Once upon a time, in a faraway kingdom, there lived a couple who longed for a child. One day, the wife fell terribly ill, and the only thing that could cure her was a special herb called rapunzel, which grew in a witch’s garden. Desperate to save his wife, the husband sneaked into the garden and took some of the herb. But as he turned to leave, the witch appeared.
“How dare you steal from my garden?” she shrieked. Trembling, the man explained his situation. The witch softened but made a bargain. “You may take the herb, but when your child is born, you must give her to me.” Heartbroken, the man agreed.
When their baby girl was born, the witch appeared and whisked her away, naming her Rapunzel. The witch raised Rapunzel in a tall tower hidden deep in the forest. The tower had no doors, only a single window at the top. Rapunzel grew into a beautiful girl with long, golden hair that shimmered like the sun. Her hair had a magical power to heal and keep people young.
