I didn't watch the whole video, so I don't know if you talked about it, but, how necessary is to take a dog? I realize that the concept of family has changed through recent years, but there are other couples and even a single mom with her kid doing an excellent job, as you guys do, in keeping us up with their personal traveling experiences, but non of them with their pets. Can you comment about this subject? Thank you. Cheers.
Shwab will kick you out after a certain amount of time. For me it was a year and a half. If you look like you are mainly abroad they don't want you to use their account (at least that's what I was told).
Excellent & funny video, so thx again for being a huge inspiration to travel more. Keep enjoying Mexico- ignore people who tell you to go to another country (that's for you to decide!) To me, it looks like Mexico could be explored & enjoyed for a lifetime. Be proud of what you two have achieved with your courage, perseverence & HONESTY!!! Most people never get off their couches.....
Thank you for your sweet and encouraging words, Sheila! Mexico really could take a lifetime to see it all. It's a nice reminder that we do have a lot to be proud of in this (almost) year's time. :)
Google Maps can work anywhere if you download the map ahead of time through their offline maps. Someone at the car rental place in Scotland told me about this tip. Figure out where you need to go, save the map of the region you need to go through, and even with NO cell service whatsoever, the map won't fail because it's on your phone. Just keep your phone charged and you're golden. When you're done, just delete the offline map. Simple. Download over wifi to save data if you don't have unlimited.
Thank you for this wealth of information. You both are so adorable. I love that you are able to do all of this travelling at a young age!!! The things you are learning about other cultures is one of the most important educations you will ever get. I just love your channel!!!!
Wow, great tips and great video! I didn't travel until I was older and I really wish I would have while I was as young as you both. You are right that traveling changes your perspective and really opens the mind. Too many people live in their own little small bubble and never experience what the real world is like. I have watched some of your videos, but have not subscribed until now. I'm a brand new Tangerinie! Safe travels to you all!
Excellent video! I love your honest light hearted approach. Love anything Anker and opolar 👍👍. Might I suggest a lightweight cotton sleep liner that also covers the pillow. Takes up almost no space in luggage and has saved me in some countries where sheets are scratchy or overly scented. A stash of heavier duty clear plastic freezer type bags will be used over and over again. Sent the link for the bank to my son who will be overlanding there soon into Baja but not sure if 🇨🇦’s are eligible.
Great video. I love packing cubes as I put them in the drawer and now never accidentally leave a pair of socks or underwear that are left behind because they are way at the back of the drawer. When it is time to leave zip them up and you are ready to go which makes packing up so fast. Other essentials are ear plugs and ziplock bags.
So true! And you're so right, ziplock bags are another really good one. Despite all the noises of Mexico, we've never considered buying earplugs though, not sure why.
Great video! Agree with you on the kitchen essentials (and the others too) especially if you cook at home. Some times we just want home cooking. Keep up the great work you two! Nos vemos ...?
Could you do a tech video showing the hardware and software used in making your remarkably good clips? Behind the scenes at Tangerine Studios? Would be much appreciated!
I take my umbrella with me everywhere in Mexico. It provides good shade in the heat of the day, shelter from rain, and can be used for personal protection from a scary dog or creepy guy. I have a sturdy one that has worked well for me.
Totally agree on the formal/elegant clothes not being actually used when you travel! I was abroad for six months and didn't use my blazer or formal shirts once! Btw, please do a video on tips on traveling through Mexico; I think that can probably make more people travel our county and not only the typical destinations like Cancún or Los Cabos. Cheers and safe travels! Whenever you are in Mexico City, we can suggest lots of places to visit!
@@lpabeck I first used them to organize my motorcycle saddlebags - then for regular travel with a suitcase - now to keep things in check with my self build Transit van. Gold...
If you end up getting some, we recommend: tea tree, lavender, peppermint, and lemon. Or even do some research into health issues you have and which oils would be good for you :)
Wine bottle tip: push the cork INTO the bottle. You’ll still be able to pour just fine, and with two people it isn’t too hard to finish a bottle in one go (‘cause you can’t recork it unless you also have a reusable cork).
silicone ear plugs, not just for sleeping but for concerts to protect from damage and I second packing cubes I never used to use them but its makes finding stuff easier as I organize mine with all the same stuff like shirts in one, shorts in another etc and plastic sandwich bags and a portable charger are a must except I have a cheapo one that has to be charged ahead of time. Plastic bags ,too are good for shoes, dirty clothes, bathing suits, etc
In longer trips we've thought about vacuum bags but ended up using large ziplock bags and just squash them to get the air out! I've traveled a lot but not once have ever UNDERPACKED! I agree with your minimalistic habits, and thank you for the great tips. I'm a new subscriber and have enjoyed your video logs!
Great video! You might want to look at the Osprey Daylite (or Daylite Plus) as your travel backpack, they're really nice! Also, Sea to Summit makes a really nice travel towel with a case, packs down small and it's lightweight and dries really fast! I also travel with a good set of knives that have covers. Look too into ultralight camping items, like a flexible cutting board.....just a few changes and you could minimize even more for both size and weight of what you're carting around!
I buy a box of Zip Loc bags with 30- 40 gallon size and use them for everything, scooping pooh, make up, leftovers at restaurants, scraps when cooking and endless things.
Thank you for the great tips. I've been living in Ecuador for the last six years and have been to Mexico twice in the last five months for a total of five weeks there. I think it has real possibilities living there. I want get some of those travel cubes for my next trip. Even after packing carefully, my suitcase looks like a bomb went off in it after two days. Those cubes look like they'll organize things better. Your tip on taking a wash cloth is right on. In much of the world, they aren't provided at lodgings. I use vitamin supplements too, and the bottles are frequently big and bulky. When traveling, I put them in "Blue Avocado" brand zip bags. They're strong, secure, washable and reusable. The nice thing is that as you use your supplements, the bags become smaller. I bought mine at the Container Store in the U.S.
Umbrellas! When it rains light you don't really need it, And when it rains buckets are useless, you still get wet. I rather hats, specially if you use glasses.
I sure enjoy you kids, glad you are doing this to show people what Mexico is really like. I had to laugh that you called it minimalist though. As a challenge to myself, I once went to a place I'd never been way into southern Mexico to spend a month at the beach. I took the clothes on my back and a small rolling backpack suitcase with a pillow in it so I could travel on the bus without looking weird. I wore an ankle length down coat, because the buses are over airconditioned. After I got there the coat became my bed comforter as it was winter and even the beach hotel got cold at night. When I didn't need it like in bus stations, it easily went into the backpack. I wore flip flops. I had a big rebozo, or Mexican shawl, that folded down very small, but opened large enough to use as a blanket. After I arrived, I spent a couple of days looking over the hotel situation and even though I had to do it by sign language, I negotiated a months rent cheap. It was a great experience. I bought some inexpensive beach clothes and a toothbrush after I arrived.
I love essential oils. All of these are great tips! Had to leave Guarnojuarto (I am sure I butchered that) due to bad internet. I teach online. Renting a house in Patzcuaro. Oh my goodness! My favorite place so far. So I bumped my head while the motorhome went over a speed bump (AKA Mount Everest) Wasn't buckled and was sitting on my bed. Actually didn't think it hurt that much. Five days later, ended up in a Morellia small hospital for two nights. Brain swelling and a leak? I don't remember much of that night! Been out about ten days and feel good. The hospital was great. Our doctor suggested Patzcuaro for recuperation. Boom, a man offered to rent his house. My blond 15 year old seems to be a movie star here. People want her pictures, boys give numbers, the ice cream boy/man? wrote her a poem... She's tall for Mexico, (so am I) I think they see her as older? Thankfully she's more interested in feeding every stray cat and dog. She has six big brothers back in the states, one who is a cop, who would be on a warpath by now. Can you hire bodyguards in Mexico? Lol. Great video as always!
Dang, I wish we knew that sooner. Although (it sounds like) you had bad internet in your rental, Guanajuato has some of the fastest internet in the country and has a lot of digital nomads there. There's a place we know of called something like "tercer piso" or 3rd floor (in English) which is a coworking space with 100mbps internet (upload and download) and it's pretty affordable (25 pesos to get in and includes stuff like coffee). I think they also offer longer-term options. Jim and May from the channel Spanish and Go have lived there for a little while and told us about it. Oh man, what a way to end up in the hospital! At the very least, we're happy to hear the hospital was a good experience. Hope you're healing up well and we're glad to hear that you're enjoying Patzcuaro. Hopefully, your daughter is okay with all of the attention :)
@@TangerineTravels It was definitely a rental problem. The house was on the edge of town. Also found it too far to walk to anything. Great motor home park, and lovely people, but not for long term. The house we rented in Patzcuaro is close to Central and has views 360 panoramic. It was a great move, we hope! The good news is, we are just enjoying one day at a time. No time clock, no agenda. Kind of living the whole "Don't worry be happy" thing. :)
Great videos. Love the ones on Chiapas. This is THE GREATEST STATE IN MEXICO... I moved down in 2010 and stayed there for 4 years. I have a place down in Tzimol, Chiapas on the San Vicente River. That river is the one that dumps over the mountain and forms the El Chiflon falls. I don't have a house on my place, only a cabin, but I rent a place in Tzimol. I pay less than a hundred US dollars a month for a 3 bedroom house on the outskirts of town. San Cristobal is actually and expensive place compared to other places in inland Chiapas. It is one of the only tourist towns inland.. I was living very easily on $800 US dollars a month (family of three) I only moved back to the USA because I was not making the improvements on my property that I wanted. I was going to stay here a few years and then go back but decided to wait until I retire and the go back with way more of a monthly income than I will need.. (My temporary job here in the USA ended up being a great permanent job and I couldn't resist.)

Jordan, you mentioned ed in another video no spike a in Mexico. Go to pharmacy and ask what they have as substitute. They can sell epinephrine with a syringe.
In place of packing cubes I sometimes use those zippered plastic bags that curtains/sheets and stuff like that come in. I like that they are see through and water resistant. When staying somewhere for several days I just put the whole cube of stuff in the dresser and don't have to worry how clean the drawers are. Also, earplugs are a necessity, btw.
I do that too! Thankfully, my mom always saves those up (also the pull-tie cloth bags that sheets sometimes come in) so she gave those to me for our travels. They've been perfect for stockings, undies, etc. We've yet to buy earplugs for our travels, except once in PV for a loud bar. We should probably get some with all the random Mexico noises. :P
OfferUp is an free app that we used to sell just about everything we owned in the months before leaving to come to Mexico. Here's a great blog post on tips for getting the most out of the app: steemit.com/money/@sharingeverybite/7-top-secret-offerup-tricks-to-make-money
My two tips would be to buy your suitcases at the Goodwill Store. You can find nice suitcases for just a few bucks. Another tip is to use shampoo or conditioner instead of shaving cream.
One other thing you might consider is ditching the plastic water bottle and bringing something refillable, there is way too much plastic dumped in Mexico and it is worth the space. Oh, and an alternative straw (maybe one of the metal ones).
@@TangerineTravels The corkscrewer (I assume)? Yes it was but the original use was for wine. We have had a couple wierd situations like we had a zipper break (the pull tab) and had no way to open or start the zipper and the tip of the screw fit in the area of the zipper and we could at least get it started. We have used it to open packages and other items. And I guess it could become a weapon if it is handy and that is all you have (just kidding even though it would probably work). Wine has been the primary use.
Each essential oil has TONS of different uses, so it would be impossible to name them all. The best thing to do is either Google search the oil or ailment you're trying to help. How do you use them? You can apply them topically with a carrier oil (like coconut, olive, almond oil, etc.) and rub a drop or two into the desired area. You can diffuse them into the air to inhale with a diffuser. Or, you can take them internally - ONLY with the advisement of a doctor. Hope this helps!
Please erase reply about injesting essential oils. Unless food grade most oils are toxic chemicals never to be used i ternally or even skin( great for cleaning. Or scenting.) Also minute amounts should be used and diluted PEOPLE think drink more feel better faster = ER or die faster.
It’s always such a relief to have the “daily routine comforts” when traveling. Everything else might go wrong in a day but at least you have those things. 😄

Charles Schwab acct? YES!! I've used it throughout Mexico and other Latin American countries and it's great! Other US cards charge ridiculous fees that are nothing more than greed. Schwab has no fees and, as pointed out, reimburses all ATM fees charged by other banks.
YOU ARE MY FAVORATE COUPLE MUCHACHOS, I WISH I CAN GET TO KNOW YOU NEXT YEAR IN MAY WHEN I GET TO HUATULCO MEXICO, God Bless you both. And I love your new house is beautiful!
I pack all my clothes in a soft duffle. Dirty clothes go into another soft duffle. One bag empties (and collapses) as the other fills, maintaining the same total volume of baggage. In fact, I can stuff the bag of dirty laundry into the clean laundry bag. I don't need to wash everything each time before I can move on. And soft luggage can conform to available spaces better, making car packing less of a Tetris challenge. I save hard luggage for fragile things.
Thank you for this very good video. I would also take a folding small knife, spoon, fork, very light, foldable rain coat, good quality sunglasses, a smaller warm and light blanket, flashlight, some rubbing alcohol in small spray bottle and more essential oils. As you, I like Young Living essential oils and besides some oils you have mentioned, would also take their blend called Thieves.
ALSO A GREAT ESSENTIAL OIL: JHP japanese oil (buts it's german you can get it on amazon america. We love it,we germans have it in many many households!
Hi, I mikki and I've been sick a long time. In the US they don't have a health and healing system. They have a illness maintaining system. Research the benefits of herbs. I was sick for 20 yours, chronically, but now I well at 55. Try some natural bug spray. After hearing about your sencitivies . I suggest. You use more essential oils and to heal your heavy metal toxicities and etcetera.

Thank you Tangerines for the tips, I specially want to thank you for recommending Schwabb, I opened the account using your link and it worked. I recently went to Mexico and withdrew cash at the ATM in Bancomer, they charged me $84.10 pesos to use their ATM and Schwabb refunded me the fees plus they didn't charge the customary 3% foreign fee that banks usually charge. THANK YOU, Love you guys.
I second the one about portable power banks to keep your phone from dying when you are away from car/hotel sources. We were in LA a few weeks ago, my phone died in the middle of calling a Lyft ride and I got dinged five bucks.

Target. There's a link to it in the description of the video. But I think you have to be on Target's US website for the link to take you straight to the hamper.

Laura Ashley's Lovelies Guarnojuarto? 😂😂😂 You definitely butchered that one!
@@miguel-h I promise we hired a tutor! Hopefully she can help us because we are a bi-lingual mess! :/

Fantastic. Learned a lot.
Glad to hear it. Thanks for watching, Doug!
Jordan, you mentioned ed in another video no spike a in Mexico. Go to pharmacy and ask what they have as substitute. They can sell epinephrine with a syringe.
Great advice !! Keep doing what you doing. Enjoy life. Gracias😎
an old school method of getting more in your suite case is to roll your clothes instead of folding them. saves a lot of space
Lots of useful information! Thank you guys!
Great information and thanks for the links, those will come in very useful for both us. BTW, what is OFFRUB?
OfferUp is an free app that we used to sell just about everything we owned in the months before leaving to come to Mexico. Here's a great blog post on tips for getting the most out of the app: steemit.com/money/@sharingeverybite/7-top-secret-offerup-tricks-to-make-money
My two tips would be to buy your suitcases at the Goodwill Store. You can find nice suitcases for just a few bucks. Another tip is to use shampoo or conditioner instead of shaving cream.
Maddie, check Pinterest, those beach towels can be made into beach bags/ bag.
A great alternative to off bug spray is anything citrus scented, as in essential oil, or even a citrus spray of some kind.
Hey guys, love your content so much! It has been very helpful on my recent travels to Mexico. Thank you for all that you've created here!
One other thing you might consider is ditching the plastic water bottle and bringing something refillable, there is way too much plastic dumped in Mexico and it is worth the space. Oh, and an alternative straw (maybe one of the metal ones).
Great video. We learned the corkscrew was invaluable a while ago and quite by accident. I didn't even think of the hamper. Good ideas.
Is it valuable to you guys in other ways besides wine?
Thanks for watching! Glad you got some good ideas from our video. 😄
Excellent suggestions. Thanks so much.
Mattie do a video on what you use your essential oils for.
Essential oils, what is each of them for and how do you use them for ailments?
Awesome video. Thank you.😉
Thanks for watching Jose!
@@TangerineTravels love your videos. Planning on moving to Mexico soon. Can't wait.
So true about washcloth and also a hand towel.
It’s always such a relief to have the “daily routine comforts” when traveling. Everything else might go wrong in a day but at least you have those things. 😄
You can buy Sport towels at Walmart guys, they are very small, absorb a lot of water and just need a hand squeeze to throw all the water out of it.
What a great video guys. I would like to recommend that everyone should take a pair of water socks with them. We use ours all the time.
What are water socks? I'm not sure I've heard of those before
They are great for beaches rivers and walking trails to water. Here is a link to a set. www.amazon.com.mx/HLM-Quick-Dry-Mutifunctional-Lightweight-Men-6-2-Black/dp/B073LRWHTF/ref=asc_df_B073LRWHTF/?tag=gledskshopmx-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=295496505296&hvpos=1o4&hvnetw=g&hvrand=98080914905684155&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=t&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1010063&hvtargid=pla-352402210950&psc=1
Did you make that backpack and your shirt from the same material?
Best way to start a day!
Great information I always bring to much traveling in case! My hubby says if we have a case.... we ll buy it lol
A damp rubber textured dishwashing glove is THE BEST dog hair remover for clothes, furniture and the car
Charles Schwab acct? YES!! I've used it throughout Mexico and other Latin American countries and it's great! Other US cards charge ridiculous fees that are nothing more than greed. Schwab has no fees and, as pointed out, reimburses all ATM fees charged by other banks.
It’s the best way to go for traveling by far! 😄
Do you have a referral code i could use?
YOU ARE MY FAVORATE COUPLE MUCHACHOS, I WISH I CAN GET TO KNOW YOU NEXT YEAR IN MAY WHEN I GET TO HUATULCO MEXICO, God Bless you both. And I love your new house is beautiful!
Another great video!!
Trim those doggy nails, Tangerines! Don't want Laska to snag a nail!
We really need to, I know! She's just tap-tap-tap dancing all over this place and annoying us daily lol
umbrellas are indeed necessary in rainy places
I pack all my clothes in a soft duffle. Dirty clothes go into another soft duffle. One bag empties (and collapses) as the other fills, maintaining the same total volume of baggage. In fact, I can stuff the bag of dirty laundry into the clean laundry bag. I don't need to wash everything each time before I can move on. And soft luggage can conform to available spaces better, making car packing less of a Tetris challenge. I save hard luggage for fragile things.
Sounds like a great system!
Nice place you guys!
Thanks for watching Norma! We’re loving this Airbnb in San Cris. It’s one of the nicest we’ve been blessed with in a while!
Share the ways you e-charge the Prius in your travels throughout Mexico, por favor. Is it easy to find e-stations or you just fill the tank and or hug a tree for forgiveness?
Our car doesn't need a charging station, it's a hybrid but you can't charge the car. It charges the batteries while driving.
Hug a tree for forgiveness 😂
You can buy an umbrella for 50 pesos on any corner.
Pilgrims Pride is a pretty good vitamin/supplement company that ships most of their products to Mexico.

A whole year traveling. Who would it tough. Your life have change so mush just for a year of trveling . love you guys.
Where did you buy the laundry hamper I tried to find one today was only at Chedraui and they didn't have them, thanks
Target. There's a link to it in the description of the video. But I think you have to be on Target's US website for the link to take you straight to the hamper.
