From a non-musician it seems jazz is ever present through out the music. It seems during the pauses, music is happening. Whereas in classical the pauses are there to be just that.
i guess im randomly asking but does someone know of a method to get back into an Instagram account..? I was dumb lost my login password. I would appreciate any help you can give me!
@Isaiah Aydin i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and I'm trying it out now. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
I love your connection of musical rhythm to the human heart beating. An intimate feeling of natural rhythm. So many Jazz players, like Elvin Jones (my fave drummer) weren’t formally trained and just were so in touch with this natural rhythm. Not an easy thing. Thanks, Helen.
We agree that the metronome is a great way to develop consisent rhythm and also helps develop one's internal time. Keeping a consistent tempo when playing is crucial when playing in a larger ensemble. Thanks for the lesson Helen. There are new metronome tempos going up every single day on our page if anyone needs a specific bpm when practicing. All the best and happy practicing!
I mean rhythm and time are the most important things in jazz right... I would say classical players have no concept of real time the way a jazz musician does. It can take the classical player a long time if ever to learn what time it is... hahaha
what an absurdly close minded statement. Bill Evans and Oscar Peterson were both classical prodigies. One of Herbie Hancock's self proclaimed influences is Ravel. Get your head out of your ass.

Metronome disapears when she plays. Is absurd how she plays perfectly on time.
the metronome disappears only because they went from the talking mike to the piano mic. It's still going.
@@YotamIshay that makes sense

Been waiting for a piano series from JLC for so long! Please keep them coming!
Sorry, Helen.
Your classical beat example also grooved and swung!
I noticed that piano players that are classically trained rhat play jazz don't play II V I patterns as much.
