IP Tech Tuesdays #46: VP/IP and IP cycles

VP/IP are invited to disagree. In this #IPTechTuesday I present my (current) vision of the position called VP/IP, which is not quite the same as an IP manager. I explain where I see the responsibilities of the VP/IP and especially involvement in the various IP cycles, and other processes that are IP adjacent.
I find that the VPIP is a unique position characterized by:
(a) a mostly informal power structure
(b) strategic importance
(c) a traditional lack of perceived importance - or perhaps nuisance
I also posit that the combination of required intimacy and informal authority makes it difficult to fill the position fractionally
