I know exactly which scene you're talking about with Eloise and Daphne! That's the same one that put me off Eloise, too. She's so myopic in her viewpoint that she assumed Daphne was putting on an act rather than considering that she just saw it differently! I'm probably in the minority here, but I don't think Colin had that much to apologize for. His comment hurt her, and she has every right to be mad about it. But I don't think he was being as callous or insulting as people assumed. It's simply not in his character to openly make fun of any woman, let alone his best friend who he's super protective of. I think he simply didn't see her that way and said so, but not intending any harm or insult to her. And he did handle it really well. Regardless of whether he intended any insult or not, as soon as it was brought to his attention he owned up to it, apologized, and tried to make amends.
