should be an age she will be able to remember the book and hunt. BTW I have the same chest of drawers from Hobby Lobby, everyone loves it. Thank you for your inspiration.
What a clever idea to put the story notes into this journal, Pam! I may try that some time; usually I leave my journals blank and I like this idea a lot. Thanks!
I watched and listened to your story, imagining it being told in a more serious, deeper toned way...more dramatic. Entranced until the final story was told and revealed. This is a treasure indeed.
This personal journal for your husband is amazing! I Iove the suspence of finding the treasure and the GOLD COIN! WHAT DID HE THINK? You are amazing Pam but i still can't figure out when you sleep! Tyfs!
Pam, this journal is the best ever! I loved the story! I am making a journal for my hubby but not sure of a theme yet. Hope whatever I do is as cool as yours! 🥰
Hi Pam! Wow, that was fascinating hearing the story behind the journal and how you researched the theme. I can see that it would take a great deal of time to do a theme journal, but at the end, you have your very own treasure. Love how both journals look worn and vintage. Thank you for sharing your love of journals.
Wow. You have inspired me to make one for my son who’s is 37. He loves history and old things. It never dawn on me to make him one till I saw this video. Thank you for the inspiration. Your work is awesome and love watching all your videos. Thank you.
What a fantastic idea your husband must love it. My husband favorite show is Oakland. You gave me a great idea. Thank you so much for sharing this, wonderful! 👧🏻
This journal in itself, with story you wrote within, is a treasure!! You have a wonderful imagination and this gives me inspiration in planning new journals!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

This journal tour sent my brain off into about 8 different idea directions! Thank you! I've wanted to do a theme journal for a while but couldn't think of a good one. Then boom! Buried treasure, deserted island, pirates . . . Oh my! Ahoy! or . . .Arrg! Lol.
Pam these journals are awesome. I love all the details you put into the story. My husband wouldn't even read through all of the details but I love the idea. Thanks for sharing your talent and enthusiasm with us. You inspire me.
That was so fun! Now I'm thinking about a journal for my husband again... He is a car and hi-fi nut. I should start collecting vintage images and maybe cars he's owned through the years. Thanks for the inspiration, Pam!
I absolutely love both but the mini journal with the simple tea dyed papers and stamps here and there are perfect for me! I'd love a tutorial on signatures and the cover which is absolutely gorgeous! Well both are stunning. Thanks for sharing so much! Big time inspired ♡
The smaller Journal looks like a metal cover, I print on vellum with a ink jet printer and it comes out nice, if wet just let it air dry for a few minutes. Story book journal, great idea. 👍🎄🎄🎄
They are beautiful those two journals! The cover you made for the small one is fantastic, the idea with embossing the brown paper and put ink on it makes it look like an old leather journal.
Hi there! They are so much fun to make! And remember it's only paper! :) You can make these too! Everyone should make a book at least once in their lives! :)
I am a beginner. 300! Wow, coming late into the field. But it will be just for fun and for me, but you have so many good ideas and share so graciously. This one for your hubby is remarkable! A found treasure. Have fun, keep it coming, I need all the help I can get!

Awesome and educational too! And with a happy ending to boot (😋)! I absolutely get you about not wanting to part with what you've created! Some don't understand junk journals like us who make them. My MIL lives what I've made for her...most just say, "thank you I just don't know if I'd ever actually write/journal in it." Anyways, it's fun, therapeutic, stress -relieving, challenging (you never stop learning new things!)Tfs!

I miss my heart so much, with every waking and sleeping moment. my heart broke forever on 7/30/11 when he broke the rules and left me behind in this life at his age of 51 from 1 fatal heart attack, he was 51, I was 46 when he died, been 8 long, lonely years
