- Unboxing my latest guitar project video. This is the surprise I mentioned in my last video before this. I ordered this guitar so I could rebuild my 1983 ocean blue sunburst with ivory binding and White Emg pickup. I needed the Charvel pointy headstock with 22 frets and the super strat body. This is a great guitar for $140. When I’m finished with it you want even recognize it. So keep watching for all the different videos of how I’m going to do it!

found one for$100 gonna go pick it up today, I am sold on inexpensive Jacksons, I have a cheaper Randy Rhoads V that is one of my favorite guitars. I have a lot of guitars that cost way more that do not get used near as much...

@@GuitarMan3YT a knowledgeable person can set it up to be as good as any non locking floating tremolo. Floating systems are never perfect and setting them up is a systemic process but not rocket science.
Love my js11 mines white I record songs I write with it, pairs good with my Gibson, Washburn, and Squier guitars
Love mine too, especially after I upgraded it to emg 81/85 pups and locking tuners.

I recently purchased a Jackson Dinky JS11, and it's going back to the dealer. Don't get me wrong, the neck is beautifully crafted, flat, with big fat shiny frets, and no fret sprout. The humbuckers are great, love the tone and power. The body is fantastic, comfortable, and not too heavy. NOW, here's why it is going back, the machine heads (tuners), are horrible, they just will not hold pitch, coupled with the nut slots that are cut too narrow, and the break angle of the B and high E strings, the strings bind in the slots. The tremolo system is also responsible for the guitar not returning to pitch after even mild usage. I really think you shouldn't have to replace various components in your budget guitar for it to do what it is supposed to do, namely perform as intended.
The only reason I bought the guitar is for the body and the neck. I replaced the tuners and the nut for less than $50 bucks.
The locking tuners I got keep it in tune. Along with a graph tech nut. I also replaced the pickups with Emg 81/85. It’s a great guitar now.

I just bought mine yesterday,exact same color.so happy with how it sounds and plays.only thing I couldn't figure out is the tremolo is fixed
kakigoreng83, did you put the bar in and try pushing it down. My tremolo works as you can see in my video. You may just need to loosen the screws on the springs

You can't beat Jackson guitars with the graphite reinforced next I don't care if they're $150 or two they play better than a $300 guitar.

Very detailed and insightful review! Did you run into any fret buzz issues with this guitar?
The DMille , Thanks for the compliments! This guitar was pretty good right out of the box. No fret buzz, no sharp frets. I lowered the action just a bit and it played great!

The DMille , nope, no truss rod adjustment was necessary. Just the bridge.

It’s ok if ya didn’t get a $1000 strat. IMHO I wouldn’t pay that much for a Fender strat. I like buying cheap guitars and upgrading them with better parts than $1000 guitars come with. Lol

Guitar Repair and Maintenance By Jeff Raaymaker, yeah, I thought it would be after reading a bunch of reviews and watching some videos of it. It looks way nicer in person than on camera. Pickups sound decent and it plays pretty good.
How did you put the whammy bar in. I can’t lock that in. Neither it is going in the hole…
The bar that came with mine fit right in just fine. I’m thinking you got the wrong size bar with yours.
Bars come in all different sizes.
My whammy bar does move not at all and I have to same electric guitar that you have. What did you do to make your whammy bar work?
Do you mean it won’t swivel and turn,… or, it won’t push down or dive bomb?
Bought this for an xmas present for myself and it came damaged with a big ding in it , so i returned it and got an epiphone sg instead. I might still get one in the future. But decided to spend a little more on the sg , oh well.....

@@GuitarMan3YT Yeah well I've got a Js32t Rhoads already and that thing shreds , so if I see the Js11 for a good deal down the road I'll pick it up. But I will see how the epi holds up for now. This is my 6th guitar anyway and don't need to hear any more grief from the wife , if you know what I mean!

@@mikeg.9238 we turned one of our bedrooms into my sons gaming room, he also has a UA-cam channel, I share it with him and hang my guitars on the wall in there, and some in the closet, and a few in our bedroom. And I’ll probably be building a few more in 2021. Lol

I have a 22 Fret 1985 Jackson Charvel, the body & electronics have seen better day's, so was thinking of buying a JS11 and swapping the neck from the Charvel to the JS. Could you forsee any issues? Much appreciated
You can make it work, although it might not be a direct fit. I bought a Charvel neck plate for mine and the holes did not match. The neck should fit in the slot easily, but you might have to fill and redrill the holes like I had to. Some wood dows and wood glue and a lot of sanding. Or ya might get lucky and the holes match. Hope that helps ya, some of my other videos show how I had to redrill the holes on mine.

Yes, it’s a 100watt Mustang III v2. I have the 2 and the 4 foot switch for it as well.
How long does it take to ship from the jackson website?
I don’t know anyone who buys direct from Jackson. Buy it from Ebay or Amazon or Guitar Center. It usually takes less than two weeks.

Nitin Mehta I would say yes! But it depends on how much $ you want to spend. The Ibanez gio series are nice beginner guitars also. For around the same price.

How is the fretboard, is it a really light colored and dry?
Apparently guitar companies are having trouble getting real rosewood right now and are only using it for the most expensive models. So for everything else they are using substitutes like amaranth and pau ferro. I used some fingerboard dye and made it more brown instead of that dry looking gray. So, yes, the fretboard on the js11 is amaranth and it is light gray color and dry.

@@ddaredevil the Jackson pickups aren’t the best but they’re not the worst either. If you have a nice clean tone on your amp they should sound fine. I would use the neck pup or both together.
the pickups are alright but I wish the pick attack sound was more... pronounced?
I was never planning to keep the stock pups, I chunked those and put in my EMG 81/85’s....they got plenty attack and sustain now!👍🎸

No, it’s not a Floyd rose model. It’s a 2 point modern strat style, like what a American strat comes with.

JS11 vs Ibanez GRX20 which would you say as both are $149.00 new?
Definitely the Jackson! Way better quality and hardware. Stock pickups sound great too. The only thing good on the Ibanez is the neck and the body.
