Destroying Prometheus I thought was a big move. As a massive fan, I was devastated. I couldn't believe what I was watching. In terms of impact and story it was crazy and well done. They even pulled the classic rule of the captain going down with the ship. It hit me hard as most stargate episodes have a good ending, this episode had one of the most traumatic moments in the franchise and it even ended sadly as well.

I wish the Prometheus did not get destroyed in SG-1 episode Ethon and it survived the battle over Tegalus. It got repaired, refitted and brought back into service, until retirement. Use some of the first design concept of the Daedalus class in the refit and change the bridge to the current Daedalus class design. Before it would retire, the Prometheus would do a tour run around the Milky Way and Pegasus galaxies. During that touring run, it will connect with the episode in SGA Lifeline and it was the Prometheus, maybe with SG-1 onboard too or just Sam Carter plus crew, and not the Apollo that recuses the SGA team from the Asurans/Pegasus Replicator ship or both Prometheus and Apollo ships arrive to the rescue. Afterwards, the Prometheus is put into a secret museum until it is moved into a regular museum, after the Stargate Program has been revealed. Both the 303 and 304 designs are some of my favourite ships from Stargate franchise.

I always felt Prometheus was just like a first draft to the 304s. It's a cool ship but the design isn't close to the Daedalus. And The Destiny is the most beautiful ship they ever designed.

i think the most beautiful, was a ship that never aired... i think, as i dont have the physical boxsets anymore, season 4? the main disk menu had a cool curved wing ship, that was beautiful

The destruction of the Prometheus was very effective. The episode had built the suspense with an impending threat but I expected SG1 to prevail as usual. Instead they failed & our main ship was destroyed. An extremely dramatic finale to series 9.

One burning question i always wondered, where were they building the 304s

That's a good point, because "Prometheus" established the X-303 being constructed in the Nevada desert, but I always assumed they were likewise built around Area 51. I've had an idea with a few SG stories that the SG Program had become semi-public and were built on Earth and an AU idea with an X-303 variant I'd called the Leto-class being built at a captured Goa'uld shipyard, so it could have been an undisclosed off-world site like in "Disclosure" constructing F-302s on-site after bringing in the parts

It was definitely time for the SGC to lose one of their own ships. We always lost the ones we 'borrowed' pretty quick, to keep the show on the ground. But those loses tended to be kind of meaningless in the grand scheme. We only lost a redshirt or two in the loss. Yet despite all odds, we held our own against the Goa'uld with just Prometheus for so long. The Ori were definitely the right ones to finally take one from us. To show how much more insidious an enemy they were. The Goa'uld suppressed advancement, but the Ori would arm their followers against us. And then they take two so quickly with Korolev dying later that same season. From seemingly invincible to incredibly outmatched.
The only regret I have about Prometheus's death was that Ethon was followed immediately by Off the Grid. There was no mourning period. No "oh crap we're in danger and we need to rush Odyssey into service". They do suggest she's still in the testing phase, but Odyssey was flight capable and even got into fights right away without a problem, so she was ready enough. Prometheus dies and the very next episode we've got the Odyssey fitted out and ready to roll.
I think there was so much potential in there for even a single episode that made the most of the fact we had lost the weapon we were holding out to the galaxy. We still had the shield of the Drones. But we had no power to strike away from Earth, until we suddenly did again out of nowhere. Daedalus was at least mentioned in Moebius before she slipped into Pegasus to save the day. But Odyssey just appeared out of nowhere only 6 months after Daedalus was completed. It sort of lampshaded the speed at which the rest of the fleet would roll out. Making six ships that dwarf air craft carriers in scale in only four-fivish years. It's certainly impressive.
And I really do love the Odyssey. She's probably my favourite of the 304s. Then Daedalus for being the first (and having a green CIC, which is my fave colour) and being so hardy and useful in Pegasus. Then the Hammond for the emotional attachment of Don's passing. I normally hate naming ships after people as it feels so self-agrandizing, but if anyone involved in the SGC deserved it, it's Hammond. But, yeah. Odyssey immediately rolling out so soon after Ethon threw a big bucket of water on the emotional fire caused by Prometheus dying.

Destroying the Prometheus still bugs me in that episode, could have just build a replacement

It would have been better to have either; A) built a second Prometheus with the advanced systems installed rather than tacked-on, B) given the SGC a chance to mourn the "death" of the Prometheus as she was practically developed like a part of the SGC/SGP, or C) had a chance to take what they knew and build a 303/304 hybrid to blend the "strengths" of both classes.
I found it weird that from "Prometheus" to "Ethon" I'd never really liked the design of the X-303, but watching her get destroyed with three shots felt like watching Daniel or someone else on SG-1 die as it made her seem like another member of the Stargate Program. Seeing the F-304 Daedalus for the first time seemed like she was more streamlined, but had less of the "heart" during "Siege, Pt 3" that Promethus showed

I was kinda glad to see the Prometheus go, to be honest. It was such an ugly design. It was kinda garbage, too. They did a much better job on the Daedalus. I'm glad that was the design that was mass produced.

In general I was good with the whole Ori thing the first time I watched the series, but man, I just can't stand it anymore. The Ori are... annoying.
