Happy to see a filmmaker making content about my city. Thanks for the hard work in filming, editing and posting this video. The fire truck in the video is Ladder 1, Wheeling FD. And that truck is now in service, on Wheeling Island with Engine 5, as Ladder Company 6. One of two towers in the City's fleet. My channel pays tribute to the men and women of the Wheeling FD and I really enjoyed your video. Thanks again.
Thank you. I subscribed to your channel.. My Uncle John Anders was a Wheeling fireman for most of his life. I think he started on the Island, he was in Warwood for a while, and was a captain at the station inside the 21st Street Garage.
I’m only 36 but remember going in there for a couple skating parties and a rummage sale. My parents also had their wedding reception there because it was the only place big enough to hold everyone.
Well, i was at the nailers game the night it burned. During the 1st period we went to get jersey tickets and it smelled like smoke. We took a look and it was a huge inferno. It was so hot in there i was sweating. Came back and we were allowed outside the arena to look and it was collapsed already

We would start the night going to the rink to skate, then drive down the road to the Mint many friday and saturday nights.
Jam in like sardines.

Sad to see this. :-(
Every kid in our town spent every weekend there, in the 60's and 70's.
