This is the same guitar, the 1963 or 1962 ES-335, that Eddie Van Halen had that he took the pickup out of, replaced the magnet with an Alnico 2 magnet, and dipped the whole pickup in paraffin wax. I can hear the unique sharpness of the bridge pickup that I can’t imagine any pickup today sounding like. Maybe the custom buckers get close but even then, it’s hard to emulate vintage pickups.
And Gibson uses lots of veneer......Aug 7, 2013 #1 Gibson's semi-hollowbodies like the ES-335 and ES-339 have tops and backs constructed of layers (either 3 or 4) of maple veneer. My understanding is that the veneers are assembled in successive cross-grain layers with the top layer having its grain longitudinal to the length of the guitar. The tops and backs are approximately 1/4" in thickness after layup.
Cool video but lose the god-awful background screaming rock music behind the presentation. The episode was shot really well making the 335 look gorgeous.
Good to see Aaron back.
Thanks!!!!
That chord progression from The World I Know sounded otherworldly on the neck pickup
Assuredly, one of #aaronhiebert best demo's to date. Simply an exceptional guitar as well. Keep them coming!
Thanks!!! That means a lot! You've watched them all! :)

Not true!! Michigan had a lot of lumber in the 50s and 60s made in Kalamazoo.
GOOD SOUND
@@adrielrichardson-lz2utSaying Gibson used lots of veneers is like saying the Democrat party are not commies. lol.
Sold already!
Man are you sure you wanna sell that? It’s like a part of your body! ❤️🎸
I own this guitar, probably a 63 or 64 not sure (I'm 72), mine has the Bigsby vibrato, and...I still have my Fender Super-Reverb tube amplifier.
so cool to hear "i own" and not "i used to own"
interesting where those A & D saddles ended up for intonation.
Una preciosidad de guitarra
