Excellent video! Your Cruiser runs beautiful! Just had mine other Cruiser injectors replaced(Prado 120 3.0 d4d). About 450.000 km and they were kaput/done. Noticed smoother idle and better fuel economy, that is it. Keep up doing these videos!😃
Nice one. My 80 is pushing 700 k km's and doesn't run awesomely. Reco pump and injectors were fitted at just over 500 k km's about 10 yrs ago so looking to fit a full new set of injectors. I've never had the head off and don't know the state of the internals. It's the original 1hz motor fitted ex-factory in 1992!
@@NitrosDen if you take the clamps off that hold them together it's no problem to just move them slightly aside. Less troubles bleeding the system afterward as well.
Good vid mate. Did my pump and injectors 5000k ago. Wow its like driving a brand new 105 again. Might be time at those kms to do your pump as well. Looking forward to the next vid. Cheers
@@WillsLandcruiser Do your research on where to send your pump buddy. (I won't bag out the mob that built mine). One bloke I do trust is JP Performance in Wodonga. The only reason I didn't use him this time is because I had my engine rebuilt and they organised the pump rebuild in the job

Injector tips last 60k . They have a part number on the side. Ebay. Denso replacement. If you can pull apart and clean you can replace the tips easy. Also the 1hz manual is handy for all your specifications. AwSome vid mate
Great vid mate, just picked up a 105 that went under in the Lismore floods. Got it running but sus on the injectors. I’ll have to look into the injector tester. Cheers.
Hey Will, did you ever consider or explore buying replacement tips online and swapping them over yourself? Seems like an easy enough job to do. Thinking of doing that with my 1HD-FTE injectors to save some money. What are your thoughts? Cheers, Sam
@@ForPropertyInvestors I would personally recommend genuine parts where possible, especially with something as important as injectors. The reviews would be the only real way to tell if those injectors were any good
If you want a bit more get up and go, it’s a great idea. Do some tests first if you’re unsure about the health of the engine. A compression test is a good one. Check out some of my other videos, especially the 30,000km review. I have some tips on getting good longevity out of a turbo conversion
If you are below 35bar down to max 31bar compression you can risk it. IMHO natural aspired diesel with a turbo attached suck. Its never the performance of a 1HDT. Keep the 1HZ as it is or replace head, pistons and for sure the injectors and everything whats related to it. But your engine will be more prone to failure like head gaskets or piston crack if you keep it as a 1HZ with Turbo attached.
1hz is indirect injection so injectors spray into a swirle pot 1hdt are direct injection so straight onto the piston witch is a completely different piston shape to 1hz flat top pistons 👍
Thanks mate corrected this in the description after releasing the video. Didn’t even pick up on what I said until after I released it. I am aware it’s auxiliary combustion
Good vid as always, Do you have any tips to keep the old girl humming? I am thinking of getting mine ready to go for some touring but it is very bog standard. Also paint going to crap and driveline needs heaps of work. Also what do you think about respraying with Rapotor coating? I've been thinking of doing that to mine to make it look half decent, also fix up bullbar then setup some 12 volt. Keep up the good work, also great video edits and camera/audio quality.
Thanks heaps for the kind words! Honestly my biggest tip would be to put in the time, it’s worth it. Sometimes you’ve just gotta spend the money, but the more you can restore and upgrade by yourself, the cheaper it’s going to be, and the more you’ll learn about your cruiser. I think raptor coats look so good when they’re done right! Love them when they’re generously thinned, and silver or gunmetal grey have been my favourites so far. Sounds like you’ve got a fair bit of work to do, but nothing is impossible!
For the rapotor it'll be done by a professional but the rest I think I should be able to do. Just need to find a new Bullbar as the current one is super rusted underneath
Definifly good to get the paint job done professionally, but other things would be great to do yourself and you gain a really awesome understanding and respect for it when you start doing big jobs like that!
I’d start by making sure all the injector clamps are tight and the rubber bushes are good. If so it never hurts to take them out and test them. FTE are still mechanical injectors, just with an electronically assisted pump
Nah I wouldn’t imagine so- not unless it was maybe an extreme case. Injectors are just the kinda thing you wanna change every 200/300 thousand depending on the service manual’s recommendations. Symptoms of bad injectors are normally hotter EGTs and sometimes worse fuel economy if they’re opening at a lower pressure than they should be
Been using fuel doctor from day one when it first came out" it " cleared my injectors after a few tanks of fuel and never looked back.runs like the day l bought the 80.

Good vid. You don’t have to take the fuel lines off though. Just move them out of the way once off the injectors.

The old injectors get changed over do they, from where the new ones get bought?

Hi Will,
On my 1HD-FTE, two of my injectors are operating much louder than the others, would that suggest I should have the injectors looked at?
I’d start by making sure all the injector clamps are tight and the rubber bushes are good. If so it never hurts to take them out and test them. FTE are still mechanical injectors, just with an electronically assisted pump
Is it necesaary to bleed the injectors after replacing them?
Yes generally you’ll need to crack the lines at the injectors and let the air out before it’ll run
Did you notice a difference in fuel economy Will

Would you mind sharing the contact of the company you’ve exchanged your injectors with ?
Hey mate yeah they were exchanged through MTQ in Adelaide.

Honestly not really. The EGTs were a little bit cooler in general (maybe 30° or so) but that’s about it

On the FTEs yes. But spoke to some diesel mechanics and they said it’s not necessary on the HZs
No. The lines are fine......unless they’re cracked, blocked or worn.
You could have bought new nozzles for a lot less than a set of injectors :-)
