Seventeen years later, this race made me fall in tears!! Troy Bayliss won a race as a wildcard, Ducati made first & second place, and Nicky Hayden won the championship!!
I remember when Nicky Hayden won. I was not able to watch the Valencia race back in 06 but was told by my buddy that he won. I was happy that he won bc i did see him race at Laguna Seca that year. I tuned in to my local news (los angeles) to see him showcased on tv but did not see anything mentioned. I was angry about that. So i emailed the major networks (cbs, nbc, abc, and i think kcal 9 too ) about Hayden, an American, winning Moto GP championship. I did receive a couple of replies from some, which i forgot who, stating they did highlight Hayden's win. But unfortunately i did not see those broadcasts. I have seen Nicky race back in ama when he was on the RC51, which i ended up buying one in 06. Thank you Moto GP for sharing this memorable event of a beloved Ametican athlete. For this was the first time i was able to watch it in its entirety. The ending brought tears to my eyes. God bless the Hayden family, Nicky's love ones, and fans. 69 forever remembered 🤙
Troy Bayliss is a very special rider. Few riders become legends before even winning their first World Championship race. Troy Bayliss did exactly that. In 2000 at the WSBK round at Monza he pulled off one of the most amazing overtakings the world has ever seen that only a legend could do, also as a substitute rider on a factory Ducati. He didn't even finish on the podium that day and went home a legend. He won his first WSBK race the next round at Hockenheim. I remember this MotoGP race and not even being slightly surprised that he won it after coming over to cool down after earning the 2006 WSBK title. Very special to see Nicky Hayden basking in glory, a very heartfelt celebration. He got to experience that and I am happy for it. RIP Also very nice to see Norick Abe as well, an incredibly talented rider in his time. RIP
Troy Bayliss must be one of the most versatile and quickest riders of all time. I remember his win at WSBK at Hockenheim in 2000, after he'd swept all before him in BSBK.. It's a shame he didn't get a deecnt run in MotoGp, he was always good enough.
@@nathanwilliams2152 Incredibly, this event was close to not happening. Paolo Ciabatti, Ducati's Sporting Director, and Claudio Domenicali, Ducati's CEO, proposed the idea to Livio Suppo, who was the team boss of Ducati's MotoGP team at the time. This was because Sete Gibernau, their regular number 2 rider, was injured after a collision with Casey Stoner in the infamous Estoril race. That race was notorious for Nicky Hayden's emotional reaction after being taken out by his teammate Dani Pedrosa, and for Toni Elias's unexpected win by 0.002 seconds over Rossi, which left the Spaniard with a broken hand and an aggravated shoulder injury from an earlier crash at Catalunya. Initially, Bayliss declined the offer because he had a difficult year with Honda in 2005 and was content with his position in WSBK riding for Xerox Ducati. However, after some negotiation, Bayliss agreed to ride at Valencia if he could bring three key individuals with him: Ernesto Marinelli, his crew chief from WSBK, Ciabatti, and Davide Tardozzi, who was then the team boss at the WSBK factory team Ducati Xerox. Bayliss almost secured pole position, missing it only due to a last-minute lap from Rossi, but on race day, he led flawlessly from start to finish. There were suspicions that team orders might have been issued since Capirossi was fighting to maintain third in the championship against Melandri, but they never materialized. Upon entering parc ferme, Bayliss remarked to Tardozzi how easy it was, a remarkable statement considering it was his first time riding on Bridgestone tires after transitioning from Pirelli's in World Superbikes that year.
In reverse in 2015 I really couldn't stand that Jorge took championship eventhough he had great performance that year if Marc didn't do that after Japan in Australia and specially Malaysia and defending lorenzo like bodyguard in Valencia I don't think he could be champion.(as I said his performance totally was amazing. 4 wins in a raw and totally 7 wins before valencia.

@@hosseinmohammadi8776 I've been a spanish fan of Rossi my whole life and always will be. I got angry as hell that the championship ended the way it did and in the hands of the wrong rider. We'll never know if Jorge would've been able to beat rossi on his own and it absolutely sucks, after Marc made it his personal mission to screw Rossi over. That GrandFinale hashtag for Valencia was BS as well. Just a way to lure spanish people to see a fellow spaniard winning a rigged championship.
@AlexSnTk it's great mate. I don't care about many things for example to say oh he's my country man so keep defending him. Like you I care about right and wrong. Marc as we see now is scarily amazing and maybe best of all time in case of talent and performance. I think if he didn't do that and who ever would be champion in 2015 how much I could like him now. He's a beast and no one can deny his talent but after that he was a loser in my eyes. Even if he can win For Example 4 more wc with ducati and breaks all records it doesn't change for me. Many say its incident but I'm a god believer and think what happend in 2020 is not far away from his behaviour in 2015. Think if it didn't happen maybe he would be 2021 to 2024 champion. Sorry I talked a lot but I said what I was thinking. Bye mate.

This is the happiest moment of Nicky haydens life. Being a world champion all of his fans families full support for him. But sadly he left the worldtoo early. Gone too soon but not forgotten.
The day VR46 rode extremely nervous from pole as he was leading points with good gap to Hayden. Unpredictable race in history. The more satisfied for Hayden career. Rip Legend.
This video still brings tears to my eyes- it's so hard to believe he's actually gone- and if there's an afterlife, I'm pretty sure Nicky and Earl are having fun at a dirt track race somewhere--
The moment when Rossi had a pressure on his back.. It was such a sad experience for me when I was a kid.. I watched the race and I cried at that time.. What a great ride for Nicky Hayden!! Ride in Peace, brother.. 😇
pressure? yes, tyre's and engine's, plus Elias incredible photo-finish win (but ok, can happen). That year was simply the most unluckiest for 46, and was something wrong with his tyre in Valencia too.
The great memorial with RIP Nicky became the world champion. Similar with Fabio and Bagnaia condition in Valencia next week. Everything can be happening..
Muchas gracias por enviarme todas estas carreras completas de motociclismo. Si no es mucha molestia, debes en cuando, haber si me podrían enviar, carreras completas con Marc Marquez. Saludos de Noemi de México! 🇲🇽
I believe Nicky Hayden would have won this race if Rossi didn’t crash out, but once Rossi crashed he dialed back because he didn’t need to risk it. Albert Puig blaming Hayden for Pedrosa taking him out was unbelievable and shows the mental strength that Hayden was able to deal with that BS, Pedrosa was an A-Hole to Hayden also saying Hayden was unable to contribute to developing the Honda, but I believe Puig was probably telling Pedrosa that, but Honda refuted Pedrosa’s statement saying both riders were saying the same thing about the bike, but because they had different styles both wanted different changes.
I disagree. Nicki Hayden only won once outside of Laguna Seca - 3 total wins his entire career. His issue even during his peak years was he could ride near the front but never fast enough to consistently win races. He had one of, if not the best personality of any rider and was very talented, but maybe due to his riding style at circuits outside of the US, struggled to maintain pace through an entire race.
@@gregoryderry857Hayden's main problem at that time was the fact that Hayden weighed more than Pedrosa Barros and Biaggi and at that time there was no limit on fuel and motorbike weight (if I'm wrong, sorry) so Hayden had to use the light setting on his motorbike so that he had enough fuel to get to the finish. This meant While at Hayden's Honda, especially after the Rossi era (2004-2008), Hayden was never able to push his motorbike to the limit and we can say that Hayden might be better than we thought, it's just that limited fuel means he has to be smart about using fuel, just look at Hayden. when splitting never open more gas
Y ahora no?
What about Casey Stoner saying that in this race Valentino had a faulty tire? In fact Valentino was very fast all the weekend but during the start of the race he was so slow and he dropped without going too fast in that corner. It seems Casey in his biography said he think it could have been done on purpose.

I'm sorry for Valentino, he deserved the title in 2006, in 2015 he had the title in this pocket but Marques was not agree with that, Rossi is a Legend of MOTO GP.
Michelin gave Rossi a duff front tyre for the race. Not the same compound he qualified with. Michelin wanted a Honda world champion that year. The races where Rossi struggled they took his overnight tyres away.
