100 gecs is the first group in years that has ever made me smile when listening. You ever just listen to music and think to yourself how is this possible? How am I so excited for this sound? They are the future.
you probably dont give a damn but does anyone know a way to get back into an Instagram account?? I somehow lost the login password. I love any tricks you can give me
I never really enjoyed music until I found 100 gecs. It all just mushed together for me. But the sounds they make just feel new and fresh and wonderful for my brain.
I have the same feeling. I was hyper buying my ticket for their concert, and on that night it was one of my best ever. I knew then what it's like to truly love a band, it never clicked like that for me till 100 gecs.
The only thing that ever made me feel the way gecs makes me feel was growing up listening to metal with my dad. I feel like their music is something that people are shrugging off without realizing that the gecs are paving the trajectory of modern music, simply by existing. They're my favorite, I totally understand why 100% of the people in my life don't understand it, but I think whoever they influence is going to be even more incredible in the grand scheme, and I'm excited for the future of music because of them.
@@PartyThrasher118 completely agree. On first listen, gecs just seems like zany electronic music, but after repeated listens with more intent, you really can hear how syncretic it is. They integrate polymeters, constantly play with loud/soft dynamics, change tone/tambre to revitalize and reinterpret recurring motifs, craft beautiful harmonies, and deliver vocal lines in just the right way for whatever the song feels like it would call for.
@@WarhawkLieutenent They have a way of naturally flowing from genre to genre without you even noticing sometimes, like Mr. Bungle or Frank Zappa, but... it just hits different. Laura Les is a brilliant topliner. To me, her solo material is just as good. She has a metal background and plays guitar really well, and I relate so much to her style and lyrics. I feel like I found my music home.
I couldn’t agree more. Their music makes me feel the beauty and impossibility of life, even though it’s electronic music and a lot of people just look at it as a bop
@@alisonarntz8536 I find their music bittersweet. It's oddly nostalgic for times and places I haven't experienced, and it makes me feel so old and so young at the same time. I feel like I'm pontificating at this point, but I genuinely do want to express how excited and alive their music makes me feel, and yet also feel like so much has passed me by.
Laura rhyming weekend with itself 3 times gives me snoopdog rhyming "I keep a blue flag hanging out my back side. But only of the left side. Yeah thats the crip side" vibes
It's actually "back side" that rhymes with "left side" and with (with a heavy play in the pronunciation) "crip side". It would sound way worse if he rhymed "left side" with "right side". So the common technique with rhyming the same word is to rhyme using the word before that. Maybe most clear in "oh boy" by Camr'on, where essentially (most of) the sentences end with "boy". Laura is rhyming "all damn weekend" with "on the weekend". And the third time feels more like a repetition rather than a new sentence, making it more acceptable (to make the same argument stronger). Sometimes it's neither of the above (rhyme in the word before or repetition), but will work because of the word has different meanings. For example: I will party hard in the weekend Go see a concert of The Weeknd and don't sleep until the week ends
