Inspired by the start of Sonic 2’s special stage music, I reckon. ;-) Also a great early example of what’s some people these days think of as “Tee Lopes style”, especially those jazzy brass improvs.
@Mariesun That’s basically what I meant. People often associate this sort of music in the Sonic series with Tee Lopes, when in fact Lopes was just drawing influence from existing music in the series (which makes sense - the whole point of Mania was to be a celebration of the best of classic Sonic).
@@tdark987isn’t the “Tee Lopes” style of music basically a hybrid of Sonic CD’s Japanese soundtrack and the Richard Jacques music from the Saturn Sonic games?
I mean, this is my opinion, but it’s basically a better version of the Sonic 2 Special Stages, well, from the looks. I haven’t played the Saturn version of Sonic 3D Blast.
Really glad I finally gave this one a listen This is actually a jam, especially around 1:05! It evokes this energy that's hard to describe but I love it all the same
Man, what a great track this is. Although I consider the Special Stage themes from Sonic CD's Japanese OST and the DS version of Sonic Colors to be the best in the series, this ain't too bad either. Plus, this theme plays in what are essentially the best Special Stages in the entire series, so there's that too!

I'm gonna say it, the special stages made it worth suffering through the rest of this game. (Saturn only, obviously, the Genesis special stages were somehow actually worse than the rest of the game.)
My ranking of Sonic 3D Special Stages: 1. Genesis/Mega Drive (The Best) 2. Saturn (2nd Best) 3. PC Version (Better than Sonic 2, but it still feels super fast and fun to play through)

The most underrated song in the entire series I swear to god
This song perfectly encapsulates what the series is all about
Ikr? This song feels like it just holds the entire groovy essence of the classic era.

Barely underrated you hear it in every sonic video

The shout bass line, the horns, the organ, the piano, the drums oh my gosh what a tune!!! My goodness
Why this song goes so hard dammn
Because in many ways this re-do of Sonic 2's special stage was their big thing for this version, so they gave it full force.
This is a really damn good remix of the Sonic 2 special stage music. I was very surprised at this.
