      just develop on wsl in windows, it is more closer to linux than mac os. One can even use linux GUI apps. It has tighter integration with windows. And with recent updates to wsl, one can mirror the networking too. Docker is also seamless in wsl between windows. I feel Windows gets biased opinions for its development and coding capabilities.

      And windows laptop have the cpus and gpus with the same architecture that is used in servers, therefore developing ai applications become easier since you can test on your local machine and also compile ai models for different architectures like RDNA and CUDA from the laptop itself

    In windows, Desktop pc with 65K is more than enough for coding Including Monitor and keyboard, mouse . I code my 10 years old laptop in my college days. its slow but it do everything and now i build a pc before 2 month ago and see smooth experience. First decide the purpose clearly then choose accordingly.

    I have a Dell Inspiron 14 5420 with intel i5 1240p,16 GB ram and 512 GB of storage. I bought it back in oct of 2022. And I am more than happy with my device. I have worked with docker in this system and also emulated some vms too. Never felt like running out of storage or any lag. Yes it can not run those heavy games but it can run some moderate ones like forza and also video editing can be done too ( I have used clipchamp and hitfilm on this). currently I am using WSL 2 for web dev so that I can mimic linux and probably in Dec of this year I will dual boot this with Ubuntu and will shift to ubuntu for development. If you are buying any laptop make sure it has at least a 12th gen cpu or equivalent ( preferably a newer gen) and 16 GB of ram is must. if you want go with 512 GB but if you can no go with 256 and later get a SSD. Only problem is it is a metal body so it heats alot I have to use a cooling pad or an external keyboard with this.

    I have been using MacBook Air M1 for last 4 years. Buying it was one of the best decisions for my career. It is running so smooth till now, and I plan to use it for 2-3 years more. Previously I had a Windows laptop which became unusable in 3 years. So Mac may look expensive initially, but in the long run it is similar to Windows. Remember lifespan of 2 windows laptop = lifespan of 1 MacBook.

    I’ve been using my MacBook Air M3 base model for the past four months, and I’m absolutely thrilled with it! The keyboard, trackpad, and screen are all top-notch, and the best part is that it doesn’t require any synchronous updates. I know this investment will pay off in the long run, and I can confidently say that I’ll be using this laptop for at least three to four years.

    I disagree with the concept of just gaming or just Coding. I built a system with RTX 3060 Ti, which is dual-booted with Windows 11 and Ubuntu. I also do both coding and gaming in my free time. Because I love both. I also have a 2019 MacBook Pro for portability. So you can do both if you really want to.

    I'd agree about the Mac point. Started programming 10 years ago, initially worked on Windows and then things started to go wrong when the tech stack increased in size and complexity. Windows was not able to handle properly and had to waste full-full days debugging issues unrelated to code. Switched to Ubuntu on my personal pc at home, once knew the ins-outs, switched OS at workplace too.
    Post pandemic, started to save little by little each month and post 2.5yrs, bought myself a Macbook Pro M3 Pro & that too just because I wanted the portability, else Mac Mini is still sufficient enough to fulfill my requirements. And because of linux background, Macos felt like home and it was way way easier to setup than my ubuntu.
    P.S: My linux machine was i5 4th Gen 16GB RAM + 1050Ti (all used parts) and it stayed by my side flawlessly for years till few months ago. Now it rests somewhere in my store-room.

    I am in my final year. I have been using a gaming laptop with gtx1650 and intel i5. I have windows + ubuntu dual boot. Gaming laptops give access to H series processors and having an SSD never causes any lag. Some issues with gaming laptops are their poor battery life, below average webcams and average screens.
    I have seen peers who are completely dependent on windows, some using Macbook Air , some experimenting with Arch Linux. It all depends on one's needs. If you want to work on Machine Learning, having an Nvidia GPU with high v-ram is very helpful as it provides GPU acceleration and short training times.
    If you want to engage in creative tasks like graphic designing, video editing, light coding with high battery life, go with Mac. It has a good display and it's chip handles video processing very fast.
    I would say, avoid intel i3 U series processors for development as they seem very laggy.

    In future you can install linux which would make it crazy fast. But for now as a student I stick to windows.
    Only bad thing about macbook is that screen crack repair costs 50k inr.
    Buy a mac if only you have the budget to cover up it's cons.

    bhai M4 mac mini ki jagah PC bhi build kar sakte hai.........refreance ke liye same price pe m2 Ultra (24 cores) wali performace bhi mil jaegi aur agar future me LLM run karne honegy toh GPU bhi add kar sakte hai + Desktop ke sath Linux ka compatibilty is Very Good

      if you are building a PC with intel choose above i5 13600k or i7 13700 or latest intel ultra 200 series CPU. they have good upgrades in terms of performance and multi tasking.

    6:45 WSL? Dual boot? VirtualBox/VMs? Ye sb bhi to rehta h option m if going for windows. And if there's someone jo nhi use krna janta inko, well....fir to skill issues. Kyuki 24x7 sirf coding ya gaming to krenge, coding krte krte kabhi free time m ya time pass k liye gaming krte h mostly. MacOS m games nhi support hoti h majorly (thanks to shitty XCode and other factors).
    And fir agar kisi ko LLM locally run krna h fir to acha high end GPU chahiye hi hoga. Agar ML/DL se kuch bhi kr rhe h to ya to more than enough RAM ho system m ya to fir acha GPU. To GPU to chahiye hoga n? And gaming laptops gaming laptops hi kyu hote h?
    The rating seemed kinda biased and half assessed, because things like WSL, VMs, Cloud Computing (for training ML models, if someone is), GPUs etc are not taken into account

      This video is for someone who's into coding not for "Gamers" , Gaming laptops works smoothly only if they're plugged in i use asus strix g16

      Your high end GPU shits in pant if someone brought thek thak M2 chips wala macbook , i use 4060 my cousin has M2 , m2 works better in 3d rendering, video editing it lasts longer don't need to be plugged in for maximum performance, it don't make noise its lightweight, it has less Distraction, it's secure and many more , if you don't like opinion of this guy just leave this channel , he's in industry for so long kuch soch ke he bola hoga

      @@aditya-gt5svhe's talking about gpu for LLMs, ML/ Deep Learning , not video editing buddy

    • @aditya-gt5sv
      @aditya-gt5sv Місяць тому

      @@SoleEvolver This video targets student , students don't use data with billions of parameter , freshers don't get hired as machine learning engineers , there is a reason maximum companies provide mac to their employees reason is its efficiency , mac is close to linux windows is not , If someone is worried about Gaming go for gaming laptop you do not have to take LLMs and ML as a shield

    • @SoleEvolver
      @SoleEvolver Місяць тому

      @aditya-gt5sv really? Gets ur facts straight, buddy. First of all, i never said anything about the video or who it was for. And it's a fact that U can't run high end ml and deep learning projects , they need gpu. And if u want to be a machine learning engineer or deep learning or anything of that field u don't directly buy mac cuz "ohh i am a student it would suffice if i buy a mac air" , u look in the far future and see whatever u need and buy a laptop according to that. And when u are buying a laptop, u don't see if u are a student or a high end developer but u see how long u can use ur device and the fields. And if u actually had an knowledge about ml or data science u would know that when u are training a model many times u have to process large datasets and if it's video or image processing its lot more taxing ur normal CPU will take a long time but gpu make it so much better, cuz u can't buy another everyday. And just fyi, big companies do not hire machine learning engineer as a fresher, small tech companies still do. Ofc if u got a rich legacy behind you, you may buy as many macs as u like. Not everyone. Not me. I have to think about all the checkpoints , and buy a laptop that helps me in the long run. It's only big tech companies that provide mac, even some big companies like Infosys don't give mac. So drop that "get closer to linux" thing that u heard from video. We all saw that in video. Everyone buy what's good for them and checks all their points.

    I believe the latest Mac Mini (M4) base variant is enough for almost everyone since nowadays, most of the work is done on the cloud. Yes, it incurs a little extra since one has to buy the monitor, keyboard, and mouse separately but even if it gets stretched to 80k INR, it's crazy VFM.
