- On my build, inspired by Mike at Tiny Boat Nation, I am prepping the bottom for a coating. On my boat I decided to use Coat-It by Goop. I hope you enjoy my video please give it a like and share!
When I lived in Texas I did this. But, it was a 90+ degree day about 5% humidity, the paint dried so hard that when I got a small leak, I had to use a grinding wheel to cut the paint. NO sandpaper would not work. Pop rivets don’t work, the rivets must be solid. Pop rivets have a core that can and will leak in time. But, as for this job. Good luck, doing this in cold weather is a bear job!
Wow. If it dried that hard, was it susceptible to stress cracks? We used solid rivets below the waterline to avoid the possibility of springing a leak. Thanks for watching the video and comments!
Thanks for the tips. Cheers
Thanks!
hey bud great build really nice work. you know anyone in miami, fl. that does these builds?
That is a great question but I am sorry I do not! You should build your own! That is the fun part of customizing for your personal wants/needs and your local area!
Did you caulk any seems or did the “coat it” seal it all up?
I coated large seams with 3M’s 5200 but the ‘Coat-It’ filled in small/medium seams on the boat. I hope this helps!
I see it's been a few months since you finished this, how is it holding up on the water?
I wish I had a better response but I was unable to get this boat complete before summer hit. With summer here, we are fishing ever chance I get. I promise that I am getting ready to jump back onto the boat project soon and see it through to completion. If it is any consolation, it looks great up on stands in my garage!!! Haha!
@@reelgoodtimesoutdoorchannel Been a while, but curious how you would rate the durability? Any advice on if you would do it again?
I am happy with it. I will post another follow up video soon!
