It was probably also to make it seem like a fake. If Lan Zhan was blamed for writing his name there, his reputation would be ruined. Wu Xian wrote his name since everyone knew that he died to make it seem like some troublemakers. But like, it's still cute.
In the novel, LZ specifically makes space between his name and "was here" and forces WWX to his name there. So the end result reads "Lan WangJi /and Wei WuXian/ were here"

There's two interpretations for the chicken scene.
One, there was a tradition in China where, when a man and a woman wanted to get married, they gift a rooster and a hen. So it's like a marriage proposal. Wei Ying and Lan Zhan are both guys, so instead, he gave him two roosters. Basically, he's trying to propose.
Two, when Wei Ying was still in Cloud Recesses, he and Jiang Cheng and a bunch of others went out to steal chickens for some meat because they got tired of the vegetarian bland meals. Wei Ying invited Lan Zhan, but he refused to go. Now, he wants to do all these things with Wei Ying, including going out to steal chickens apparently.

4. Even tho, there's scenes from novel omitted here, I'm still satisfied because;
5. These two, Xiao Zhan and Wang Yibo gives justice to their characters.
6. WangXian is two idiots in love.
No need to say the word 'I love you' or something like that. Their actions speak louder than words.
Love can be express in different forms and sizes. And Lan Zhan's way of love is to never leave Wei Ying's side. Never again.

The way he gave Wei Ying roosters (fans know what does it mean) and the way he revealed he felt guilty that he wasn't by Wei Ying's side at Nervernight. All the years he was searching for him. And at the end "you like...", Lan Zhan thought may be the truth will be revealed, that's to Wei Ying,he only said "rabbits"

@Χρυσή Πετρίδου there's an interview with one of the producer of the drama, she said at first they wasn't convinced about yibo portfolio sorting (in paper, not face to face yet), she said they turn him down twice for the role by the paper, but when yibo insisted to came in person for a face to face interview session they know exactly that they almost made mistake by slipped him away twice during paper sorting
