Option B. Civilian drop ships aren’t talked about much but they are the most common. They also can play a large role such as in the Silver Eagle incident.
I am glad to see Dropships get covered. I can't wait to see more of them. My Favorite Dropships would be the Union sense it is very common and easier to repair or replace if needed. Also B. Civilian Dropships.
Civilians & Drop Ships : Thru out Battletech history Drop ships have been used to Land , and evacuate civilian populations . They even did that in some of the BT Video games. Overloard Drop Ships are when you want to land a major BASE fully equip in a single place. Caring the stock piles from the reinforcements that just landed here. And for the show of the dramatic , launch all Areotect Fighters to secure the skies .
I vote for civilian dropships. I can just imagine the mass carnage as screaming populations were wiped out within seconds of enemy forces opening fire. Oh and lets not forget all the many civilians taken into captivity and slavery at the hands of pirate forces. So much pirate booty to be had :) Thanks GrimDark Narrator on this highly educating video on dropships, their costs and rareness. I especially enjoyed the section on Wolf's Dragoons which I was not aware they fielded such rare dropships when entering the inner sphere. I thought they only had pristine battlemech units when they arrived. Am surprised the whole inner sphere did not jump them for their equipment considering what ended up of the Gray Death Legion. Have a healthy and fun day Master Educator of all things fantastical!
Union class dropships bring memories. The first time I played MW2 Mercs. The experience of videogames is not complete until you play table top. I made arts for a visual guide for "Battletech Fan" youtube channel, to assist new players. Written rules sometimes are intimidating. Visual guide is not. Great work with this video.
The obvious answer is A, we love a good heavy combat ship, your also missing a class of dropship, you forgot about Pocket warships, that could be a fun topic of dropship too with some cool looking ships.
Does anyone know what class is depicted in the mission one cinematic of Mechwarrior III? It looks like maybe the Union class but I’m not sure. The ship’s name is the Black Hammer. I vote C.
I went on to Sarna to look it up, it's a Union. She was carrying three Lances when she went down. In Mw2, you deploy from a Broadsword; MW2 Mercenaries it's a Union. MW4 it's mostly Leopard's, but you do fight some Overlords.
Another good video Grim. I vote B: Civilian Drop Ships. Read below why. :) It's good to see that you are covering other things in addition to the Mechs, tanks, fighters, etc available in the game world. Drop Ships are an important part of the Lore, and need such a series of videos for best coverage of the subject. Please see my response to your response to Greg Domenico's posting. Oh, and I vote B. Due in most part to using many of them in the old Play Group many years ago. Once my Merc Legion had grown sufficiently large enough, I was using Civilian designs, most of the time modified extensively, to haul around large numbers of troops, tanks, and Mechs. Of course, as 'second wave' transports for the previously stated units. Civilian Drop Ships were more easily obtainable in the Play Group, since no one else thought to use them for 'follow on' force transports. Thus I was able to practically corner the market on them early on in the Campaign. This let me use them extensively for quite some time before others 'got the tactical picture' and wanted to use them as well. Thus letting me sell Civilian Drop Ships for far more than I'd paid for them, with the profits going to increase my more 'battle ready' Drop Ship Fleet. Just to prove my point with the Group, and using only 3025 tech (game time was at that point 3045), I landed 3 Union Class Drop Ships loaded with Phoenix Hawks, Stingers, and Wasps. The follow-on forces were in modified Civilian Drop Ships, and carried more than enough tanks and troops to cover the landing zone nicely against attack, and dropped something like 5 Companies of Locusts (slightly modified in that they carried an additional Medium Laser at the cost of their MGs and ammo. This allowed for the addition of an extra Heat Sink, and made the Locusts independent of Supply, which let them roam around in large groups. More than enough to hunt down and 'kill' Medium, Heavy, and Assault Class Mechs). Needless to say, I was accused of 'cheating'. But, I told them all, that one of the precepts of Warfare is: "If you are NOT cheating, you're not trying hard enough to win". The guy in charge of the Campaign ruled in my favor, on both the tactics, usage, and modifications of the Civilian Ships, and the 'swarm' tactics I was using with 'oversized' Locust units (usually 8 to 12 Locusts per Hunter Unit). Yes, I lost quite a few Light Mechs. But racked up an impressive Kill Tally of heavier foes. Enough so, that my costs to replace or repair my damaged or lost Mechs cost me FAR less than what my foes had lost. Thus, highly profitable for my Merc 'Legion'. By the time I needed more heavily armored and armed Drop Ships, I could comfortably afford them, as well as populate them with crews, troops, Tanks, Mechs, Fighters, etc. Ah, the value of doing the unexpected.
How about "B." The Union seems to be the standard dropship, most often used. They are a solid choice. I like to combine them with a Seeker and a Leopard CV to fill out the fleet.
One big problem with the Speriod ships is that most weapons bays are located in the nose. When grounded, a lot of the weapons can't depress far enough to engage ground targets. Get in close enough, and they are in serious trouble. Question on the vote; are carrier classes going to be covered under assault, or aerodine?( Even though there is one that is a spheriod). A for the vote.
That's a tricky question. I figured I'd do just some aerodynes at some point, then just some civilian, and just some assaults. Seems like the most sensible way to split them since otherwise all of them can be either spherical or aerodyne.
@@GrimDarkNarrator I disagree Grim. I think that 'Carrier' Drop Ships should be covered as their own 'class' type, and a video on just them should be done to cover the subject matter. This might result in a slightly longer video, but it would be a 'one off' type of video within the overall 'Drop Ship' videos.
The Fortress is the overall best in my opinion. Excellent command and control, weapons, armor, and that Long Tom is worth the price of admission. However, you have to go to two different Successor States to get the parts, post Federated Commonwealth. But still very well worth it.
One critical thing most people forget is just how important logistics are for military operations.
Option B. Civilian drop ships aren’t talked about much but they are the most common. They also can play a large role such as in the Silver Eagle incident.

Def imterested in all three topics, but the Aerodynes get my vote for soonest!

Thank you.

Toxic assault drop ship, I need one

Though i couldnt believe three out of the 4 dropships you covered were such obscure examples.
I kinda have to pick ones that fit in the timetable, despite or in spite their popularity.
Although i love all dropships, there are so many types to use. I would really like to see more civilian dropships.
Gonna bring a video on those at some point :)
With aerodyne you have quite the range ahead of you, ranging from Leopard to Conquistador. Curious what you are going to make of that.
A for assault. But mildly disappointed that the overlord was not in this video

That is a known weakness in the universe. One reason they are possible to capture by surprise ground assault.
Option A!
Thanks for the vote.
Assault dropships sound good
Thanks for the vid sir.👍🏼👍🏼 I vote C.
You're very welcome!
My vote is for the assualt dropships. I'm a sucker for the bigger machines.
Thanks for the vote.
My vote is for C. Though I'm not going to be disappointed with any of them.
Aerodyne all the way! Leopard-chan is best girl!
Thanks for the vote.
She lacks junk in the trunk tho.
I'm going to make a union that walks

Check out the Trutzburg, 3 Longtoms😍
@@Wickeddemon86 Nice!
@@Wickeddemon86 3 Longtoms seems like something you'd have to sacrifice too many other things to obtain, lol.
