I really enjoy your videos. You really present Springfield better than any other realtors whose videos I watch, and make me more homesick for REPUBLIC than I ever was for San Diego, and that's saying a lot! By way of background, I'm originally from New York City, which when I was growing up, was the largest city in the world. I hated it there, and in 1964 I escaped by enlisting in the Navy. After boot camp at Great Lakes, IL I was stationed in San Diego, and flat out loved it there. But back then, San Diego was like Springfield is today. Then, on November 1, 1999, both our daughters moved from San Diego to Republic, which was bad because they took our 3 little grandchildren with them!!! Grrrrrr!!! After about 1 month, I told my wife, "I'm selling the house, moving to Republic, and if you want to come too, that's okay". We figured it'd take about 6 months, which would mean moving in May or June. God had other plans. We closed escrow and were on the road January 1, 2000! Because San Diego had grown so gigantic over the years, our initial impression of the Ozarks was the TV show, Green Acres. But we loved it, both for the Ozarks itself, and for being reunited with our grandkids. We lived in Republic till July, 2016, and though my wife loves it here in Noblesville, IN (a suburb of Indianapolis) I really miss Republic specifically, and the Springfield area in general. And as an aside to any Californians worried about tornadoes, I'd take a tornado over an earthquake any day. At least with a tornado, you've got enough advance warning to take shelter. (In Republic, the topography is such that tornadoes generally skirt around, and go elsewhere. There was a really bad one in, I think 2003, that skirted around Republic, and leveled about half of Battlefield). I hate cold weather, but the only really bad winter I remember was the ice storm that took out our power for about a week. But that was only once in the 16 1/2 years we lived there. The reason we left was because most of our family had relocated to Indiana, and the only one who hadn't was attending law school at UMKC, and had said he'd never go back to the Ozarks. Now he and his wife, and our great grandkids live in Republic. Grrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!! Several years ago, after a surgery, I had a physical therapist who'd moved to Springfield from KCMO. She said it took her & her husband about 10 years to acclimate. Her husband had gotten her a t shirt reading, "Springfield, Missouri, similar to a city, guaranteed to be 99 44/100 culture free". So, if you like big cities, Springfield might not be for you. But having lived in big cities most of my just under 76 years, all I can say is, I really miss living in the Ozarks.
Yes, I know you're quite the Republic fan! It's great to hear of someone who loves this area as much as we do! 🥰 I wish you could stop in to see us if you all come back to visit Republic! We would love to see you, Matthew! You're one of the people that make doing this worth it. 😆
Yep, tornado was 2003 and ice storm was 2007. And I agree with your wife's t-shirt! I've lived in 4 different states, in different parts of the country, more than 10-years each. And without a doubt, this is THEE most culturally sterile of all of them...
I watched your videos prior to moving to Springfield for work. The weather thing is highly variable, but ultimately not a big issue. Its kind of like we are in the garden spot of the southern midwest. Any further North, and winter is much worse. Any further south and summers are unbearable. Further west? Tornadoes. Further east? More Tornadoes. Anyway, I'll take the weather, and the area in general any day over California (Fires, Heat, No rain... etc...) and I'm glad I made the move (for work).
I'm glad you also see the weather isn't as big of a deal as many think it is! It does change, but it really is one of the most lovely areas of Missouri (and in my opinion, the midwest!). There is something to the elevation here. Not too bad of a place to live! I also thought about adding this fact right here. It would throw you off if you don't know!!!
Speaking as a recovering San Diegan, I'll take tornadoes to earthquakes any time. As a native New Yorker, I never heard anyone actually speak like that, but as a homesick Springfieldian...you're absolutely correct! Except that Republic is infinitely better than Willard! As a manufacturer's rep, who drove all over the area, in the over 16 years we lived in Republic, I never felt endangered regardless of whichever area I was in at the moment.
Honestly, a lot of this is the perspective of where you come from that determines if it feels safe to you or not. 🤷🏻♂️ We have a lot of people that come from the big city and can't believe how safe this area really is!
I really think you missed your calling spoke person for the city of Springfield!😀 Great presents and communication skill' and you look like the Springfield I grew up with!
Jesse I find your videos amazing and very encouraging, keep it up! Also you have a great sense of humor. Btw, I don't know if someone told you this before but you resemble Sal of Impractical Jokers

Hi! I just found your channel. What is a good area around Springfield for star gazing? Not ready to move quite yet, but light pollution and land are at the top of my list.
Hey, Disneylover23! Honestly, this is a subject that I don't know as much about, but it is a very interesting subject. I was able to find a few articles that cover this subject! It's from a local source called 417 Magazine and they found some of the best places near Springfield Mo! This is it: www.417mag.com/issues/july-2016/best-summer-stargazing/ I do love this subject though, maybe we can make a video on it!
@@jeanlee1911 OHHHHH okay 😂 with that I would say it depends on the situation/details on it. If you want we can chat! Email us and wiserlivingreatly.com and we can see!
The airport is so simple and easy, and convenient. 👍🏼

Oh also, the taxes are set up very differently here. Everything is assessed separately. County, state, vehicle, etc... That was a surprise.

Is there any hope for no money down buyers? First time home buyers as well
Yes!! There’s a USDA loan around here that’s 0% downpayment. There’s also a FHA loan that’s 3.5% downpayment😊
Recycling: there are many locations people can drop off their own items, they just have to do the seperating on their own.
That's good to know!
