    Decent!!! I thought I was the only one preserving heads like that. Never watched or looked up anything until after I already did it. Just did a Brown Trout, a huge Walleye & Northern Pike head. Even used fake eyes & mounted it on a cheap arts & crafts board from Wal-Mart. Looks phenomenal! About a week process in total or so (to ensure no molding) & total cost is less than $10 bucks. Can't get any better than that! Most fisherman arent going to shell out hundreds of dollars every nice catch. They should opt into doing it this way.

      I definetly agree!!!! It’s super cheap and way faster then most people think!

    I would have thought that would have taken a lot longer than it did. I'll be going to big pike country later this year, ( The UP ), so maybe I will find myself a nice big pike to mount! Hey Brad, you up in Alaska yet? Can't wait to see what you caught up there. Also, you got to do a video of the UP going for giant Tiger muskellunge.

    Question, does it matter if the borax is the detergent booster or the laundry booster or can either be used?

    • @thefisherbrad
      @thefisherbrad  Рік тому

      I would only use borax personally

    • @spindominusgod7743
      @spindominusgod7743 Рік тому

      @@thefisherbradyes but there seems to be two types of borax. One that is laundry booster and one that is detergent booster. The one you use in the video is the detergent booster but I have the laundry booster. I am not sure if there is a difference, or if they are the same product just with slightly different packaging. that’s what I was asking about. I have a wonderful trophy chain pickerel head here that I want to do the best I can with so I don’t want to be confused.

    So the clear will protect the original color of the gar? Or do u still need to paint it?

    Thank you so much for making this video! Really helps!
    Just a couple questions
    What is the borax for exactly? Does it help break down and decay more meat and tissue from the head?
    And is the gloss absolutely necessary for this process or is it just to make the head shinier?
    Please answer I really want to do this thanks and all the best on the water!

    • @thefisherbrad
      @thefisherbrad  4 роки тому

      The borax is just a preservative. The gloss will make it shinier and will make it look 10 x better I highly recommend the gloss

    Borax soaked in water for 48 hours. And no further action has been taken? Then how many days left to dry. And has any other action been taken? I have a trophy, too, and I'm thinking of drying his head in the closet. Could you help me, please. Can you tell us about all the procedures you have implemented with a message.

    • @thefisherbrad
      @thefisherbrad  3 роки тому +1

      If you dry it out in a garage it takes a few days. You’ll also see dermaseptic beetles on it that help eat the rest clean. When you paint it they’ll run out
