I'm guessing it'll come up, so I'll cover it here, people ask why do I do so much maintenance stuff. It's a reality of owning older bikes!! Which is something I have also tried to warn people of for half a decade. You do save money up front buying the bike, but unless you're willing to learn how to do all this yourself you may end up having a large bill pretty quickly, or riding an unsafe bike!!
Great time to jet richer. 1 size larger main and small washer under the needle. Does wonders for power and cold start running. Pull the rubber between the head and carb. 2 rubber orings there per carb, replace them. Don't want vac. leak. Use silicone tire dressing in boots for reinstall. Pulling battery out and unsnaping fuse box gives more room. I did this with only carb. cleaner spray to clean all passages. Replace all rubber, reuse all brass, etc. if not rejetting. Ebay kits have bad jets with them. Do a bench test of carbs before install. Check for leaks. I'd get the Fuel line from Honda. It's preformed with all the turns and bends.
WD40! I always spray the rubbers before I start to encourage flex and slip. Bikes back then with cross the frame engines tended to have more space around them. A lot less wires! Good to have something straightforward for a change. 👍
Yes absolutely, I forgot to mention that, the heat here also helped a huuuuge amount. Makes everything a lot more willing to move. Oh that was so nice, I was expecting to have a mini battle but in reality it's a 10-20 minute job to have them out, without the camera you'd blast through it. Forks and brakes will also be a breeze to rebuild! Yes absolutely, really is something to be said for old bikes.
There is a reason they invented fuel injection lol. Mate they come out easy let’s see how they go back in🤔 A sonic bath sounds like a great idea and an excuse to do more project bikes so you can use it 😉
Hahaha I do love carbs tho, like this is probably the first time these have been touched in 20 odd years!! Yeah they're pricey but probably worth it long term.....I shall ponder :D
I'M DONE AFTER THIS ONE NO MORE PROJECTS, I CAN STOP ANYTIME :D Ahhhhhhh no one would ever believe me. I found one in Harbor Freight for reasonable money so I might do that. Hahaha it's a legitimate problem, I am stuck now space wise so everything gets finished before new stuff.

You say "unsafe bike" like it's a bad thing. 🙂
I mean it is cus it's not me riding it :P

Bike lift before bath. Better for your back and camera angles
@@stevennash4168 I won't be getting a bike lift sadly. Not enough space in the garage. I have to be able to clear half of it to work on the cars
Buy another cleaner. You know you will need it.
We live in a strange state of denial. Thinking you wont buy any more project bikes.

ahhhhh carbs.... GOTTA HATE THEM
In this case the carbs are innocent, it's the little rubber o ring is to blame.
@@TheGorillaBiker carbs...still nothing detours me from the hatred
Fair enough 😂😂😂😂 I'm glad they exist :P
@@TheGorillaBiker they should have been fazed out! :o
