If you're just discovering King's X, you're watching a band that had it all; musicianship, songwriting, talent. From the vocals to each player's tone, it's all there. The songs are accessible enough for mainstream audiences while the riffs are hard enough for the headbangers. Why they never broke is one of Rock's biggest puzzles. Welcome to the fold. You're gonna love this stuff.
Who says you can't be heavy AND melodic? In the 80's - 90's I was following these guys instead of Metallica. Thought then, and still do, that these guys were WAY heavier...
I met Doug Pinnick once in front of the Metropol in Pittsburgh just before the show.He took the time to chat with me and I don't think anyone knew who he was. They played that night and were fantastic! This was back in the 90's and King's X has always been a super band!
I was fortunate enough to see them live in 94 front of the stage. Nothing but awesome. This band and Badlands are my two favorite bands of all time. As a musician I completely enjoy this band.
found these guys on a heavy metal compilation cd and was impressed by their harmonies, kick-ass playing and overall musicianship. they should have much, much more recognition.
Maybe? Possibly? under rated? THEY ARE THE MOST UNDER RATED! They should feel robbed. They totally blow away many of the bands that made the top 40 of this genre ! Why didn't they attain that rating? Easy.....they got the love and they absolutely refused to sell out to the recording industries cut and polished mega track money machine.
One of my favorite prog rock bands of all time! Three guys with big epic harmonies and heavy enough to rock out on! Saw them live and was blown away on how tight they are!
It's funny you said that. Whenever I try to get people into this band I always say, "combine Led Zepplin, Jimi Hendrix, and the Beatles, and you'll get an idea" They are very original, but I say this to give people an idea before they actually listen.
Yeah man. And the band doesn't mind if Texas call them their own. Ran across these guys at guitar center shortly before Dogman was released. Pretty groovy group of dudes.

One of the most underrated bands going. these guys are true talent
King's X phenomenally talented and yet criminally overlooked. this band kicks ass
I've always loved this band. They sound big for only three guys.
Magical album that enriched my teenage years
Kings X NEVER disappoints
The best band in the world. No question. See them while you still can.

This is from the short lived Dennis Miller live show from 1992. A very good performance from Kings X too!

One of the greatest bands ever!!!

3 dudes totally in the zone together. 😱

You don't get better than that. Pure excellence!
Amazing song and lyrics! One of my top 3 favourite bands!
Absolutely agreed. These guys were the Beatles of my adolescence and young adulthood. Epic.
They should Be Zeppelin big... thats how good this band is
The OTHER badass trio from Houston, and quite possibly the heaviest sounding of all trios!
Great band, great song writing, great sound. Love these guys. Absolutely under-recognized.
played in Maine with them...…….awesome people....most respect...…….best of the best... hands down
Alice in Chains should pay a HUGE check for copying them.
Maybe the most under rated of all time.. Brilliant stuff..

Hard to pigeonhole.... And yes...the 90's did rawk!
Its all dead now...just like FREEDOM AND AMERICA.

This song came up in my dreams and now it's stuck in my head. I wish I could find the video to it...
Different style. Def not heavier but equally as talented. Love these guys.
Amen brother. Well said. Music with meaning.
Love the power trio !!!
Sooo Strong...love em

Good Stuff
As Steve jobs said (and he was quoting another guy, I don't remember who):
"Stay hungry. Stay foolish."
...and the 90s.
Are those Marshalls?
nice
Sorry to disappoint everyone but they are NOT from Texas. Dug is from Chicago!!!!
thats a pretty good analogy actually.
e.e The live is epic :L
just a theory but i think if they had a better name they would have been huge, cause the music is sublime, but sometimes its all in a name.
12 string bass!
Bang
At least they were formed in Texas!! So Texans call still call them their own :)
smithereens are my favorite!
