This is how food should be made and eaten. With love, and laughter. I love the fact that these two guys are giving it to each other and at the end of the day they’re feeding their mother. If you learned this recipe from Daddy Jack, you learned a lot else as well. Congratulations to you guys and Rest In Peace Daddy Jack.
Watching Jack cook for years on UA-cam, he made amazing soups and chowder. But when you broke out the green onions that made me smile. Love to the family fellas, RIP Daddy Jack. Sorely missed.
@@BrooklynBrothersCooking He mastered many, many things, one of the most missed things when I moved away was eating at Daddy Jack’s, He was an extremely lovable man💓💓💓
Great recipe and method! It's close to what I do with the only difference being that I like to strain the clam juice early and put the clams in at the end as they can toughen up a bit if they cook too long. That and I like a little bit of thyme. I also use the big cans like this from the restaurant supply store.
About a month ago, we were visiting Seattle and ate the chowder at Pike Place, since then I’ve been craving clam chowder and your video popped up on my feed. I watched it, immediately headed to the market bought the ingredients we didn’t have and made it. We are eating it now and wow! Great recipe. I want to say thank you very much for sharing. 🤙🏽
I love this! This is how good cooking is done -no expensive, fancy cookware, no measuring, surrounded by family and laughter. ❤️ The chowder looks delicious!
I have looked all over for a thin style clam chowder recipe. This is it! I bookmarked it and made it last night. It was so yummy my boyfriend called me piggy! He was raised in Rhode Island and talked about his mother making a thin chowder so I thought to surprise him with your recipe . When I added the potatoes he said mom cooked those separately, kept them hot, and poured the soup over them. He loves the way you make it.
Made this yesterday. THE BEST recipe for chowder ! I just fried my bacon in the soup pot and scooped it out with a slotted spoon. One less pan to wash. Oh, and I added my own spice mix, including garlic powder, paprika, white pepper and cayenne, plus a dash of SLAP YA MAMA. Delicious !!
Thank you for sharing! Nothing better than a good hearty bowl of clam chowder! R.I.P. Daddy Jack you are surely missed. Blessed to have Dom share the memories and recipes from the restaurant. ❤
@@dominicksimonetti6726 I am sure you two did! He seemed like a great guy. Also love the joking between you and your brother 🤣 reminds me of me and my siblings
As I am cooking it now I noticed some issues with the written recipe: (1) Minor: the chopped clam cans I found are all 51 oz and not 54 oz as written. (2) The flour quantity is missing from the ingredients list. I used about 1 cup for the roux.. (3) From the video I figured out that you are chopping half of a whole bunch of celery. From the written recipe it sounds like half of a single stalk so you may want to clarify. BTW, we just ate our freshly made chowder and it was fantastic! Thank you both for your recipes, we love them.
So before I found your recipe I watched 6 other one's. I was pretty tired today after work but this Greek still trooped on and watched every step while you were making it. I have been from the coast of Maine to the coast of Florida I order clam chowder at every restaurant that has it. And BRAVO TO YOU because your recipe is the BEST CLAM CHOWDER I have ever eaten EVER!!! I loved that every spoonful you got clams and chunks of potatoes the flavor is incredible I added the perfect amount of flour and the thickness while it was cooking was PERFECT!!! Used to drink beer and watch Daddy Jack's videos. I would get annoyed because I would get so hungry while looking in the fridge and finding an egg or a dried up tortilla.

Looks great. I might try that. I make mine similar but I don't use bacon, I do use carrots, but no minced or chopped clams ever touch my soup. I use only whole fresh-frozen baby clams from British Columbia. I used to be able to get canned baby clams out of Malaysia that were perfect for chowder. They were rubbery as hell so you could cook them in the soup for a long time adding flavour to the broth without the clams getting mushy. They wouldn't be as rubbery when you were done but they'd still be firm. I wish I could still find those clams. Anyway, I intend to try your recipe using the bacon. Great vid, guys. Soup looks great.

@@BrooklynBrothersCooking I’ll be looking for that for sure. The only variant which I use in your recipe is to drain the clams and add the nectar to cook the potatoes.
